The usual, is $1 a day per person in the room, we normally leave $5 a day (some may think this is steep and I do make sure our room is pretty tidy, but no way am I making beds on vacation!) Whatever you feel comfy with, and whatever your budget allows, will be appreciated, Im sure. If your mousekeeper leaves animal towels and does an outstanding job, do $5, depends on your experience. Have a great trip!

I usually do $5/day. They work hard and they deserve it! Plus sometimes I get extra Disney animals that they make up and leave for you to take....I just love those!

when we stayed at the boardwalk, the mousekeepers left several towel animals in the room!! on our last day as we were getting our stuff together, she stopped into our room and told the kids to each pick two to take home. They were very happy!!!! That was three summers ago. Believe it or not, the animals are still set out in their bathroom at home!!

I would venture a bet that Corporate Disney feels otherwise about this no matter what some high-school student cast member may tell you.

I still stand by my opinion that making your own is easier on the conscience.

I suppose if that's how your conscience works. I called the desk, spoke to someone there, and then my friend called housekeeping to double check. We were assured by two people that we were more than welcome to take them home. One is sitting on my bathroom sink and another is in my closet!

At POR this past February, for two of us, we left mousekeeping $5 a day. They were really on the ball with having the room clean, apparently right after we left for breakfast, because we'd come back and it'd be ready to go again. Between that and the towel animals, I never felt that $5 a day was too much at all.

I have read that the towel animals are made out of towels and washcloths that are too worn to be placed in the rooms any more... and that it's acceptable to take them.

Our family usually does not take them, but we did take a small mouse made out of a washcloth, which is still treasured.

You could make snakes with them....'

Rolling a towel up to make a snake? Thats about my level of towel creativity. :D We had a housekeeper make up a beautiful pair of swans on the last morning of our stay, with a personal note thanking us. It was the best towel creation I had ever seen.
