Is TRON leaving virtual queue now or two in the same park?
Looks like Tron will be staying on VQ, unless something changes within the next month (which I doubt). They are adding TBA to the regular Genie+ lineup, so adding Tron to that also wouldn't make much sense (to Disney) and it will keep being ILL along with SDMT.

And having 2 VQs in the same park isn't that uncommon. The app and VQ backend API can handle it.

I’d love to hear the internal rationale for going to VQ during AP previews, vs. the previous previews during which one could select specific dates and times. This really handicaps out of town APs. So, even though I have an AP and was lucky enough to snag a park reservation during the system meltdown, I could spend $ to fly down and stay, and still not get on? While locals could secure multiple park reservations, and ride multiple times during the previews.

I guess the previous system had its own problems, with a lot of APs not being able to secure preview times. Just seems odd to not limit previews to one ride (apparently).

No one would recommend booking a flight for this opportunity. Just wait two weeks until it’s open daily to all.

As with DVC, the rationale behind this move is to select guests who actually plan to be in the park and aren’t haphazardly grabbing a preview pass “just in case.”

Fair enough. And looks as if, with the lack of ILL, everybody is going to be playing the G+ and/or VQ 7am button dance each morning, at least until things settle down.

Doesn't the ride shut down for weather/lightning? VQ is the "chance" to ride if/when your boarding is called. With weather they could 'by chance' not get to all the boarding groups; and that's the chance you take when you book it and may be more expected/outlined. If you booked a timeslot and weather shuts it down it would be treated different, possibly with one of those "anytime" fast passes, but possibly not even for TBA. I'm sure it would have some kind of stipulation just like VQ would; but I think people treat the "but I booked a specific time" a lil differently than waiting for their number to be called

(Hopefully that makes sense, I couldn't think how to word it well)

Thankfully, this opens in June, so I doubt they’ll see much fluctuation in demand between 84 degree sunshine at 9 am, 94 degree sunshine at 1 pm, or a cool 89 degrees under a moonlit sky at 9 pm.
You say this, but if history is to be believed for any and all water rides in central Florida, they still drop in demand after the sun goes down. It has less to do with the temperature, and more with the fact that the sun dries out your clothes. People don’t want to ride home (or watch the fireworks) soggy.

You don’t think that’s just because all lines shorten at 9 pm?

My hope is that it goes standby every night after 9pm or so.

Anecdotally, people I visit with avoided Splash late because they didn't want to get wet when there was no sun to dry them off.

Edited by mod - So people might not want to get wet on TBA after sundown. I don't want your post to be reported as OT. ;)

That on-ride photo art is really bad. Everything else aside, the non-firefly characters look incredibly generic - they belong on a drugstore birthday card. Were any animators involved in the art design for the ride?

Louis already stood out as the least interesting element of the film because of how closely he adhered to the “Disney animal sidekick” archetype and the ride is leaning heavily into him. The new animals are even worse. There doesn’t seem to be much of what made the PatF movie special in the ride.
This looks like one of those magazine covers you could get at Pleasure Island in the early 90’s.

does the DVC one require a hotel stay or not? This is confusing. It says members plus number of guests on reservation, but doesn't outright say that you need a reservation. I'm wondering if my wife and son can fly down just for the day and wing it. We are (blue) DVC but he can't be on the contract as a minor.

This makes sense for moonlight magic when you have to be there late at night anyway and you get free admission from it, but they are having day previews (using your own tickets/reservations) and then making you stay the night after. Thanks for confirming. If my wife and kid want to go I'll have to get a burner 1BR at Saratoga

You won’t like this answer. ☹️

The info says you have to have a reservation for a Disney Resort made on your membership - so a points stay, cash booking through Member Services, or using points to stay at a non DVC resort.

But you can only book for the number of guests on your reservation as of May 12th.

So it’s too late to book in order to register for the previews. You have to have been booked by the end of Sunday night.
