Tokyo Dining and Teppan Edo in Japan are now open. Has anyone eaten there yet?

Good set of pictures there on allears. But I dont know it looks kinda sterile and bla and cold to me. But in person Im sure its probably much nicer. I want to try Tokyo Dining for sure. Does Tokyo Dining take reservations or Teppan Edo only?

Eh, I prefer it the old way. It matched with the outside architecture. :( Oh well. As long as the food is just as good, then I am a happy girl.

Looks great! I'm sure the food will be too.

Japan is a pretty sterile country architecturally. I'm sure when tons and tons of people are eating inside both resturants and the hustle and bustle of chefs and wait staff zooming by the design will hope to accent the serene side of Japan. Not that of a Toyko subway station.

Matsu No More.

These new places look fine, but I'm really going to miss the Matsunoma Lounge. It was one of my favorite places in World Showcase. It was great for a mid-afternoon break, to get out of the heat, sit with a cold drink (saki or a Kirin Ichiban), and watch the people walk past.

Wow looking at the pictures it really looks like a complete overhaul. No wonder it took longer than expected.

Looks nice but VERY different. We usuallly eat there every time we visit. We are looking forward to our next visit...hopefully its as fun and good as ever.

The Japan pavilion is very interesting to me because Mitsukoshi and now the restaurants really harken to modern Japan. The other countries are more focused on the timeless, romantic version of their represented lands. I'll be interested to see if this trend continues elsewhere.

I think this concept works well with Japan because even in its modern state, its quite different than the U.S. and other western countries.

If some of the other countries attempted this, they might all end up looking alike, since unfortunately the 'westernization' and homogenization of the world continues at a rapid pace.

In any event, we'll be there this weekend, i'll try to give it a go.

I just got back from Japan, and trust me this is how pretty much every restaurant looks there. It may look "modern" to us, but this is just how they design things there...clean, simple, and elegant. I can't tell you how many times I walked into restaurants there and was like, wow, this little place looks so modern and trendy. No...they have been doing it like this far longer than we have, and the west has now taken an eye to their style.

Yep, the restaurants and store are VERY typical Japanese style nowadays. I always feel like I'm there when I go inside. I like that the outside is traditional and inside modern.

OK, I loved the sushi bar they used to have in the Japan pavilian. What did that turn into? Is there still a nice sushi bar? Most important, can I still get a sushi meal on the meal plan? I used to get their deluxe sushi platter which had a reasonable assortment. I would sometimes order a bit extra, and would tip extra.

I don't know why, but the salmon was especially good. I don't know if they farm it right there or what, but it is amazing compared to any other salmon I've found in Chicago. I don't think it has to do anything with Florida being near the ocean, as salmon like colder waters anyway.

Please post if you know the state of sushi in Epcot.
