Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

Until WDI re-tools the fireflies scene and the lift hill, this ride will feel incomplete to me. In its current state, the attraction is “fine” or even “pretty good” but unfinished.

Ideally (based on a combo of what is feasible/ exists now and what I’d like to see) I’d love a story change of something along the lines of Prince Naveen getting turned into a frog again and lost in the dark bayou. On the lifthill we escape Facilier and his friends from the other side with the help of Mama Odie. Give her AA a purpose for being there other than telling us “let’s get to the party.” 🙄

The current critter band scenes could stay relatively the same as the happy intro scenes but maybe instead of them talking to us we could just peek in on Tiana, Naveen, Louis and critters having a good time before the drama unfolds. Right before the second drop we should see Faciliers shadow and Naveen disappearing. Mama Odie still shrinks us but now it’s so we can find Prince Naveen. The frogs and Mondo are still down there doing their thing but it gets cut short right during old burrows lament scenes where the real drama unfolds. This could play out like a classic drama unfolding during a party/ celebration. The opposing tones of joyful music and people (or in this case frogs) partying with the looming danger and Naveen pleading for help in the distance.

All of the above could be done under one million dollars which is nothing to them.

Offical video with broken animatronics. They couldn't have used some B Roll where Tiana and Odie are functional? This is just comical at this point

In the review video on WDW.NT, the footage of Tom and Eric riding the ride has both those animatronics completely still except their mouths. I wonder if it was a B-Mode for early previews? Seems weird to do that. This official video makes me think it's even more likely it was an intentional setting, as if they wanted to "save" the good functioning for the opening in hopes they don't wear themselves out on day 1.
There’s a rumor in the Haunted Mansion Gift Shop thread that Pooh is marked for more Star Wars space.
Are you joking? Why'd they spend all this effort redoing Critter Country to be a new bayou land if they're gonna axe a huge portion of it? Might as well just make it part of NOS at that point

Note they haven't done a thing to make Pooh fit the bayou. They could have left it Critter Country to accommodate both Tiana and Pooh. Now the area only fits Tiana.

Wow 1:09pm and TBA is still closed on opening day. SMH. They turned the water wheel on and the whole thing went haywire haha. Or maybe they wanted to turn on a couple of the fancy new motionless AAs for the big day and the whole system came crashing down.

Opening day jitters?

Seems odd, it was running pretty consistently throughout previews I thought?

I've been loosely monitoring it and it came up around 11:30am for like an hour then went back down.

Now TBA, Pooh, and HMH are down. Maybe they tripped a breaker when they turned on the water wheel 😆

I'm about to head out for the evening, but I just looked at the weather for OC on my phone. It's much cooler than average today, and by 8pm tonight the temp in Anaheim is forecast to be 49 degrees. Brrr!

I'll be interested to see what the wait times are like for this ride through the weekend, after sundown.

Who opens a log ride in November?!? 🧐

The same park who opened their last two new rides in January.

Makes more sense when you realize DLRR doesn't have Lightning Lane. It's not profitable to have people experience the only good part of your new ride without having to go through a lottery or pay up 30 bucks.

I love a good conspiracy theory but I think you are giving them too much credit here. And I know all about that. I do it a lot.

Yep. All WDI needs to add is a moment of foreshadowing during the HDYD section, a suspenseful scene right before the lift hill, and then a re-tooling of Mama Odie at the top of the lift. There MUST be people within WDI who know the ride needs this.
