Thoughts on visiting in July

I'm looking to visit WDW late July (possibly the 18th to the 28th) and I've heard some discouraging things about the crowds and the heat. Has anyone found this unbearable? Any thoughts are much appreciated!

I did a quick search on the weather in Ontario, and found that July is the hottest month. With Ontario's average highs in the 90's, and average lows in the 60's, I don't think that the weather at WDW will be unbearable for you in July. The biggest difference for you will be the humidity and the fact that evening temperatures will remain in the low 80's and high 70's. If muggy days and hotter muggy nights are not a real problem for you, I think that you will be fine. The crowds can be an issue, particularly around Independence Day, but I don't think of them as restrictive if you avoid the days surrounding the 4th.

It's hot. It's crowded. It's muggy. That being said, it's Disney. I've been going to WDW in July my entire life. It wouldn't be Disney without the heat. In fact, planning on being there the dates you're looking at this summer.

Go for it. The heat's exaggerated. Go at your pace. Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate. Hit the pools in the afternoon. Expect rain from 3:30 to 5:30 every day. Have fun.

Cheers,
Indy

We have gone each time in July because of work and school schedules. The parks are croweded and yes it is hot but we have always enjoyed ourselves. We pace ourselves and also the heat does not seem to bother us as much as your would think. You will need plenty of sunscreen and bottles of water. Going in and out of buildings really does help. Also take breaks and enjoy the resort pools. We also take a full day off of the parks and go shopping early in the morning and then just relax around the pool the rest of the day to reenergize. Remember it is a vacation and enjoy! We will also be in the world the last week in July.

if July is the only time of year you and your family can go then it is what it is... hot and crowded.

if you can get off the peak times, why not?

I am looking forward to our trip to Disneyworld in July (23rd July - 13th Aug). We have been the last few years in July. We are not use to hot summers coming from Ireland but we love the Florida heat in July. We drink lots of water, take pool breaks in the afternoon to cool down. You get use to the heat and humidity after a few days, then we hate having to return to our Irish summer! We always stay onsite so if it get too hot or crowded we head back to the resort and return to the parks later in the day. You will have a great time.

I always go in July and I dont think I would go any other month. I usually do the early morning hours it is not as hot in the morning so that by the afternoon when it is the hottest and go back to the hotel to relax and cool off. Then i head back to the parks in the evening. I also like to go in the stores to cool off while i am in the park.

We have often visited in July, sometimes Jume and sometimes August. It is hot, very hot! I can remember feeling the heat reflected off the black pavement near Philharmagic and thinking "It is really too hot". BUt then if you get up early, swim in the afternoons and plan an early dinner when it is still really hot (4:30-6 pm), you can outwit the heat a bit.

Our biggest summertime problem is the rain. We have gone when it has rained all day every day for a week. I would rather deal with heat than rain.

Crowds are no worse than other times, it is not even considered High/peak season so that isnt a big problem in my eyes. I remember a website that showed the ave temps and amount of rain for each day/month from the past year and that might be helpful.

If I could choose a time to go, I would avoid July and Aug but because of rain not heat or crowds - just our experience...You could have perfect weather too!!

Everyone has their own opinions, but I personally think it's that bad. It's so hot, by mid afternoon people are cranky and some are pretty smelly. Lines are long and it's even hot after it gets dark. If it wasn't so muggy it wouldn't be so bad, but humidity is what gets you. Like others say, take a break during the afternoon hours and go back to the hotel. Disney anytime of the year is fun, but if you can avoid June through early August, I would. :)

I've experienced 80% humidity in May, that seems to be the norm in July :hammer::hammer::hammer:

It will be hot and crowded, and there will be some large travel groups from various places. I have gone in july three times. As long as you know what too expect, you will have a great time, i always have when i have gone in july. I'm going this year for the first time for july 4 fireworks at epcot. I am very excited about the trip, crowds, and heat. :ROFLOL:

i do think it is unbearably hot... i've been in both july and august and both times remember having sweat just drip down my body while i was standing in line.

since then we have sworn off the summer.... we tried late september / early october, the week of thanksgiving, and christmas / new years.

november / right after thanksgiving is definitely our favorite time.... cooler temps and way less people.

Complaining about the crowds and the heat is half the fun. Be sure to budget at least $4,418 for bottled water. At least you're not going on the 4th... little blessings.

DO NOT go to the Magic Kingdom on Monday, Thursday, or Saturday.

Sure go ahead and enjoy yourself. Other then the heat, the sun feeling like its 14" from your head, a gazillion tour groups.....long lines...humid temps that makes you sweat like your in a sauna....raining everyday....people who are cranky and on their last nerve...sure go ahead...have a great time...you will enjoy the buses smelling like a petting zoo. Eyeballing the foutians in Epcot and thinking....they cant taste that bad right?

I go in July all the time (I will be there this July too)

Is it bad? That's a personal matter.

Is it hotter, yes. Is it too hot, I don't hink so, others can't stand it.

Is it more crowded, yes. Is it unbearable, not to me, others can't hack it.

It is a different season. Just as if you went to the beach in July and in October, you would expect different situations, each having pros and cons, the same applies to WDW.

Park hours are MUCH longer in the summer. Take advantage of it. Take a mid-day break.

Be flexable in your planning - if it begins to pour, find and indoor attraction, wait in the queue, and when you get out, half the people will have left the park.

No need to run around the parks - walk. At a slower pace you may even see some things you missed before.

Of course is you really can't take heat (80 -90 F) and being in slightly crowded situations bugs you, then July is not for you.

It's definitely hot, but we didn't find it hot to the point of not wanting to go out! Did spend more time in the pool on that trip and took some "afternoon breaks" to get out of the heat, but any way you slice it, you're still at Disney!

Our two trips immediately preceding our July trip were at the holidays so, for us, we found the crowds to be much lighter, but it's still busy. Beware of tour groups!!
