Do any of you locals actually have a hard copy?

I ask because there was a story by our pal Jason Garcia involving WDW Co. and how it chooses to spend its money (that we gladly hand to them) and yet it can't be found on the website or anywhere on the 'net.

It looks like someone had the story removed figuring no one actually reads a hard copy anymore. So, if it isn't online then it never existed.

I am not sure what section it is in (or even if it appeared today) ... it was on 1B in another Tribune-owned paper this morning.

I just thumbed through the paper and didn't see the article. Maybe it was printed a day or two earlier?

That is very possible. It was a shared byline with Aaron Deslatte, the Tribune's Tallahassee Bureau dude. And, importantly, Disney was NOT in the headline ... it was on special interest groups targeting the upcoming state senate races. Disney was VERY prominent in the story, though, and that's what I care about.

It could have run in the past 2-3 days though ... but it could also be in today's paper and no one is seeing it because Disney isn't in the headline.

Try emailing the Sentinel or Garcia?

I do not wish to break the rules so I will not post the link here, but I believe I found the online link for the article 74' is referring to. It was run July 15 in the Sentinel. If anyone is interested in reading it, pm me, and I will send you the link :)

EDIT: I still have the link for this article but according to 74' it is not the one he is referring to. Though I think interesting reading nonetheless. It seems there are multiple articles on the general subject.

When Obama visits the world, for political reasons, it's discussed here. It is possible to discuss the presence of political figures (such as the most prominent political figure in the world, no pun intended), or monetary spending, without crossing the line into political opinion. On second thought, I should say that it's possible *for those of us who understand where that line in the sand is, and can restrict our discussion points appropriately.*

And those posts are routinely locked or have several comments deleted.

You're so principled, I'm sure you've spoken out against JT's paranoid rants today about ABC News.

I haven't seen them, as I don't read every post in every thread. If I come across them, I will report them just as I always do when I see something that is against forum rules, regardless of the poster or topic. And yes, I am a person of principles, and I won't apologize for that.

My apologies. Seems like a lot of posters like to grandstand when Spirit posts. Maybe you aren't one of them.

However, I'd note that your original post said you "believe the article in question is political" -- did you know that for a fact or was that speculation based on the identity of the OP?

Spirit himself described the article as being political (Not in so many words, but through his description.)

I found two articles when I performed a google search that matched the information that was provided by the OP. Both of them were specifically political in nature. I don't know for sure which one was referenced, or if it wasn't one of the two I found. So I can't be certain, which is why I used the word "believe."

I am not interested in discussing the substance of the story, per se, although I do believe that Disney's spending IS absolutely something that should be fair game here.

My point is it sure looks like Disney had a story scrubbed from the Internet. It exists in print because I am looking at it now. That is certainly newsworthy, so let's not try and censor that here too. This is the USA, after all, and not China.

Oh, and Bubbles ... that story is not the story of which I am speaking.
