But it’s more like POTC/ HM are 1a and Splash is 1b.

Probably a good way to think of it.

Now if we’re talking more casual fans 40 and under it’s definitely viewed as an equal to POTC/ HM and I may go as far to say more of them prefer Splash as this group doesn’t value the Walt factor as much so the thrills to go along with “classic” Disney attraction touches probably puts Splash over the top.

This is certainly true. I kind of wonder how casual visitors would rank attractions; I imagine it's possible the mountains, Rise, and Indy could outrank Pirates and Mansion at Disneyland. That said, even among the general public, I still think Splash could very well rank #1 at Magic Kingdom (maybe Space would be its top competitor); it's that much of a "headliner" out there. Or maybe my memories are just stuck in the 90s/early-00s, when the ride was newer...

Perhaps it's because Disneyland has so many attractions, perhaps it's a result of DL's Splash being very much (IMO) a 1.0 effort that was improved on in both Florida and Tokyo, but Splash has always felt second-tier in California to me. Whereas at the other parks it's treated as more of a showcase attraction, though the more intense weather conditions in the other parks, the included land around it in Tokyo, and the smaller number of attractions elsewhere also contribute to it being more beloved in addition to the subsequent Splash rides being a more polished experience vs. the original.

Perfect synopsis of why Splash feels more like a flagship attraction at MK. 👍

I actually prefer Knott's flume to DL's Splash, and maybe even Ripsaw Falls as well. DL's Splash has just never done much for me, and all of those reasons above (and the excessive wetness) contribute to my feeling that way.

Ripsaw Falls is so darn fun. Against all logic, I sometimes feel like it might crack my top 5 favorite rides of all time, haha.

There was an elimination challenge done on Reddit about 6 months ago strictly for the DLR. I dunno if that would be considered casual fans, but given the results, I'd say probably more so than not. I think the results would be different if it was done on a board like this.

They were eliminating the worst (bottom of list) until a winner was picked (top of list).

A couple of things though.....the first is that people could see the ongoing results before voting which introduces information bias. People were picking to fight for things with the given results rather than truly picking their least favorite. Plus people were already talking about the results in the comments before voting closed. This to me taints the results.

Also, they started single elimination for the first couple of days and realized it would take too long, so they did double elimination until Roger Rabbit and went back to single.

Casey Jr ranked lower than Webslingers? Who are these heathens?

It does warm my heart though to see Webslingers just barely above all the spinners.

This list actually seems pretty accurate to where I believe the GP stands all things considered in the aggregate.

One thing to keep in mind when looking at the top 10 the highest rated attractions are those that have an element of historical relevance, mild-moderate thrills/chills, and a broader more universal appeal. 6-10 are arguably either newer attractions and/or more thrilling and thus a slightly more acquired taste. I know multiple people including children and adults that will refuse to ride Splash, GoTG and Incredicoaster (usually due to fear of big drops) but are comfortable with Indy, BTMRR, and Pirates for instance.

Pirates and HM will always be a gold standard among CA DL aficionados.

Harsh for Finding Nemo. I mean, I hardly love it, but it's at LEAST better than Jumping Jellyfish.

Apparently this person isn’t someone to praise or like the current Disney, but they seem to know stuff?

What you plan for and what you get are two different things with WDI.

Remember the plans were for Galaxy's Edge to have a stunt show, bantha ride, sit down restaurant with show, interactive characters, etc. Avengers Campus was supposed to have an E Ticket ride as well.

It seems as of the last 5 years or so Disney gets grand ideas then settles for the fact that guests will accept the bare minimum and changes their plans.

Again, I would like to stress that maybe he of all people should just... sit this one out?
