Disney opened Licensing International 2006 in New York by revealing Brittany Murphy as the voice of the sassy and spunky fairy for the 2007 release of Tinker Bell. In the tradition of its many animated classics, Disney will bring to life an enchanting tale of Pixie Hollow and Tink's new fairy friends voiced by some of Hollywood's most talented actors.

"I've had the good fortune of playing many interesting characters, but none as magical as Tinker Bell," said Ms. Murphy. "To give Tinker Bell a voice for the first time in history is such an honor."

Tinker Bell will be the first time audiences hear Tinker Bell speak, as the movie brings to life the amazing world of Disney Fairies in all-new CG-animation. The movie, to release globally in Fall 2007 by DisneyToon Studios and Walt Disney Home Entertainment, will be supported with a strong marketing campaign and a broad consumer products line at major retailers around the world.

"Tinker Bell is such an indelible character to pop-culture even without a voice," said ________ Cook, chairman of Walt Disney Studios. "She is sassy, feisty and independent. Brittany's distinctive voice and superb talent will bring all these qualities to life, as well as show new sides to Tink's personality. Audiences will get to know Tinker Bell like never before, and I am sure will fall in love with her all over again."

Disney Fairies' Heritage Rooted in Storytelling
Disney Fairies launched in September 2005 with the worldwide launch of Disney Publishing's "Fairy Dust and the Quest for the Egg" novel, which spent 20 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. Over one million books were released in 33 languages and in 51 countries.

Disney Fairies builds upon the enormous popularity of Tinker Bell and introduces children to her secret, magical world and a new circle of enchanting fairy friends — each with an incredibly diverse talent, personality and look. In 2006, Disney Consumer Products (DCP) is supporting the franchise with a series of best-selling chapter books; small dolls and role-play items; a Disney Fairies magazine launch in Europe; and a multi-category product launch scheduled for Spring 2007.

Oh please please please have a good plot, not just "Meet Tinkerbell and her Friends!"

Also, I hope its not just trying to be a cutsie movie for toddlers...

I'm scared about this movie...

Ah...this must be the next thing to come from the Magic Kingdom, to the movies. "Light Magic-the Motion Picture"! Critics say it's " A Spectacular Journey!"

I can't believe they picked Brittany Murphy to be Tink's voice... it's so "scratchy" and not at all what I would expected a sassy fairy like Tink would sound like! I'm already disappointed. :brick:

Does that mean this will be a straight to DVD release? If thats the case then I have low expectations for the movie... I see it as being like 'Mickey's Twice Apon A Christmas' or the Barbie movies, which some of those have turned out to be pretty cute! Though they are sappy :)

I'm semi excited about this, mainly because Tink is one of my all time favorites!

I do like the casting for Tink's voice! She is just adorable!

I agree. Tink is an awesome character because she's got such an attitude. lol. After never speaking before (to onlookers like us I mean), I wouldn't have picked Brittney Murphey. I just don't think she'll do Tink justice. I will, however, cross my fingers that its a decent movie.

Have any of you read the book, "Fairy Dust and the Quest for the Egg"? If the movie is anything like the book, it will be magical. It really gives you reasons that fairies came to be and invites you into the world of fairies. Probably one of the best books I have ever read. I work in a bookstore and little girl's eyes just light up when ever I recommend the Disney Fairy books. They are so popular, and many of them come back for more. I think this will be very huge for Disney.

I love Tink--but am iffy on the idea of this movie. If done well, it will be awesome, but...I still scared.

And is it just me, but why does Tink need to talk?

I haven't read the new books, but I've heard good things about them. I still can't feel a little bit like I just heard they were making a sequel to Mary Poppins where Bert and Mary get married.

Tinkerbell doesn't need to talk. She expresses her feelings all to well with her facial expressions.

This somehow makes me really sad. I feel like we will be losing some of Tink's magic.

It is VERY dissapointing that 1. They're making Tinkerbell talk now 2. They're using Brittany Murphy and 3. It's just dissapointing.

Some of us (fellow CM's and I) were talking tonight, and we think one of the reasons why they're doing this is so Tinkerbell can become a meet and greet character. Ugh.

The whole thing sounds like a killer to me. I dont see how its gonna work. I mean tink TALKING, that already sounds like a big mistake, and then CG. Im going to have to try my hardest to be optamistic.
