Tiana's Riverboat Party with Festival of Fantasy Parade viewing coming soon

Yes, Tiana and Naveens New Orleans breakfast party could be great. You could get the benefits of the early morning fantasyland entry (selected rides until 9am) and then breakfast and a meet from 9am to 10am.
This would work without taking the riverboat out of commission in the middle of the day. But I wonder if Disney would be willing to pay for the additional face character wages. With this dessert party, they have Tiana and Naveen showing up for the dessert party and parade in back to back appearances. A breakfast would substantially increase their time in the parks.

Don't forget that WDW also gets to 'save' on the CM wages to operate the Liberty Belle during the party as that's a job requiring live steam skills so it's not something they can assign a random CP'er with 5 minutes training to. It actually requires people certified to operate a boiler and steam engine.

I think that dinner would be far more likely, especially if FoF is actually getting night showings soon.

I would think that if the boat is on and powered up they still have to pay. I mean when I go gambling in Louisiana even though the "boat" is stationary there is still a Captain on duty because it's on.
This goes even for the casinos on water that look nothing like a boast but more a floating building.

I understand how these cash grabs are a bit overwhelming and sometimes down right baffling. That being said, no one is holding a gun to your head to partake in them. If some people want to spend their money on these "upgrades" then so be it. I wouldn't personally but I'm not going to deter someone else from doing so.

Buy yourself an ice cream on Main Street, grab a spot to watch the parade, and bam, you just saved 40 dollars. Problem solved for the deterrents of this cash grab.
Oh how ironic this post is now.... grabbing an ice cream... oops... can't avoid that crash grab there either now :)

I still really like the concept. It fits Tiana remarkably well but the execution (bad viewing spot, no autographs) just sounds miserable. I wouldn't mind seeing the boat turned into a dining experience if done right (Tiana-centic breakfast/dinner before or after boat operating hours with live performances, jazz band, Mardi Gras theming with genuinely exclusive characters like Charlotte or Mama Odie) and I absolutely would cough up however much it would cost to enjoy something like that. That said, I can't see any worth in this party as it stands.

Can't say I would be a fan of this. I love climbing aboard the Liberty Belle for a ride and getting to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Magic Kingdom while still relaxing a little bit and getting away from heart of the hustle and the bustle. The same goes for Tom Sawyer's Island and Walt Disney World Railroad, though I would prefer to see some improvements made to the railroad to make it a little more engaging. I guess I'm just a sucker for turn of the century Americana.

I know this is an old thread but I just got back from WDW and went on this so I thought I would share my experience.

I had no idea this existed until we were walking by and saw the "reservations available" sign. Initially when we heard the price, we were going to pass (it was my mom and myself, $50 each, my 6 year old who was $30 - my littlest was free). But this was a pretty inexpensive trip for us (yay for cashing in old park hoppers that never expired!) so we decided to go for it. My mom loves parades but we never watch them because I hate standing in crowds. And we've never met Tiana or Naveen before.

I haven't read through all the past posts so I don't know if this has been covered but I'll tell you how our experience went. You first walk into the "holding area" where they have ice cream with a bunch of toppings and small cupcakes and pastries. Tiana and Naveen are there taking posed photos. Then they leave to go do the parade, and you board the boat. The boat pulls forward from the dock only slightly and that's where you watch the parade from. I saw some comments that the viewing was not good - it was great for us. We saw the parade as it passed the Diamond Horseshoe and could see everything. Many of the characters waved right to the boat as they passed, which was fun.

There are unlimited snacks on the boat the entire time - ice cream bars (Mickey, frozen bananas, ice cream sandwiches and fruit bars), bags of candied popcorn in mardi gras colors, and salted popcorn, bags of pretzels, cotton candy, and water bottles and soda cans. You can really take as much of everything as you want - and everyone stocked up on snacks to go before gettting off the boat too (we joked it was our mission to eat and/or take $50 each in snacks and drinks - with park prices for these things what they are, I honestly think we came close!). We almost ate our admission fee in Mickey ice cream pops alone!

After the parade, the boat goes back to the dock, picks up Tiana and Naveen and then goes around the river. Cast members hand out mardi gras beads and instruments to the kids, and they have a parade around the boat and dance party with the characters. Then it's back to the dock and it's all done.

It was our favorite part of our trip this time, and we had some pretty epic moments this trip! As my 6 year old was chowing down on a cup of gummy bears she said "this is TOTALLY worth it" :) I would say there were only about 15 families on our boat, which meant that the kids really got a lot of attention from the characters. Tiana was super sweet and Naveen was goofy and fun. We will definitely be doing this again.

You made this sound really nice! Glad you had such a nice time. I might consider this now.
