Fall 2007.

and yea I gotta agree. Monsters Inc. DOES NOT belong in Tomorrowland. I also keep hearing about an Incredibles ride and possibly even a CARS overlay of Indy speedway. Where does the line get drawn with all these cartoons replacing original attractions??

Why would you say what are these idiots from Pixar? This isn't a decision Pixar would make.. These decisions come from WDI and Disney management..

"I will stand by the original statement. Let your money and ideas do the talking. If you really don't like it, be sure to send a letter and say why and that it and other things might be affecting your decision to return. Love of an attraction doesn't speak. Enough people that don't feel the excitement to go or to tell others does."

One step ahead of you, I have sent 2 letters - one to disney and one to pixar. This was one month ago and I still havn't heard a reply! I don't expect them to stop building the ride its just upsetting that they are slowly getting ride of walts ideas and they do not even have the decency to reply to the letter! I am not slating any individual persons ideas and beleifs I am just stating my case for why its a stupid idea.

Your absoluetly right. It is still a bad decision however.

Why can't we get back to making rides based on ORIGINAL properties? or even looking to sci fi outside of film like novels (Jules Verne, H.G.Wells, Orson Scott Card), Video Games, or comics?

I thought that Pixar was part of the disney corperation and had a say in which rides are to be built. I may of read this info wrong but with future possible rides like the incredibles (another pixar movie) being built over indy speedway suggests a big influence on getting rid of classic rides and replacing with pixar based movie rides.

forget about Disney they wont read your letter. Try to send a letter about your disgust with Pixar attractions to Pixar HQ, John Lasseter or Pete Docter. Lasseter usually replies to letters.

Oh and the Incredibles ride is slated to be built where COP/Galaxy Theater/Skyway station currently sits (supposedly its gonna be a big e-ticket) not over indy speedway. Speedway is rumored to become a CARS tie in. Something will have to happen to the TTA too to make way for the Incredibles ride.

Let`s hope this is the last of Eisners parting shots. The more I find out, the more I find how much he actually harmed the parks over the past decade.

It would be majorly upsetting to lose TTA aswel, if this happens then tomorowland will truly be gone and forgotten. I can see PIXARLAND in the distance :(

Actually Bob Iger greenlit "Monsters Inc.:The Laugh Floor". Though it was done pre-pixar buyout.

Themes are nice and all, but...

the parks thrive on viable attractions that bring people back again and again. I, for one, am disappointed not in the foundation of the attraction (a film I and my family very much enjoy), but in the prospect that it may amount to little more than a clone of Turtle Talk. This, to me, displays a lack of creativity and a desire to capitalize quickly and easily on the popularity of the characters without exercising the Imagineers' brains.

The real problem is that somewhere in the Disney corporate offices lives an evil little gnome who keeps whispering, "Make every movie an attraction, and every attraction a movie," into the power brokers' ears.

For those who lament the pending destruction of Tomorrowland's theming, please explain to me how Carosel of Progress (which seems like it belongs on Main Street, U.S.A. or at EPCOT) or the Tomorrowland Indy Speedway fit into that theme. I don't really get it.

I think Tomorowland speedway was the 1950's idea of low fuel emition cars that could be run on electricity....i think :lookaroun while the carosel of progress is ment to be a look on how the past may effect the future and if you remember they have a future scene that puts all the pieces together, but then again this was also a 1960's look on the future may unfold (agreed this should be put into main street though, main street needs another attraction!). Look at it either way they both fit into the theme of 'the future that never was' idea

I still hear that the big Incredibles attraction (likely a clone of the robocoaster concept being developed for DCA) is one of the ideas being considered by the park's blue-sky team.
I'll be a while, though. Last I was told, DCA's version has been bumped back to a 2009-2010 time frame.

I can confirm it will be using Turtle Talk technology.

What a waste!!! :(

That is pretty sad to hear because at least the Timekeeper was an attraction that had some meaning. Talking to Mike or Sulley or any monster from that movie just doesn't do it for me. But... Disney- You do whatever floats your boat...

SO, just trying to think out loud, how many of the charcter imports/overlays have really been successful at WDW? I am going through the list in my head, and it's not been a pretty picture.

Tiki, SGE, Diamond Horseshoe, Dinosaur...

Buzz worked well, but I think that has a lot more to do with the interactive element than it does Buzz (personally).

TLS is the only one that seems to have worked well because of the characters. Again, though, I think it could have found success with original characters, too.

Where is it claiming the expense of destruction and rebuilding is enhanced with these "marketable" characters? It seems to me like they may not be doing quite what the beancounters off the front lines may consider them to.

Just a thought...
