We'll be spending 4 days at disney and then the 5th day we are going to go to Universal Studios to enjoy all the Harry Potter stuff

But we feel pretty lost as to how to arrange getting there and back

Is taxi better? Rental car?

Please share your experiences and tips :)

Much appreciated!

Agreed - go with Uber or Lyft to get you between WDW and UNI. We're spending one day at UNI during our upcoming trip and we'll be taking Uber from POFQ to the Hard Rock Hotel as it's the closest drop-off point to the park entrance.

We normally have a car, but in the past we used a taxi in the pre Uber/ Lyft days. On our last visit the daughters used Uber to get around very efficiently.

Have you considered staying one day at a Universal resort for the early entry to the parks? You can get a lot done before the crowds that way. You can just stay at Cabana Bay or Sapphire Falls for that. Or at the Deluxe to get the "free" express pass.

When you purchase your tickets from Universal there is an option to purchase a park to park ticket with round trip transportation from WDW to Universal and back. This is a great option as you don't have to worry about surge pricing or paying to sit in traffic in a taxi, etc. In addition you can schedule your pick up time at your WDW resort in advance. This has been a wonderful bonus.

Also keep in mind that the express pass option, regardless of which type it is, does not work on any of the Harry Potter attractions except the Dragon Challenge ( the old Fire and Ice Coaster) The newer part of the HP areas is brilliant though!!! Have a wonderful time! Marie

Not trying to hijack the thread, but what is the best route to take when driving from wdw to universal? We would normally take I-4 but with that under heavy construction I figure it's not the best route...

I'd go with Palm Parkway, which turns into Turkey Lake Rd. Take a right at Cabana Bay Beach Resort, which is Hollywood Way. That takes you to the Parking garage.

We did the reverse from Uni to Disney Springs and it was painless. No backups and there is a Wal-Mart on the way if you needed to stop.

I purchased Universal tickets a month ago and didn't see this option. Is this something Universal recently added?

My travel agent was willing to set it up for me, but the shuttle is about $50 round trip (for two of us), so ends up being a little more than Uber would cost (assuming no surge pricing) with less flexibility.

I just helped a client with this! I quoted her a popular transportation company we recommend and she ended up going with an Uber as she found that to be the best option for her family. She was tempted to go with the transportation company because she would be switching resorts to a Universal property with her family and it would be quite late. She liked the idea of having something planned and paid for ahead but did in the end go with Uber. Good luck!
