Wow, that's quite the movie. I am beyond excited for this movie to come out! It looks phenomenol and I absolutely loved the first two films. I honestly wasn't ready for Dead Men's Chest to end even after sitting there for 2 1/2 hours, so I'm sure another 20 minutes for AWE will be fine. Obviously they were interested in creating a real epic with that long of a running time. The one danger of a movie that long is that it has the potential to decrease total box office gross. Not only can the film only be shown a few times a day, unless it is spectacular beyond all measure (which I believe it may be) repeat viewings tend to be less with movies over 2 hrs 15 minutes. I wouldn't be surprised if Spiderman 3 or Shrek 3 have bigger opening weekends this year, although Pirates has the added benefit of having the Memorial Day weekend for its opening.

Also, I see the film has been officially given a PG-13 rating for "intense sequences of action/adventure violence and some frightening images". I hadn't seen that before.

Thanks a lot for the info!

Ah...three hours is nothing. How many millions of people went to see Titanic...(let alone more than once... ). It was 194 minutes or maybe the 222 minute original Gone With the Wind....

Some movies you notice are long...some you don't. I really noticed Gone With the Wind...of course trying to watch Song of the South made me realize just how long 94 minutes was. How I ever survived watching Gone With the Wind is beyond me.

Well at least I'll get my money's worth
about $9 for a ticket --- 3hours seems worth it

I'll be at the Downtown Disney AMC midnight showing. (went there for the midnight showing of Pirates II last year)

Do you think that's a bad thing??? I think this looks like the best movie out of the three of them. I can never get enough pirates!

*swoons over Johnny, Keira, Orlando, & Geoffrey*
I have a weakness for pirates, what can I say.

I have no problem with a 3 hour plus film. Especially since King Kong and Grindhouse are two of my all time favorite movies and they all went above the 3 hour plateau. I would much rather have a film like this be too long than be too short.

Ooh. One of my favorites, King Kong, was over three hours and it was great. So this sounds promising. I have yet to watch the second one, albeit I've had it on dvd since its release. I'm going to commit to watching it this week.

That is, after Spidey 1, 2, & 3. :lookaroun

Its definately looking like its taking the shape of a HUGE epic movie. I can't wait!

The thing is though, I won't be surprised if it doesn't make as much money DMC simply because of the stiff competition and not just because of the length. But I'm sure it will still make TONS of money though.

Wow, I can't believe it's that long.

I didn't think they would make it that long, especially since the first two were realitively the same length and I heard that Disney had to cut down a lot of the film because it was over three hours long. I guess they changed their minds and put a lot of it back in. They must thought that the movie wouldn't really flow, or make sense with all those scenes cut out.

It's funny how this movie is so long, while Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, whose book version is the longest of the series, will only be 2 hrs. and 20 min., the shortest Harry Potter film yet.

This will be the first time I've ever sat through that long of a movie. But I'm sure I'll love it. :)

You know, those furry foot hobbit movies were pretty decent and they clocked in at the 3 hour range. Even longer if you got the extended DVD.

Alright, thanks for that information -- I am excited to twenties more minutes this year. I hate when good movies have to end :) Is it May 25th yet??

Just found out that they are selling tickets for 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 24th for Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End. They are selling midnight tickets as well.

I just bought myself a bunch of 8 pm tickets!! :sohappy:

Better hurry before they sell out!
