Tickets -- best options?

Has anyone used the "Least Expensive Ticket Options" link on www.TouringPlans.com?

My husband and I will be at Disney World from Feb 7-11. We'll arrive early enough on Feb 7 and leave late enough on Feb 11 to allow us to visit at least one park all 5 days of our trip. We'll probably add the Park Hopper to give ourselves options. Out of curiosity, I tried the TouringPlans.com link. Entering our info, it gave our best price/deal as being "Disney ticket gate". Can I trust the quote this site gave me?

The price it quoted was a big savings from buying in advance from Disney's site and picking up at Will Call. Should we just wait until we arrive and buy our tickets at the gate? Is it for some reason more expensive to buy in advance?

There's a strong chance we would use the Park Hopper option on only one day of our visit. Is it better to buy the 5-day pass in advance and add the Hopper at the park if we decide to use it? Just FYI, we've been to Disney before, and the park we might "hop" to one day would be going to AK around 4 p.m. for evening EMH (or going to Epcot after 5:00 one day to see Illuminations). Is there a price break for entering a park after 4 p.m.?

Sorry I can't really answer your question. I've never heard of the tickets being cheaper at the gate... but you don't save that much from buying them in advance either (if you save any at all).

Undercovertourist sometimes has some deals/specials on... you can check them out to see if they have anything that suits your needs.

I would reevaluate if the Park Hopper option is really necessary if you're only going to be using it once! Especially if you're trying to save a few dollars on your ticket!

There is a cheaper ticket for after 2pm or 4pm entrance but it's only available to conference goers (I'm pretty sure).

So, your only option for going to two parks in the same day is adding the PH option to your ticket. I guess you will have to decide whether or not it is worth it!

IIRC on our last visit we had a bought in advance a 5-day ticket with no Park Hopper. We ended up adding PH on our 3rd day and I calculated that it was only ~$6.00 more than we would have paid buying the 5-day with PH in advance. We're saving money in some other ways, so $10 or so on the tickets isn't a big deal.

Adding to or upgrading your tickets costs exactly the same as buying the tickets that way from Disney in the first place. For example, the park hopper option costs $52 + tax ... this is true whether you buy your ticket as a park hopper or add the park hopper during your trip.

Disney itself offers no discount for buying tickets in advance OR at the gate. It's always the same price (unless there is a special resort stay + tickets package going on).

Thanks for your responses! Undercover Tourist doesn't save us anything for 5 days with PH, but I'm also going to get a quote from my local AAA office. At least I know I can just wait and get our tickets at Disney, when we can see the weather forecast and make our plans accordingly.

My family are AAA members and they do not offer that much of a deal either, I think it is an average of $10.00 pp. So my family of 3 might have saved $30.00. Honestly trying to find a great saving of a free day ( or something like) that is when Disney offers the 4day get 3 days. honestly any great deals on park tickets is not out there, since really Disney controls that.

What AAA told us was that the deal that they were giving us is what the agreement between them/Disney will allow.

The only thing that really concerns me is that Disney might suddenly increase ticket prices on February 1 or something like that. What time of year do the price increases usually happen and is there any warning?

Price increases

Disney, usually, will increase prices about once a year. Sites like WDWMAGIC will give you enough warning, about 1 month in advance, for
the increase. So watch this site and others. Personally, in the past if we
were going to the World and needed tickets with a price increase warned, I would immediately other tickets before the change is to occur.:sohappy:
