Tipping on the Dining Plan

Do you pay for the waiters/waitress tip with a credit card at time of service or is it put on your room card and paid at the end of the tip?

Thanks

Tips on DDP can be paid by cash, Credit Card or room charge, as you prefer. If you pay by cash, be sure to total your bill to reflect no tip being charged to your room. Although the vast majority of servers are honest, there have been reports of tips being added post-facto.

Although your bill will show a recommended tip of either 18 or 20 percent, feel free to tip what you think is right. Unless there are six or more in your party, in which case they will charge you an 18% tip.

I just want to say that we were a victim of being as they say "double dipped" On our trip this past Nov. we decided to pay cash on all of our dining tips since we were on the DDP and had prepaid for the plan. Well on the day we had dinner at the 50's Prime Time at check out the bill came to like 98.00 since the 20% of that is 19.60 we left a 20.00 bill, the following day for check out our resort bill that was on our door I looked at it before packing to depart & there was like a 20.00 charge to our room for gratuity from Prime Time, I went to the front desk and explained that we left a 20.00 cash tip and all the manager was willing to refund us was $10.00. So I think next time I will use credit since it is more disputable.

Wow, that is so wrong, especially after you tipped 20% already. We are staying at SOG so they cannot charge onto our room key, looks like it's a great thing too! Sorry you were taken advantage of:(.

Thx armyfamof5, I can say I was upset at 1st but as time has passed I am not going to let a person that has been given the chance to give great experiances to others destroy what WDW is about, I am hoping her reason was that she need money to help her kids.

Even outside the World, if you leave a cash tip it's always a good idea to write the word "Cash" on the tip line of your charge receipt. It serves a two-fold purpose: 1) it protects you from a dishonest server writing in an extra tip on the blank and adding it to your bill, and 2) when you give the receipt back to the server they can rest assured that you aren't stiffing them on the tip... (Plus, many servers prefer getting tips in cash anyway.)

We always pay in cash. I hate to put anything extra on my credit card. I can't seem to remember all I've charged and then end up surprised when I get my bill! I usually draw a line through the "tip" part of the receipt but from now on I'll actually write "cash" on that line. Thanks for the tip!

Hi Tink I always tip in cash and usually do the line thru that area as well. It is a good reminder to make it clear on the receipt by putting the word "cash" on there!! Belle
