Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

I’m looking forward to the beignets smells. I hope it’s as artificial as possible, since the real beignets don’t have a strong scent lol.
This brought a question to mind: how are the beignets at Disneyland? Are they worthwhile or would they benefit from a new recipe by the time the ride opens?

Just bumping this, as I’d also like some clarification on that Instagram poster.
Did some searching... He posted 4 years ago "I was a former Pictorial Artist in the compants WDI SQS teams" on Reddit. On his Youtube channel in February says he separated from Disney with lots of pictures of him painting animatronics as a cast member. He doesn't say why but says he worked 9 years with the company. He did post a question and answer on his Instagram with this answer to the question "What will happen to the Splash Animatronics". So not sure how much credibility he has now.

Apparently the new Mark Twain narration mentions that TBA is a part of Critter Country. At least, for now. I would like the Critter Country name to remain even though the area is no longer "country" country, if that makes sense.

To me, TBA is going to add a much needed sense of thematic cohesion to the area (that has been missing since Pooh moved in). With Tiana, "Critter Country" transitions better than it ever did from New Orleans Square. -and between both her attraction and Pooh, the area delivers a full-on "Critter Fantasyland" vibe now. At least, I think it will.

I just listened to the new Mark Twain and train narrations on YouTube and there is no mention of Critter Country in either spiel. They both say we are “now entering the bayou” or something of that nature. 🙁

Where did you get that news and why did I run with it?

I really don't like how generic the new AAs look for the ride.

There is nothing remotely interesting about these animals, they seem like literal background characters from a mid-2000's Dreamworks Animation film.
This is concept art. The actual animatronics could very well look differently.

Even if they do turn out to look just like these, I don’t see the big deal.

About the beignets, based on your opinions I sure hope they come up with a superior recipe. As it will no doubt be a signature food connected to the new ride and restaurant, I hope they don't drop the ball as they did with Blue Milk.

Especially since there's an excellent version a short distance away for easy comparison.

There is no excuse for the blue milk.

ETA maybe there is an excuse, that it had to go through committees to make sure that everyone, like vegans & the lactose intolerant etc. could drink it.

I don't know if I've ever had a good corn dog. Corn dog reminds me of popcorn, its fine no matter where you get it, but never as good as the smell.

I had an excellent corn dog at the USH lower lot last month. Everyone in my party of 10 agreed. Way tastier than the Red Wagon DL corn dogs that seem to be hit and miss. Im not into the texture of the DL corn dogs these days. The USH corn dog had a nice crisp with a slight gritty/ corn meal-y batter without the excessive grease from the DL corn dogs.

I have a friend who can’t get past the corn part. She’s not a fan of the battered coating, no matter where the corn dog comes from.

I’ve had average-tasting corn dogs. How good a corn dog tastes to me depends on both the flavor of the hot dog and coating. To be honest, I prefer just eating a hot dog. I rarely eat corn dogs in general.

I am mildly grossed out by the very idea of corn dogs, and I am a fan of neither corn nor most hot dogs (and didn't like the corndog I tried heaven-knows-where as a child), so I have abstained. Perhaps someday, if I happen to be in front of the Plaza Inn-adjacent one and there's no line, I will give it a shot.

Or perhaps it will turn into the new Lobster Nachos, where people swore that they were so good even if you didn't like seafood, and...no, sorry, that was incorrect.

What are your go-tos between both parks, in terms of snacks and meals?

Compared to the America Sings animatronics they might be sharing the building with, they just seem really uninteresting and bland in comparison.

Marc Davis soulfulness being juxtaposed against shoddy new Imagineering designs, hard pass for me!

Eh, the green milk 🤢 easily overshadowed the blue milk. I am surprised that the blue milk has not been reformulated by now.
