Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

This is a Disneyland fan forum, why would you think anyone is giving an objective opinion? We're all here because we're fans of the product. So there will be emotion behind everything.

Yeah... understood. I'm actually not the one advocating that there is an objective side to the reviews coming out. And generally, I'm ok with people just admitting that they liked Splash more. I get the whole nostalgia thing and there's nothing wrong with that.

There is a point though where it becomes less about stating an opinion and more about just being angry and trashing something due to bias that's not even related to what's being presented. I'm pretty sure this forum has crossed that line.

Being on Tiana's is still better than being at school/work/home and a lot of DL guests are going to love it, but somehow I feel that writing that is going to be triggering to some.

Interesting choice of words. Would have made more sense if they included Dr. Facilier. SMH. What’s being summoned on this ride other than a nap?

Including Facilier would ruin the story. They are right not to include him.

See but on the flipside, downplaying preferring Splash as a 'nostalgia thing' does a disservice to the many valid criticisms levied at this attraction.

You all chase off anyone that has had any positivity to say about the attraction, its been going on for 4 years. So why should someone come and give you a personal review just so you can pick it apart.

As @DrAlice said about her experience at WDWs Tiana, "everyone was having a great time, singing along. People left the ride happy and went off in search of merch or beignets to buy. It's a Disney win"

That is all the review that is needed.

Did you see me chase away Dr Alice? And sorry that’s not really a review. What are you going to find people cussing out the ride while they re on it? Not laughing or screaming as they plunge down a 50 foot drop? I know this might sound crazy but when I eventually ride with my son I too will be smiling and excited when I go down the drops but I’ll probably also be sad inside.

You may not have chased her off, but your comment here is so dismissive of her experience and what she saw.

If people aren't having fun do you think they'd be laughing and having a good time? No they would be marching to Guest Services and complaining about their wasted money on a subpar experience. I highly doubt Guest Services got very many complaints after Tiana's opened, other than about its closures.

There’s just no nuance in your world is there?

Not sure why you take that stance, I've given very detailed nuanced posts over the years and you know it.

Look the majority of people that would give the glowing reviews that you're looking for aren't going to write on a Disney Fan Forum like this or really anywhere for that matter. No they are going to be the ones riding it and laughing and having a good time not feeling sad inside, just as DrAlice saw. So take that for what you will, nuanced or not.

They absolutely did. Sorry we have to disagree on this.

Oh so the story of splash required some insider knowledge of the story and character motivations that wasn't presented in the actual ride? That's interesting.

He tricked Bear Bear into a trap and then tricked both of them into a Bee Hive. That's all in the ride.

Plus, when the ride opened, you couldn't exist without seeing these stories presented. I had books by both Disney and non Disney publishers, audio cassettes, the sing a-long VHS tapes, and knock off cartoons.

Maybe it’s hard to tell because the LMG video is far superior to the DL video but I gotta say aesthetically looks like the interior of MK’s is better. Experientially because of the faster pace DL’s might be more enjoyable but judging from this video I think MKs looks nicer.
Definitely agree. The only parts at Disneyland that might be better are the Zydeco and lift hill scenes (and only marginally). A far cry from the two Splashes that felt almost completely different in every comparable scene. Though I preferred MK’s overall (it was my first, and it was how I learned about the stories), DL had a ton of unique attributes that I absolutely adored.

My god. It ia worse than I possibly could have imagined. So few animatronics. Still dead spaces. Bad CGI when you are tiny instead of hand drawn animation to match the movie or the fire fly seen. No suspene or sene of dread as you go up the lift hill. Everythi g is happy. What a boring and un-imaginative re-imagining.

I like to refer to as a de-imagining

So we have a store featuring a character who isn't supposed to be alive in the timeframe of the attraction next door, but ya'll can't have Luke and Vader in GE because of a land-wide time lock?

Make it make sense.

It's almost like two different teams were used. One just for the attraction and one just for the land around it and they didn't compare notes.

I'd actually love for @Californian Elitist to chime in on this now that the ride is up and running. I know she was looking forward to this new attraction, but is also a fan of traditional Disney- her thoughts would be interesting to hear.
Would it though? She never cared for Splash and found it 'problematic' and welcomed this change. Her opinion of this ride was positive before the concept art was even released.

Or maybe Ray is alive since he’s singing on the ride? What a mess. Somebody, anybody, please go clean this thing up.
