No offense taken, I still like you! :)
I agree 99.9% that kids should try new things! But I have been given this challenge and I have to deal with it the best I know!
Anyway, enough said!
I want to hear reviews about the restuarant, I have never had Japanese food!

But for others, don't even think about it. Especially while kids are young and easily influenced. You've got to set a good example to have diverse eaters now, or they'll grow up comparing restaurants based on who has the best burger. That's ok when its part of a diverse appetite, but imagine if the choice is always between the 5 or 6 chain restaurants that serve a bland American style meal. Yeah, that's fine once in a while, but keep an open mind.

I personally know way too many people that say things like "yuck, Ty food" or "Indian, isn't that just curry?" Yeah, these people exist, and based on total misconception and a lack of adventurous spirit they simply ignore the yummy treasures of the world.

I 100% agree with you! That is why I have a 15 month old who will tear up some veggie sushi (including the seaweed) and tofu.

My brother only wanted french fries and hotdogs, and I saw how much of a pain it was for my parents to get him to try other things.

What is the worst that will happen if they don't like the food? You are out a few bucks for the meal and you can snap a few pictures of them trying something new and the look on their face.

While I completely understand a medical condition requiring a certain menu (and completely support parents avoiding scenes!!), I second those encouraging children to try a variety of foods and be open to new tastes (even if they spit 'em out).

I've just returned from the F&W Fest with my DH, who for the 21 years of our marriage I have gently made fun of for still being a "picky eater"--the kind who says "I don't like that" without ever having tried it. Well, he must have had some kind of breakthrough, because he tried buffalo, and duck, and (believe it or not) RICE for the first time in his life last week. I am so proud of him!! And guess what? He liked them all...

Personally, I have been working up the nerve for the past three F&W Fests to try escargot, and finally did it this year. Not bad at all!!

As mentioned by rdour@techminds, there are a lot of "yummy treasures in the world" , and we'll never discover them unless we try!!
