Interesting you said that... I recalled a Jim Hill article that stated that a new line of merch entitled Disney Bunnies (I believe) would begin in 2008 or 2009. Wonder if they could correlate this?

I remember that as well. It definitely could have something to do with that. Kind of like what they did with the Fairies.

I work at DAK character costuming, and from my manager, we WILL be getting Thumper, but we won't be getting the girl bunny (even though they posted a picture of them both for us to see). Thumper will be starting sometime in October and will be going out in regular rotation by January 2010, but that's all subject to change. They also told us we wouldn't be getting our new Eagle stilt walker for MJJP until late July and we got it in May...

Cool. BTW, where will Thumper be? Discovery Island? Camp Minnie-Mickey? Rafiki's Planet Watch?

There is already Disney Bunny merch out. My 10 month old, 5 months at the time recieved nestings block and a board book with the Bunnies on them. The blocks have Thumper, Dad rabbit, Mom Rabbit and his sisters. The board book has just Thumper and no Bambi. The bunnies are very cute and there are 12 nesting blocks that she love to knock over. That is the only merch I have seen with Bunnies and if I remember correctly they were purhcased at Biggs.

It's really miserable how Disney group loosely-associated characters together like they're friends (Princesses, Villians) or take an existing character and build a franchise around that (Fairies, Bunnies). Not only do the groups make no sense in relation to time or setting, but it's abundantly clear that this is for the sole reason of selling merchandise and whoring the characters out rather than creating compelling or original material.

What's worse is that this strategy has actually worked very well for Disney, so it won't stop any time soon. :brick:

Should be very popular when Easter comes around. :D

Do you think more than 2 out of 10 people will even know who they are?

Their appearances should spark some interesting comments from passing by park guests.
Depends on the last time Bambi was released from the Disney Vault!

Speaking of interesting comments, I was wearing a Figment shirt in MK in March. You wouldn't believe how many people I heard say 'Oh look! They sell Pete's Dragon shirts!" :hammer:

What's even funnier is that Pete's Dragon is a relatively obscure character for modern day fans. You'd think that same demographic would recognize Figment.
