Timewise, is this feasible?

Going to spend a day at MGM. So I need to get there at opening and rent a wheel chair and then leave for a little bit as we have a the castle princess breakfast at the castle in MK.

I am driving. the breakfast is at 945 am. MGM opens at 9am.

So is it feasible to go to MGM, rent, and bingo back in time for the breakfast?

If so would it be quicker to drive to the MK monorail hub and take the monorail from there, or Epcot and take that monorail? which would be closer to MGM and fastest way back to MK? thanks..t

You can take monorail to Epcot and ride the ferry from Epcot to MGM. But there is no way you can do it in 45 minutes, unless the crowds are LIGHT!

Why do you need to go to MGM that morning at all? Are you just dropping someone off there? If you rent a wheelchair at MGM you can't take it out of the park. You will need to check out another one once you got to MK.

Getting from one park to another in only 45 minutes is tricky with a car let alone Disney transportation. Your best bet is to take the bus. I can't remember if the park to park bus drops you off at the MK entrance or the TTC but if it drops you at the TTC the ferry is generally your best bet if you can catch it before it leaves. The express monorail can be faster but it is dependent on the number of people in line for it. If there is little or no line the express monorail will be quicker than the ferry.

The best thing would be to start at MK then dive to MGM after breakfast.

Not gonna happen.
Even with light crowds the travel time, getting through the gates, etc. would put it out of reach for 45min.

I don't understand why you need to go to MGM in the morning, maybe you should just have your breakfast at Cindy's and then hit up MGM. That makes a lot more sense unless there is some possible reason you have to be at MGM first which I couldn't possibly think of.

I guess i'm not clear on why you have to go to MGM to rent the wheelchair before going over to MK. Why not just rent the chair when you go back to MGM after breakfast unless you are going on a really busy day and you're afraid they will run out of chairs by the time you get back. After you rent the chair what will you do with it when you leave to go to MK since you can't take it with you?
Anyway, I don't think it can be done either. If it is a busy day, driving from MGM to MK isn't easy and I'm pretty sure involves a few traffic lights and turns and waiting in line at the parking booth and then waiting to park. From there it could be another long wait for the ferry or to get on the monorail. If you are alone and you really know your way around and you get lucky and don't have to wait for any boats/monorails/buses then its possible but still not very likely.

Unless you have some pixie dust you'll never make it. Why not switch your days around if you're going to be at MK for breakfast why not stay there. Either that or go for your breakfast and then head over to MGM.

Im with everyone else on this......your plan does not really make any sense at all. Why would you go rent a chair then leave and go to another park:veryconfu Like everybody said if you do that what are you going to do with the chair after you rent it?? Clarify so that we can help you more????

Even with all the saints on your side, catching every break, catching every green light, no wait to get into MGM, no wait to get a wheelchair. no wait to get back to your car or to get Disney transportation to MK, the odds of you making it are ridiculously slim to absolutely none.

Plus, it sounds to me like, since you're ending the day at MGM, and that's why you're going to MGM first. You intend to rent a wheelchair at MGM, bring it to MK, use it there, than go back to MGM where you will return the chair at the end of the day. Was that the plan? I could be wrong.

As others have said, I'm pretty sure you can only use a wheelchair at the park where it is rented, you can't bring it from park to park. So that might save you some grief anyway. Sounds to me like you'll have to rent a chair at MK, use it for the breakfast, then return it, and get another one when you get to MGM. Chances are, however, if you keep the receipt, you won't have to pay to rent another wheelchair, you'll just risk them running out by the time you get there.

The only other thing I can suggest is to talk to Guest Relations at the resort where you're staying, and see if they might have wheelchairs or can help you make advance preparations for wheelchairs in both parks. Not ever having tried it, I have no idea if they CAN help you, but I find that when you explain to a CM what you're trying to do and why, as long as it's not an unreasonable request ("My daughter wants to be awakened each morning by a different Disney princess, she wants to ride Mickey Mouse like a Pony, and she wants Chip & Dale to re-enact the 'Am I a clown? Do I amuse You?' scene from Goodfellas, no snap to it!") they make the effort to make it happen for you.

Are you staying on property? If so, just get a wheelchair in the lobby or wherever they keep them. They are free on a first-come, first-serve basis and you keep it for the duration of your stay. That can save you time and money.

We got one in November at AS Sports for my grandma and used our car. We folded up the chair to get on the trams and one day we had gone to GF and took the monorails to Epcot.

Are you just visiting for one day or is that the only day you will be switching parks? If you are going to be there for a few days and somebody in your party needs a chair to get around then you might want to consider renting from an off site agency. I'm not sure of the particulars, but I know it has been mentioned numerous times here (so a quick search should bring up the companies, etc mentioned).

You cannot take a chair from the park it it rented in so you would just be wasting your time going to MGM first to try and get a chair. Best of luck to you

hi and thanks all..sorry took so long to get back to you...

Well I had tried to change the breakfast to a different day...but no luck...

I think the reason for doing MGM is the magic hour...can't remember why...I know it won't take all day but I wanted to spend that extra hour taking some still photos and videoing the osborne lights.

The only reason I thought of this way, was the motorized ones are first come first serve....and if I reserve one at mgm and leave and come back the same day they hold it for me with my receipt...so that was why I thought to get it first thing when it opened.. and it would be there for me when I got back from the breakfast. It has been 2 years since i have been..but thought since am driving, be there when the gate opens, reserve the chair and over to the closest monorail hub and onto the MK...maybe 30-45 min , but as i said, i have not been in awhile so not sure of the distances and so forth.

My main reason was just to ensure that I got a chair, preferably a motorized one. thanks..t

The osborne lights are at night :veryconfu

And it's still too far a distance to even fathom getting there in half an hour/45 minutes. If you're driving, you have to account traffic, parking, waiting for the tram, waiting in the bag check line, waiting in the ticket line...

I think you should just do the breakfast and head to MGM when you're done. You should be able to rent an ECV when you get to the park. Worst-case scenario? Get a regular wheelchair. I don't think you can just reserve these things. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I'm not sure how many people are in your party, but if you have two able-bodied adults ... everyone else in your party goes to straight to the MK in the morning. You take the car to MGM, get there before park open (make sure you're not carrying any bags!), and when the park opens, go right to the wheelchair line. After reserving the chair, you run like a maniac back out to your car. You drive to the TTC, hop the next monorail to the MK (again, no bags!), and join the rest of your party at Cindy's. You'll be a little late.

You should be able to rent that wheelchair at the MK and when you turn it in keep your receipt and get a wheelchair issued when you get to MGM. I believe that this service is offered for wheelchairs as well as strolllers. Hope this helps.

It is, but there is no guarantee that what he needs will be available when he arrives. I have seen people turned away because there were none turned back in at the time.

If you are going to be there a few days it still may be better to rent what you need from an offsite company and be able to use it at the parks, parking lots and resorts.
