with the addition of the azaleas, i think shrubbery is what is missing for me in the design. all the vines/ground cover especially near the top are all the same dimension. if there were more "shrubs" and taller elements it's break up the look and add interest
In thick jungle/swamp flowering vines will spread on top of the canopy for the light, might be what they are going for here

this thing looks worse by the day. At first (before the 42 more trips to the walmart floral department) it looked OK, but the more they pile on this thing the faker and worse its looking. Its reminding me of Kings Island tacking pastic buses and vines all over AdventurePort when it opened last year. Now Im not as "unimplressed" with KI when I see tacking plastic plants all over things is the "new industry standard" I can't image how this is going to wear over time

I showed this exact pic to my adult son and asked him what it was.

He guessed a Rainforest Café.

Granted, he hasn’t been to WDW since 2008, but he’s been on Splash dozens and dozens of times.
Well that's good, given that it's trying to look different from Splash

I don't think it looks bad... it's a lot of greenery, I like the cypress trees. There may be a lack of focus in the overall design, but I don't think it looks bad... I loved me some Splash, but I can't complain about the overall look presently. It does look swampy.
They had to pile on the greenery its faster/cheaper than fixing the what's underneath. It is what it is. No matter what, its still a fun log flume ride.
