That is certainly newsworthy, so let's not try and censor that here too. This is the USA, after all, and not China.

Freedom of speech laws don't apply to online forums where you are a guest and have agreed to the terms of use when you became a member. You don't have to like the rules, but we all have to abide by them. There are plenty of forums that allow political discussions; this is not one of them.

Linking to a political story that concerns Disney != a political discussion.

I am not interested in discussing the substance of the story, per se, although I do believe that Disney's spending IS absolutely something that should be fair game here.

My point is it sure looks like Disney had a story scrubbed from the Internet. It exists in print because I am looking at it now. That is certainly newsworthy, so let's not try and censor that here too. This is the USA, after all, and not China.

Oh, and Bubbles ... that story is not the story of which I am speaking.

If you have it in front you, theres an easy way to find it.
Type the first paragraph into Google. Hit search. Viola, there it is.

Here is the article posted online on July 16 by Garcia. It's about Disney's political campaign contributions in Florida . It is rather interesting. Some large sums of money are being thrown around here by Disney.

Yeah, it's political, but I'm confident we can discuss it here without issue.

Hmm. that is not the one I found but it seems to be on the same topic. This one has more information though! :)

Yeah '74, just google the first sentence. Try both google.com and news.google.com. If it doesn't turn up in either of those places -- assuming Google's had time to index it by now -- then you might have a case for Disney scrubbing it from the Internet. Although, alternatively, it just may be that the Sentinel is too incompetent to have made sure it made it online, or deliberately held it in print as part of some dumb, old-media "strategy."

It seems like Disney is throwing way too much money at these local political figures. Disney obviously gets something in return( i.e. taxs breaks ect.) Disney owes their customers much more then the local congressmen or senators. How about Disney fixes the yeti before they donate to political "committees".

Every dollar Disney spends is spent with the strategy that the company will get more than a dollar in return. There is much, MUCH to be gained if you're a giant corporation from making sure the men in charge are on your team. The customers, I'm afraid, don't wield that kind of power.

So, it looks like Disney is giving money to both political parties at the senate primary level, and in moderately large amounts by giving money to the "super-pacs". Obviously, they don't care which political party wins, as long as the candidate doesn't promote legislation which could hurt the company. I'm sure from a corporate standpoint it is money well spent in that they hope to avoid excessive taxes or other negative attention to the company.

Not a big story as WDW has always tried hard to wrap politicians around their little finger, necessary to get approval to build the resort in the first place . . .

That is the one I found too! But apparently it was not it...sigh. 74' would you do a write up of it for us if it really can't be found anywhere online?

He's not being helpful in trying to find it. Like TWDC would actually try to get an article 'removed' in this day and age. Google indexes instantly.

Do you really need to give us a lesson on freedom of speech? ... Because this is NOT a political discussion. This IS a discussion about Disney possibly using influence to have a story removed from the Internet because they don't want to be associated with certain individuals that they opt to have relationships with.

I think that is highly newsworthy and likely of high interest to most Disney fans here.

Since you seemed unaware that those rights don't extend to a private online forum, I thought I would let you know.

The article (or articles) in question is political in nature. There's not much that could be discussed about the content of the article without the discussion becoming political in nature... which is not allowed on the forums.

And based on the multiple articles on the subject that other posters have found, it seems as though it hasn't been removed from the internet as you are claiming.
