Even with Splash Mountain being refurbed, anyone who would still complain about an instrumental version of Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah playing in the esplanade ambience... probably isn't cut out for Disneyland to begin with.

Wouldn't the opposite also be true? I mean ... if you are complaining about the removal of a song from the esplanade, maybe Disneyland isn't really for you.

Exactly. As hard as Disney tries to erase things from their history, they will always be there. What’s the point of removing the song from the esplanade? It still exists and will continue to exist.

I was serious when I said Disney should cancel themselves.
Sadly, Disney is canceling themselves. Pirates goes politically correct, then Splash Mountain, then what’s next?

This also brings to memory the Disney Sing-Along Songs series released on VHS (later on DVD) that ran from 1986 through 2006. It incorporated the "bouncing ball" that helped us sing along. The very first volume was titled "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" which featured the song and clip from Song of the South. In fact, that initial release happened to promote the 40th Anniversary re-release of the movie in theaters. That release brought in $37,459,346 ($87,914,438 in today's dollars) in the box office. I believe it was only re-released domestically.

For comparison, PatF only grossed $104,400,899 ($125,699,042 in today's dollars). This, of course, doesn't take in account pre-1986 earning for SotS which in today's dollars is over $1B. Worldwide, PatF pulled in $324,576,765 in today's dollars.

Note: All numbers above are theatrical release only and don't account for video sales which I'm not sure will be readily available since SotS was never released in the US on video.

This brings back a lot of memories!

I have fond memories of the "Disney Sing-Along Songs: Disneyland Fun" from 1990.

Zip a Dee Doo Dah is as synonymous with the park as When You Wish Upon a Star. It's been a consistent presence for decades- in multiple area loops, and performed by the Disneyland Band a number of times over the decades, and Splash Mountain.
And played at previous parades at Disneyland, the lyrics was even briefly used for Magic Happens.

I wonder if they’ll censor Tom Hanks singing Zip-a-dee-doo-dah in the movie “Splash”...

And...hey, was that bit written into the movie as an Eisner synergy thing, considering the ride name’s origin???

Wouldn't be the first post-release edit of Splash.

I'm betting that all three tunes will be replaced with music from Marvel movies.

Also Disney has responded to this with one of their typical, bland pre-written responses.

The removal of the song from Downtown Disney’s background music is part of a continuous process to deliver an environment that features stories that are relevant and inclusive, Disneyland officials said.
