Some of us (fellow CM's and I) were talking tonight, and we think one of the reasons why they're doing this is so Tinkerbell can become a meet and greet character. Ugh.

And that's my dream job.

I have to say I think Disney is just going after the $$$ on this one. This is gonna sell like crazy, I know my daughter will want to see it. **fingers crossed** I hope they do a good job with it, they could tarnish a symbol.

i think this could end up being allright. i dont mind brittany murphy, i think she could do an allright job with this. and yeah itll be weird having tink talk, but i mean even mickey had to evolve with the time. besides if its going straight to dvd, if it sucks we can all just pretend like it didnt happen, like bambi 2 or hunchback of notre dame 2....:lookaroun

I remember rumblings about this a while back, but it never seemed like it would actually happen. There was some resistance about Tink actually speaking.

I for one feel that it's a mistake to take a character that has never once spoken in how many years and give her a voice..

Thought I might have some quotes from some animators on Tinkerbell, but at the moment I can't find them, I'll see if I can hunt them down...only 13 more books to go through.

It is VERY dissapointing that 1. They're making Tinkerbell talk now 2. They're using Brittany Murphy and 3. It's just dissapointing.

Yikes! A meet and greet would be just as bad. :hurl:

its over 100 years since j m barrie wrote the story and even then she was just a fluttering light that made twinkle sounds

I know, but it's been a rumor for ages in the department. Taking one of the rooms in toontown and turning into a "Lantern" room, so when you go in, it feels like you've shrunk down to Tinkerbell's size.

I think I heard something about that... Where the queue would make you feel as though you were getting smaller and smaller. Or was that some sort of nightmare I had? :veryconfu

I think we all need to stop and remember what's really important here... ALL THE MERCHANDISE DISNEY WILL SELL AS A RESULT OF THIS MOVIE! I mean... come on!

Ill give it a chance...but Brittany Murphy? Why not Jessica Alba...she is what I would want Tinkerbell to sound like.

I agree, Jessica Alba would be better as Tink's voice though I read "Fairy Dust and the Quest for the Egg" and felt that she didn't really behave like the Tink I remember from Peter Pan. (It was an overall good book, though) I hope they give her more of her "Peter Pan" attitude in the movie.

I'm sure that's just what their after too. Like Disney doesn't promote enough merchandise to little girls. Now they'll have a whole line of fairies to collect.

as they are doing a movie i would prefer them to do it in the classic disney animation rather than cgi
I agree.

I'll answer your poll....Tink will never make it solo to the big screen unless they release a third Peter Pan sequel. A movie solely devoted to Tink really wouldn't do well in the theatres for one reason, it would be strictly aimed at a young female audience only. There aren't too many young boys interested in going to see Tinkerbell in the theatres, put Peter Pan and Capt. Hook in there and you have a different story. I just don't think a Tink solo movie would be able to recover costs (feature theatrical costs, that is) going into the theatre. A theatrical feature costs more than direct-to-video movies(sequels or original). And to alienate the young male demographic from a theatrical movie is normally certain doom. There have been some movies that have done so, but none of them have honestly done very well.

I read on another site that Tinkerbell has indeed spoken before, though I don't remember it clearly. I think the movie was "Hook" and according to someone...said she was chatty and very talkative. I know I've seen the movie, but I honestly couldn't tell you anything about it.
