I have seen someone ask on the disney mom's panel and the reply was that the animal towels was seen as a gift, and you was free to take home and i supose it depends maybe on the size or how many you get? Tricky question appartly going on everyone views on here!

rrr ok its about what i was thinking thanks! so other than mousekeeping who else do you tip? I know waiter/waitress but other than that? and yes i am thick!

We always have two rooms with two people in each, so it's $5 per day per room for us.
Other than waiters or waitresses (yes, you need to tip servers at a buffet too), tip anyone you would normally tip outside WDW, valet car hops, bellmen, barber, hair stylist, etc.

When we went in 2009, I made pre-printed thank you envelopes. I let my granddaughter pick out the characters for each envelope. For example, one day had an envelope with Minnie on it and thank you Mousekeeping printed on it as well. We had two rooms at the Poly so it wound up being $10.00 per day ($5.00 per room). Every day the rooms were spotless and always a goody left for the granddaughter. $5.00 per room was well worth it to me when we'd come back after a long hot day in the park and there were new "critters" waiting to greet the granddaughter.

We didn't tip because we don't require mousekeeping during our stay. We get new linens/towels as we need them. I also found it strange that there wasn't an animal towel on our first trip. Ah well.

I actually never thought about tipping Mousekeeping - My husband thinks that cleaning the room is part of the price of the room that we pay so he would freak out about leaving a tip - And actually we have really had bad service lately with DIRTY rooms upon arrival, bathroom dirty continually during stay - no tip deserved - actually complaints merited but we didn't as we never want one bad day to cost someone a job that really needs it, especially when we are in the place of our dreams that many housekeepers could not afford to visit...We are blessed but not in a position to give money away...

Tipping is certainly optional for any service, but it's difficult to believe that two dollars a day for someone to pick up your dirty, wet towels and throw out your trash is out of of reach for anyone that can afford to be at Disney in the first place.

I understand Mousekeeping can be busy but I'd blow a cork AND report it if the bathroom wasn't clean. At what we pay to stay there, that should never be an issue.

Would you tip for housekeeping at any other hotel?

Well, with all due respect to the love we all have for Disney, would you consider Pop Century a high end resort? I wouldn't. I have no qualms with people that want to leave tips, by all means that's wonderful! However, it's a bit disheartening to see some people comment on those of us who don't tip mousekeeping because "we're already able to afford the Disney trip".

Not only that, but where does the tipping end? Do you tip the ferry boat captain, or the monorail operator? What about the tram or bus driver? I was under the impression that the folks in the food service department got such low hourly wages because the tips were what kept them afloat.

Nobody should judge because you dont tip, they dont know you or your situation, personally this our first trip and probably last trip due to the cost from flying over from England plus eveything else. It all adds up and when you have children, who would you rather spend the money on? Personal choice end of day!

The usual, is $1 a day per person in the room, we normally leave $5 a day (some may think this is steep and I do make sure our room is pretty tidy, but no way am I making beds on vacation!) Whatever you feel comfy with, and whatever your budget allows, will be appreciated, Im sure. If your mousekeeper leaves animal towels and does an outstanding job, do $5, depends on your experience. Have a great trip!
Great comments and suggestions! Also feel free to get ahold of their bosses lots of times verbal comments go 2x as far. When they goo above and beyond the call of duty I will go out of my way to make sure that they get the credit they deserve!

I leave $5-$10, but am not piggish. They don't really need to do anything except pick my old towels up from out of the sink and give me new ones, pick up the trash bag and make the bed. It is habit for me to make the bed as soon as I'm up, but they always re-make it anyway, so I try to leave it easy for them to make.

I leave $20 on check-out day, but I try to leave everything tidy and in place.

I've seen how disgusting some people live and leave things in hotels, so I know those housekeepers have their hands full and deserve the dough!!!

Of course.

Some people tip, some people don't. Housekeepers, waitresses, hairdressers, valet guys...anyone who works a job where most people tip them knows that some people won't. It's part of the job. I don't think people who don't tip are vile human beings. There are many worse things a person can do than withhold a tip.

It is a personal decision.

Tips DO NOT guarantee you a towel animal!!!! This is a random thing. On rare occasions, they'll leave a candy bar or postcard in the room. Some people get them, some don't. It's a bonus. A random gift. Do not be upset because you left a tip and didn't get a treat, please.

Hubby and I are very tidy people in our hotel room, rooms are small and I can't stand to clutter it up. But we usually leave a buck or two per day, I personally feel cleaning rooms deserves more of a tip than some things that it is considered more "normal" to tip for. I would rather tip my housekeeper than a server at a buffet, all they really do is take my plate away and give me a drink.
