(Wow, this sounds nothing like most "discussions" I read about sports on message boards.)

*throws in a 'your coach sucks' just for the hell of it*

j/k

Coach K was giving our guards some major props (I am so white, I should never say that again...) and he knows what is coming. I think the 'x' factor (oooo there goes those cliches again...) is Luther Head and our inside guys. if they are hot tonight, ILlinois is almost unstoppable.

ok, it has been a long day at work, and we have a dozen people coming over tonight for the game. so I am going to go home now and cook food, and cheer on my ILLINI!

GO ILLINI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:sohappy:

That made me snicker...don't feel bad, I'm one of those guys you see in the Eddie Murphy sketches, walking up to a group of black guys and going "What is up, my brothers? Would you care to get funky?"

perhaps if Luther plays "out of his head"? :lookaroun

*sound of coughing in background*

Alright, coming up on gametime...

Well, half of the Final Four will be set today, so who's going to win when

Alabama plays UConn

and

St. Joe's faces Oklahoma State?

The Huskies have looked very impressive this tournament. Alabama has proven that you pick against them at your own peril, but I think they may finally meet a team that's ready for them today. I take UConn to move on.

The St. Joe's story has been a great one so far, and I think they'll give the Cowboys a great game, but I'm taking OSU to advance.

OK, my gloating probably means that my picks for tomorrow will end up in the toilet, but I thought I'd enjoy this one, at least.

Well, it looks like nobody else wants to play here anymore. Anyhoo, I'll throw in my picks for today.

I think Georgia Tech will hang around with Kansas for a while, but I like the Jayhawks' experience (one of those "buzzwords") and the way they've played in this tournament. Jayhawks to go to their 3rd straight Final Four.

As for the other game: I admit I'm somewhat biased, but I tried to put that aside. I love the Xavier story so far, but could they really beat each of the top 3 teams in their bracket? I don't think so. I take Duke to move on.

Well, I went 3-for-4 this round. Tech is playing really well, really impressive considering their best guy was a non-factor the last 2 games.

Xavier impressed the heck out of me today, as well. Just couldn't close the deal.

Does anyone realize that this is the 6th year in a row that one conference has sent 2 teams to the Final Four:

'99: Ohio St. & Michigan St. (Big Ten)
'00: Michigan St. & Wisconsin (Big Ten)
'01: Duke & Maryland (ACC)
'02: Oklahoma and Kansas (Big 12)
'03: Kansas and Texas (Big 12)
'04: Georgia Tech and Duke (ACC)

Pretty weird...

Out of my original bracket, I only have one team of the Final Four - Oklahoma State. But since I had them losing to Kentucky and Kentucky then beating Stanford, I am pretty much dead in the water. Xavier did well but you hate to lose not playing your best. Here's hoping for an Oklahoma State vs. UConn final.

*extends a hand to shake to wilt dansey*

good game. we played our hearts out, but Duke prevailed. my hats off to them.

but seriously, do I have to hear about bruised ribs any more?! Williams had a BROKEN jaw, and heard about it half as much as whats his name and his hurt ribs.

an xavier put up a great game yesterday too.

alright, my bracket is offically dead. so I will go out on a limb and say.....uconn as champs.

and sorry wilt, I didn't have a moment to spare this weekend, or even this morning at work to put up some responses. but hopefully my afternoon will be a bit less hectic.

and my prediction for next year. illinois will be just as strong to start the season, we only loose bench players, no starters or 6 mens. (does that make sense?!) illinois and wisconsin at the top of the big ten again, as wisc has a lot of great returing players.

these two again make it in to the tourney, only to find they have again been snubbed by the comittee and placed at the 3rd seed in two different regions. both win out to the final four.

and that is my dream....er....prediction. :)

ok, back to work for another week, then more basketball.

and now I can offically call it baseball season :)

No worries...I just assumed you might have needed some time to get over your disappointment, and I didn't want to pick at the scab while it was still fresh. I know that feeling.... :)
