Sometime in the next 5 years I'm taking the kid to the UK, and if I do and we head up north (which we probably will, as that's where some of her roots are and I'd want her to see it), I owe you a pint!

Awesome response. Cheers! (hold me to that, it's a free pint!)
Stay south it's way nicer then the north plus you can understand them when they speak :cautious:

Typically it's a dollar a person but if you get exceptional service a few dollars more is great, the housekeepers at my hotel don't hardly get anything so I love to tip plus I usually go to the front desk if I've had good service and let the management know. Course at my hotel we don't get a lot of the clients that say the GF would, and well let's just say classy isn't a word I would use.

Let me get my head around this.....The Guernsey accent sounds like someone from a land down under, where women glow and men chunder.....Mrs Hatter often gets mistaken for having a Irish twang..Because of her birthplace..Galloway/Irish........Mine on the other hand is 100% Glaswegian..The river Clyde runs thro my veins..:joyfull:...

I think $10 per day is fair. I'm guessing the actual rate of occurrence at which people tip the Mousekeeping staff is relatively low; probably no more than 15%, which is sad considering these Cast Members are typically working the hardest for the lowest amount of pay. I typically don't discriminate depending on where we're staying. The mousekeeping staff at POFQ is working just as hard as the staff at AKL.

Was the envelope cleared marked as being for Housekeeping/Mousekeeping? Unless it was, they might have overlooked it. Also, if it's not in an area that they clean, they may automatically assume it was yours and move right by even if it was marked, just out of habit.

We make envelopes weeks before we leave. Five dollars is inside each one. We lock them in the safe and pull one out every morning before rope drop! If anything extra or above and beyond is done, I leave a few extra dollars.

We print our own tip envelopes for Mousesavers, and in the past we've left them out every day with $5-$10, so that if different folks are cleaning our room each day, everybody gets a tip. (We are VERY tidy, so I like to think we're not taxing the staff too much, although I'm probably fooling myself. For example, we make our own beds in the morning, but come back to the room to find them "re-made" much more neatly.) ;)

We'll be staying in a DVC villa on rented points next time, so we'll only get one visit from Mousekeeping and they'll only be refreshing towels and toiletries and emptying the trash. We'll still leave out a $10 tip, that day only.

Don't the Mousekeepers at AKL also scoop up animal poop?

Whoa! Didn't mean to start a clan war!
I appreciate all the input. I also make up envelopes and leave them. I must have missed the blue envelopes but may have overlooked them since I bring my own. DH and I have had this discussion many times and it is great to see what other people do as well. This helps alot!
