Welcome to the practice prompt! We need to practice on what we are going to do in this challenge before we take a trip around the two US parks. So for practice today we are going to overhaul Monster Inc! I personally love this ride but I don’t think it is getting much popularity because it is hidden in the back and doesn’t have any new things going on. So to help you, here is the backstory.

Backstory
When DCA opened there was a terrible ride called Superstar Limo, which closed in January of 2002, and people would not ride it. So after 4 years of having no ride in that area, Monster Inc. Mike and Sulley to the Rescue opened on January 23rd, 2006. From that point on I have been hearing things like “There is no Monster Inc ride” or “Where is that”. I think that it is time for a Disney Overhaul!

Remember!
You can start from scratch or use the existing building.
Stay in the that area and don’t extend the building.
No old or extinct concepts/rides
Maximum of 50 sentences & minimum of 3 sentences
You have till July 25th 7:30 PM PST
Have Fun and Good Luck!

Korg & Miek To The Rescue
Korg-and-Miek-in-Thor-Ragnarok.jpg

Replacing Mike & Sully to the Rescue, Disney imagineers felt that the Hollywood theme clashed too much with the new Mission: BREAKOUT attraction at the end of their street corner. So to wall of the building so to speak, and expand the Marvel territory in the park, into a fully fleshed out cosmic land (being the veil of 'Marvel Studios land to technically tie in with the California theme) they embarked on a new adventure themed around the hit 2017 film, Thor: Ragnarok

With a relatively inexpensive overlay, the basic premise of Mike & Sully morphed nicely into two lovable characters from the Ragnarok film, Korg & Miek. This adventure takes place on Sakaar, the alien junkyard planet that Thor and Loki were banished to within the film. Korg & Miek are both gladiators in The Grandmaster's games, the Grandmaster being the ruler of Sakaar. When you find the characters, they claim that a revolution has begun and they need your help to shine a light on any guards or creatures who might be in the way of their escape.

Using the same track as Mike & Sully, Korg & Miek will follow essentially the same path, as the guests help them find and disarm anyone in their path. This attraction will bring more Marvel comics into the park, help distinguish Hollywood from the Marvel properties, and give the Marvel cosmic universe its own land on the northeast plot in DCA.

In this ride, guests play the role of actors starring in a monster movie. All goes well until a real monster shows up on set. Now they have to escape the set and trap the monster. They will go through sets of other productions that are being destroyed by the chaos. The ride type will be the same or similar to the mummy at both universal parks, adding extra thrills to the experience.

Muppet Mayhem
abJEUvO.jpg
With the opening of Pixar Pier, Disney decided that having a Pixar attraction so far away from the land was counter productive. With "A Bug's Land" being used for a Marvel Expansion, and Galaxy's Edge coming to Disneyland, the Disney Company decided that they might as well tie in the other major purchase from the Iger Era into a land for California Adventure.

While half of Hollywood Land is taken up by the Marvel expansion, the other half of the land that was formerly "Hollywood Land" has now begun its transformation into "Muppet Studios" (in an effort to keep the California theming) based entirely around the zany crew of lovable misfits created and made popular by Jim Henson. While everything in the land will eventually be getting a Muppet-ified touch up, the first thing to go is Mike and Sulley to the Rescue!

Using the exact same track in the beginning (for a third time now), the Muppets will take over the old Superstar Limo building with a zany attraction known as "Muppet Mayhem." Guests will board a vehicle, called the Muppet Mover, and will begin as a leisurely tour of Muppet Studios, guided by a video of Kermit on the screen. Each turn in the beginning half of the attraction will take you through a room to witness the muppets doing Muppet-y things. Pass through Dr. Honeydew's lab and see the Dr and his assistant Beaker testing out a new Thing-a-mah-jiggy. You pass through the Swedish Chef's Kitchen where the chef is chasing after one of Camilla's friends.

After a few more sets, you finally enter the room where the Electric Mayhem is Performing. Animal gets a little bit too into his drumming, causing the electricity to go out, leaving the guests in a pitch black room, only hearing Animal's screaming. Suddenly, Kermit comes on the screen and says that he's going to get his best guys to get us out. Suddenly, Gonzo and Scooter push their way onto the screen, Scooter warning you that this may get bumpy because they don't actually have a layout of the studios, so they're going just as blind as you. Gonzo then lifts up a large red button and says "have fun!" and pushes it. The screen goes black and the Muppet Mover takes onto the new section of track where the twists and turns are sudden and unexpected and the vehicle goes very quick. Every turn, you hear a muppet yelling to watch where you're going as well as some other wacky effects.

Finally, Kermit comes back on the screen, telling you that they've almost got the power back. As soon as the power comes back, your Muppet Mover is face to face barreling towards a pie truck driven by Fozzie (a la Test Track.) The Muppet Mover swerves just quick enough to avoid a creamy travesty, but you hear a huge crash, the sound of pies being smashed, and Fozzie calling for help. Kermit comes back on the screen and apologizes for the detour and tells you they should probably drop you off early instead of finishing the tour. With that, you reach the loading/unloading dock and head back out into the new Muppet Studios.

