I thought he was likable. I think most people thought he was very likable. That's the reason they gave him an honorary academy award. Of course, I can't play the "as a black person" race card. I'm just a dude who watched the movie.

Who’s playing the “race card?” I simply mentioned my race to give the respective of a black person looking at a black character.

It’s okay if you and others find him likable. Uncle Remus’ likability is not the reason why James Baskett received an honorary Oscar though.

I also believe it will be more enjoyable in person and will not fully judge until I ride. It really doesn’t look all bad. Like I said, the queue looks interesting. I like our version’s facade, too.

I don’t expect to be wowed by anything Disney produces for the parks anymore. The Tinkerbell hologram is a nice surprise, but I’m not expecting for this “new” PatF ride to be any good. Possibly decent, but not great. Highly doubt Disney will prove me wrong, but we’ll see.
The piece of concept art provided for the Disneyland queue definitely looks good. A bunch of references to high points in Mickey’s career (like Mickey in the Beanstalk). I wish the ride had those type of references. I also wish the Florida queue looked as interesting. But at this rate, who knows. Maybe I’ll be going on the DL version first.

They will start playing Princess and The Frog songs already.
Eventually, but I don't see them spending money on new area music for a while more likely they'll reuse whatever vaguely fits the theme. As I mentioned a few pages back Pooh queue loop is my bet, but I could also see Frontierland and NOS as possible too.

I'm pretty sure this Splash Mountain change started because WDI knew the only way they'd get the necessary funds to restore the DLR ride would be to slap on a new-IP and have that cost shared with other versions.

As some insiders have stated, the DL change is a sure thing. The Florida change is a most likely thing, but it’s definitely after Disneyland.

From what I've pieced together this is what's going on with Splash Mountain:

General:
  • Splash Mountain retheme to Princess and the Frog announced on June 24th.
  • Brer Characters retired from park meet/greets

Walt Disney World
  • Rumored to have been making efforts to have Tokyo pay for their retheme since both rides share mirrored yet identical flume layouts.
  • Rumored internal higher ups have been making efforts to delay indefinitely /cancel retheme.
  • November 2020, D’Amaro claimed retheme has been fast tracked. No evidence aside from the initial statement.
  • Unknown date of closure, if happening.

Disneyland Resort
  • Reopening with Disneyland.
  • Zip a Dee Doo Dah/ Music loops have been removed from music loops around the park.
  • “One More Time” merch is rumored to be released prior to retheme.

Tokyo
  • Has been opposed to retheme from start.
  • Refuses to pay for WDW’s retheme

Is the Tokyo park owned by Disney?

It’s split. Disney owns part of it, but I think the majority is owned by the Oriental Land Company, who payed for most of the park’s construction. Disney just licenses the Disney brand and characters to OLC and plays a part in managing the park.
Nice. It would be great if at least one park held out and kept Splash Mountain. I never knew the WDW version was so different from Disneyland until I got to ride it this year. It seems like the better version. It would still be a bummer to see it replaced at Disneyland, but it would soften the blow to know the better version survived.

Most people are willing to sacrifice DL's, at least begrudgingly because it's show scenes/AAs are def starting to show their age more than WDW.
