Thoughts from my recent visit to the World

Heading for the great escape.
I always have to shake my head at reviews like the OP's. A legit concern is the room being dirty. That and the crowds are things they can't control, but most everything else they can control. Poor planning ahead of the trip will always cause reviews like the one in this thread.

I always have a smile at posts like this. Poor planning? the fact that Epcot is in a state of disrepair and the parks are dirty? Best pack some janitorial kit so Im prepared, while Im at it best take some tools to help with construction.

Fannyboys what can you do?

Agreed. I've complained about a dirty room before too. A room that you've paid hundreds of dollars for is a legitimate complaint. Complaining about rides being refurbished, new areas supposedly not being complete enough(?), having to walk over a skybridge, and big crowds (at a place notorious for crowds) just seems silly (and ranty).

Exactly. Things can go wrong at any time. I know that the Magic Kingdom is going to be people heavy, that DHS is a park of walls, that Epcot needs love, the Springs is better than it was, but still has a ways to go and that crowds are going to go up because the state testing is winding down and/or over and it's vacation time before the really hot weather sets in.

The deal for the Brits has me jealous for sure. So yes, I'd expect to see lots of them there.

It's simple homework. Sure, if you aren't on the boards, you may not know all this. If you went through a TA, you'd hope they'd know this info, but it's not always the case.

For the OP, I'd look into maybe better lodging for their next trip that will suit their needs and use this trip as a learning experience.

Sounds like the OP was given bad info prior to their trip and when they got there and it was just walls they felt duped because all these new areas aren't even close to started or finished.

Hmmmm £150 - 200 for the tunnel and fuel in an average car or £600 a head for air fair? 14 days for 7 has been offered for a decade, its the vain hope you dont buy an Orlando pass and spend more time at the other parks. Free dinning, mmmmm cant wait to hit those $20 nuggets and mac n cheese in understaffed over full over priced eateries. A shadow of what was offered 6 or 7 years ago.

The only thing wrong with Paris is the Parisians. And the weather. And theres no Universal. Simple fact is DLP is not a 14 day holiday destination Orlando is

A deal is a deal. For the Americans it's 30% off rack rates (I believe). Free dining, gift card and the pass deal is waaaaay more than what's offered for us. Gripe about it all you want but it's better than other offers currently.

I read this a lot but yes we get a great deal on park tickets, dining and sometimes hotel rates but you do have to remember that on top of those discounts, we have to pay for expensive trans atlantic flights. A return flight for a family of four is just under £1k ($1.5k) for economy class. I don't know how much flights in the US cost but I'm sure it is nowhere near that price.

Is that price for each person in the party or as a whole group? Because depending on where one is flying from in the US, I just looked at a local airport to MCO and it was close to 600$/USD one way in June to fly a few hours on Delta and that's for one person/economy seats and theres a layover in ATL

You sound awfully bitter. Perhaps its the English language thing, but I took the majority of the OPs comments as more of an update, but then Im not a fannyboy.
I think your confusing me taking the out of you as a gripe.

He didn't come across as bitter.
Also, he's not alone in people here(many others in fact) that took this post as the OP complaining more than doing a simple update,a true update would not have personal opinion thrown in.

I think you guys just need to agree to disagree and let it be.

As I said fannyboys will be fannyboys. There seems to be no issue with the "gripes" where the OP is positive about Disney. Funny old game.

If in the highly unlikely event I ever do a trip report it mustnt include personal opinion as this may confuse.

You couldn't make this stuff up.

An update and a trip report are two different things, the latter includes your opinion with no problem.

What's amazing is how one cannot say anything without being called a fan boy on here.

From seeing the posts in the past of the poster you seem to have a strange issue with, they complain about the parks on a regular basis and are far from a fanboy.

Research, my friend.;)

The MK was designed to be operated at 10 million guests. It currently draws nearly double.

'Wall to wall crowds' is not a minor inconvenience, or misread crowd calendar. It is a depressing, all-encompassing disaster. With disastrous effects on anything ranging from theme to relaxation level (family in-fights aplenty!) to ride capacity to even guest and CM courtesy. The problem isn't pushy strollers, the problem is packed walkways. The problem isn't FastPass+, but undercapacity. Overcrowding is a sorry and mean-spirited way to operate WDW. Roy would hang current management by their bollox for operating the park he built for his baby brother in this manner.

Yes the five Ps are to live by. especially when half the park is closed and the rest outsourced for upsell.

Thanks for the steer on posting etiquette, Ill be sure to embrace the rules.

Whats amazing is that certain posters have an intolerance of any comment that does not portray their corporate body of choice in a reverential way. I blame dust inhalation.
Besides its all fun and games till someone loses an eye.

Yeah, this is the biggest problem. We haven't been in three years because the overcrowding just makes it less enjoyable. I still find value in the WDW as a whole. Less than there used to be, but comparatively speaking, it's not a bad value. I love Orlando and would gladly go every year. But I just can't take the crowds and the inevitable long wait times.

So we have been finding other places to spend our money. Sad, cause we love WDW and Orlando, but right now it's just not an enjoyable vacation.

If that was the real issue then why did you spend most of your first point complaining about the size and amenities in the room?

Sounds super sad.

You're complaining about walking over a skybridge??? It's not as if you're hanging out over open air. You know you can park on the West Side and avoid that right?

How are they taking forever when their opening dates aren't here yet? Are you in the business of building theme parks? Is this how you got your knowledge about how long things take?

If you hate Epcot so much, why pay $100 for a ticket? It isn't as if you didn't know which rides would be down.
Wow antagonistic much. My room was dirty and old. It also seemed smaller but obviously that's not the case so it must have felt that way for being dirty and old. Yes the skybridge has open walls and if you have a problem with heights it's a serious issue. The parking garages were full. Just because it doesn't bother you doesn't mean a ton of other people won't be bothered. I love Disney but . Not everything right now is positive if you can't handle that don't read my posts. No kidding the opening dates are not here yet. That's the POINT. We've known about Pandora for what 5 years and it's still a year or more away. And who said I HATE epcot I love epcot which is why I'm saying it needs some love to get it back to where it should be.

I plan all our trips for a year ahead there was no poor planning involved. Poor planning does not create a dirty room etc....

I have had 0 issues with crowds during the slow months still. Planning vacations during busy months such as March, early April and the summer and expecting it not to be wall to wall people is a problem with your planning, not Disney.
We have Always gone in April other than easter week it is always slow then. We never had this problem. March is busy season not April Dec easter week.

We know it's not all positive. There are ways around the skybridge, you just have to find them. I wouldn't trust any dates from Disney right now. It seemed that Star Wars was the big push over Toy Story.

As for the room, try somewhere else next time.

Overall, you have to travel to WDW knowing it's bad right now and make the best of it.

I agree I love it also but the crowds definitely make it less enjoyable. I hope as new things open maybe it will spread crowds out more although it may just bring more people.....We will see.