The Hollywood Adventure

Mike and Sully to the Rescue has always been an odd attraction in Hollywood Land- it covers an older IP, is situated in a small corner, and doesn’t thematically tie to the rest of the land. Therefore, Disney’s Imagineers are proud to announce a new attraction in the location: The Hollywood Adventure.

The Hollywood Adventure is an educational and exciting experience celebrating film, only at Disney’s California Adventure! Guests board tour buses and through a film studio, witnessing the development of a movie from Writing to World Premier.

Guests begin in a 1930’s room and que, with posters of all the “legendary” films from Voyage to the Moon to Infinity War. Right before boarding, the whole group takes a picture. Guests board a car, which is audio narrated by our tour guide.

From here, we enter the tunnel with surrounding screens. As we travel through, the screens show us clips of legendary films. We are then taken to the first stage of filmmaking- the writing. The audio. animatronic writer is having a creative block, pounding their head on the desk. Suddenly a lightbulb pops over their head, and they begin writing furiously.

Next comes the large pre-production room, where madness ensues. Actors enthusiastically line up to audition for parts whilst the casting director nearly far asleep, unimpressed. The production crew attempt to build a complicated set, but it keeps breaking. The director meets with the art team.
1532460132135.png

Next up is financing, where one of the suits is asleep as the producer shows them graphs. After that is biggest room- production, where all eyes on the set. Next is special effects, where dozens of people work at computers, culminating with the editor and director cutting the film.
1532460171694.png

The final room is marketing, where people are seen negotiating deals and promoting the film. At the end we find ourselves on the red carpet for the world premiere. Using facial recognition, the posters for the finale use the riders’ faces, taken from the pictures prior to boarding. After walking through the theater doors, the ride arrives at the exit. You can purchase these custom poster (all spoofs of famous movies) with your face after riding.

This ride hopefully fits to the theme unlike Monsters, without being terrible like Superstar Limo. Signs around Hollywood Land will point to the ride without harming the theme, drawing in crowds to the northeast corner.

This is such a fun idea! I love how you incorporated Marvel instead of sticking with the Hollywood theme! Thor Ragnarok was such a fun movie and deserved more attention! This is a great way to show it with a ride to add to Marvel Land!

To be honest I actually wasn't expecting this! I really like it though! The whole movie monster thing is really good! I love adding that mummy ride thrill to it. that would really bring more to the teen crowd. Great Job!

This is such a fun attraction to add and it works perfectly! I love you added new tracks and brought back Muppets back into the spotlight at DCA! The ride was very detailed and had an amazing story line. I think it was a great idea that you added the car with gonzo. I loved it so much :hilarious: Amazing job.

Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage

We are at our first stop! This Nemo Subs are old. The projections are fading, water is getting murky, and algae is everywhere. Time for a Disney Overhaul!

Backstory
This ride used to be loosely based on the USS Nautilus, which was the first nuclear-powered submarine, and its voyage to the North Pole in 1958. It closed on September 9, 1998 with hoping to get a new theme soon. In 2001 a mock-up was made for an Atlantis: The Lost Empire themed ride. It was never built because of the low performance in the box office. Later they considered The Little Mermaid and Treasure Planet but both failed in the creative process. They WDI considered destroying the whole ride and starting from scratch until they got their hand on a new piece of teach that will help the ride around the time Finding Nemo was being made. Bob Iger firsts project when he became CEO was the Nemo. This lead to the submarines being announced on July 15, 2005. The wait was over for the new ride when it opened on June 11, 2007.

Mysterious seas
Underwater-Cities.jpg

This ride will be an indoor dark ride, meaning the lagoon will be drained and torn down for this new experience. However it will stick with the underwater theme. Guests are part of a science club who found a secret tunnel in the water containing an ancient city that was forgotton to time. Guests board the viewmarine. A special type of submarine where instead of portholes, it has one big long window. They find a whole society full of mermaids, who swim around, wave at guests and walk their pet fishes. Then they see some scared mermaids, they try to warn the guests, but it's too late, the boat is pulled deep into the depths of the water by an unknown sea creature. All people can see of it are it's eyes and teeth. It's like a mixture of many sea creatures, similar to how the alien encounter alien was a mixture of many bugs. The boat gets chased by the mysterious creature until it goes back up safely to land.

The Vibranium Submarine
1532632172699.png
Replacing the old and forgotten Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, Disney’s Imagineering Division is proud to announce The Vibranium Submarine, a brand-new attraction starring characters from the 2018 juggernaut Black Panther and exploring a new section of the ever-expanding MCU. The adventure is considered canon within the series, taking place after Black Panther but before Infinity War.

