Thoughts on Expedition Everest

I, to tell you the truth, I didn't like the ride at all.
When it was being built at disney it looked SWEET, but when it was finished, the HUGE line that was like almost 2 hours long, well, the ride wasn't that great.

Now I want to hear what you think

Sorry you didn't like the ride.

I loved it but I do enjoy the rides with a story more then just a rollcoaster that goes fast. I like it even more now watching the discovery channels shows seeing all that went into the ride and the history of the yeti.

What do you think could have been done different to make you enjoy the ride more? Personally I would have liked a little more yeti time. I was kind of hoping that the yeti would be at one of the 2 stops where the train changes direction.

Overall I loved the attraction. Granted it is not a super coaster but then again I never expected it to be. More than anything I like the completely immerse theming and the attention to detail, the coaster is only one element in the attraction. For a large number of people it is the most important part but I enjoy the journey more than the destination.

This topic should have been posted in "General Discussion" and not "News and Rumors"

Nor should you feel the need to comment on it.

Back on topic, I can't wait to finally ride it and I look forward to all the input everyone gives especially the negative or so-so reviews, thanks for putting in your .02 smileorfall.

I loved it...instant classic for me.

It's not the most thrilling "coaster" but it does throw a few surprises at you which I love. I agree that there should've been more "Yeti-time" but, then again, the Yeti is suppose to be an elusive creature and if you saw it more than once, it would make the Yeti seem like a pretty standard sight. (Which is why I think they made him blend in with his surroundings so well).

I loved it. The first time I rode it (during soft openings), the passengers in the train I was on broke into spontaneous applause when the ride came to an end.

It is a great addition to the Disney Animal Kingdom and is an instant classic.

I think the part that I don't like about this ride is the lack of creativity. Everything just like formula and is old-fashioned. However, there is no REALLY special point of this ride. Every element is good and huge but it seems like the idea of one monster hidden in a mountain has been used several times. Yes yeti is huge, fast and powerful, but kind of lacking of something one of the kind. The mountain and the queue are by all means the most beautiful of all but that is the only thing I really enjoyed. Coaster part is good but there are already bounch of good coasters in Disney. I somehow not a big fan of Joe Rhode. I think animal kingdom is very beautiful but Dinosaur and EE are both sort of let down. They are good, but could've been better. Maybe I am expecting something like the launch of M:S or 5th dimension/mirror of ToT, so could be my problem.

Sorry you didn't like it. :(
I haven't rode it yet, but want to try it out when I go in July. When all you have is Fiesta Texas near you, even the "worst" (if there is such a thing at Disney!) ride is amazing. lol

What rides in general have done this? I can't think of one ride at Disney that would qualify as using that concept. Truthfully, I can't think of a ride at any park that has used that concept.

I was hoping for a more in-your-face storyline during the ride. Instead it was more of a "figure it out on your own" situation. For better or worse I was thinking of how Mummy had ambient audio and characters talking to you during the ride. I think everest needs something like that.

I liked it the first few times...but now it's one of those things that wouldn't bother me if I didn't ride.

What I am tired of is seeing post after post about Everest...everytime I look there is a new post about Everest.
Well, unfortunately, some of us do not live in Orlando and have not yet had the chance to make the 1500 mile trip down to WDW to ride, so we enjoy these little reviews while we wait for our chance to ride. The ride has only been officially open for a week and a half...

The only two that I can think of is Mt. Prometheus at DisneySeas and the Matterhorn at Disneyland.

I totally agree, I live in the UK and will not get to ride it for at least 2 years so I love reading the reviews of...well just about everything. And anyway there are not too many thread repeats around.

Does the matterhorn actually have an animatronic monster inside? I thought it was just a roller coaster around a mountain.

For anyone that doesn't care for all of the Everest threads, why are you clicking on them and commenting? Would it kill you to skip over it? It's a DISCUSSION board for petes sake. *end of rant*

Personally, I loved the ride. To each his own. As for the Matterhorn, I don't think it's an AA - just a figure that roars when you go by. I'm afraid it gave me a bit of a fright the first time I went by it since I had no idea that it was there .. haha

I haven't ridden EE yet, however I can take a guess as to why it is not as intense as, say, another high-profile ride at WDW. :lookaroun

i don't believe its actually an animatronic, just a still figure; maybe he moves a little, but "Harold" isn't very sophisticated