A new afro-futurism queue introduces any guests unfamiliar with Black Panther to Wakanda and Vibranium. From there, we enter a preshow where T’Challa himself explains the situation. Wakandan Drones have detected large traces of Vibranium at the seafloor. They believe there may be a second meteor on Earth, and it is imperative they find it before anyone else. Shuri will be controlling the submarine remotely.

The submarine itself has been replaced with a sleek futuristic model- it’s also larger and sports long windows, so everyone can see without being confined to a single circular window. Once all guests have boarded, the submarine goes underwater, narrated by Shuri.

Shuri explains the vibranium submarine can resist greater pressure than any other submarine and will visit regions no one has ever visited. Once the submarine submerges for a second time into the deep ocean, the screens show all sorts of fantasy creatures. Things get weirder and weirder, and ancient ruins begin to appear (this is most of the ride).

Suddenly the power cuts out and everything turns black. Shuri explains this as a technical malfunction but is interrupted by flashes of blue light and a strange voice. It asks why the land-dwellers dare enter his kingdom. He tells us people shouldn’t try to steal everything. Shuri apologizes, claiming we didn’t know about any kingdom. But the voice, who calls himself Namor, states you must pay. The submarine rocks uncontrollably in complete darkness.

Just as Namor is to strike a killing blow, the power abruptly turns on with the logo of Stark Industries. Tony Stark, having hacked the system beforehand, asks if they need a lift.
1532631775636.png

The Iron Legion (animatronics hidden under the sub until now) lifts the submarine back up to the surface and to safety. When T’Challa askes how the assignment went, Shuri says they didn’t find anything.

The Rocketeer
KDmyZjl.jpg
Disneyland has been changing to a more IP based theme park under the Iger era. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea being replaced by Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage saw the removal of a not very popular IP and the birth of a newer, more popular one in its place. However, after adding Nemo to the submarine attraction, Disney just kind of left it to slowly deteriorate into obscurity. Now, Pixar is bigger and better than ever (kind of) in DCA at the Pixar Pier, so Disney decided that Nemo just didn't need to take up any more of the precious land that it does.

"Tomorrowland is finally going under a refurbishment" said Chairman of Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products Bob Chapek at the 2019 D23 Expo. "Gone are the days where we have to shoehorn in properties because we can't predict the future. Instead, we are taking inspiration from Paris's Discoveryland. But instead of a Jules Verne futuristic look, we're taking a United States 1950's what the future could be. Back in the hayday where Walt himself dreamed of space travel, robots, and flying cars. This is what Disneyland's Tomorrowland will become."

Because submarines weren't a huge part of this 1940's-1950's look at the future, the Nemo Submarine Journey will be closing down for good. In fact, the entirety of the submarine area will be closed, the pond drained, and the rockwork demolished. In its place, a brand new building will be erected. The building will look like an old Hollywoodland movie theater, the sign reading "Hollywood Hills Theater Presents: The Rocketeer." Inside, the queue is very similar to the old Great Movie Ride queue, but instead, exclusively featuring props from the 1991 Disney film "The Rocketeer".

Guests pass through the queue and finally enter a pre-show room where Peevy (played by a de-aged Alan Arkin) has improved his jetpack design after receiving the blueprints at the end of the first movie. Peevy explains that they will be able to use his jetpack to fly all over 1940s Hollywood, including up and over the newly repaired Hollywoodland sign (referencing the destroyed "land" portion of the sign at the end of the film). Here, Peevy explains that he will be hooking guests up to their rockets and they'll be going for a high-speed flight, so any pregnant women, people with heart conditions, back problems, etc, or anyone with a fear of heights may want to use the exit at the end of the preshow room.

Guests then enter the loading area that makes you feel like you are outside at night in 1940s Hollywood. The Hollywoodland sign and Griffith Observatory off in the distance (using forced perspective). There is a loading dock (almost exactly like the one in Disney World's Rock 'n' Roller Coaster) but instead of the cars pulling in on the ground, instead, harnesses pull in suspended from a track on the ceiling. Yes, this is Disney's first ever suspended roller coaster. The ride vehicles are much like "Manta" at SeaWorld Orlando where guests lie on their stomach and the vehicle is above them.

Guests hook into their harnesses and launch out of the chute (again, much like Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, but less fast) into the Hollywood skyline. There is some flying over the buildings and lights and sounds play in the guests ears. Guests weave in between tall buildings, up and down, and finally, up towards the Griffith Observatory. However, suddenly, a giant (projected) Zeppelin rises up in front of the jetpacks, making you take a sudden turn, going around the zeppelin. They begin firing at the jetpacks, but you are able to turn and dodge them. However, just as you are approaching the Griffith Observatory, the zeppelin rises again, without enough time to avoid it, the vehicle goes right through it, crashing down into the Hollywoodland sign, once again taking out the "Land" part of the sign.

The jetpack uses what little life it has left to wheel guests to the exit dock in the Griffith Observatory, and out into the Rocketeer's Workshop gift shop that sells Rocketeer and Tomorrowland merchandise.
