Thoughts from my recent visit to the World

I love it here on wdwmagic, but sometimes I have to step back from these forums because people just over analyze everything.

I've mentioned this before, but it bears repeating. Back in the good ol' days of USENET and the REC/DISNEY/PARKS forum, there was the same type of negativity. I was living in Idaho, but preparing to visit SoCal with my family. The forum talked a lot about how dirty DL was, how rude the CMs were, how broken down the rides were, etc. I was considering not going (I'd been going a few times a year since 1963), but I finally decided to go anyway and see for myself. And guess what I found - a beautiful park, friendly CMs, no overflowing trash piles anywhere - in short, it was the same great place as it's always been. Sure, if I looked for it I could find spots where paint was faded. I could find the problems they were talking about if I tried hard. But overall those tiny problems just didn't matter to me, and I had a terrific time in my favorite place.

Thank you @danyoung56 and @ScarletBegonias. Sometimes it is a downer to read some of the negativity on here. I have a trip in July and I was about to make myself stay off of this website so it wouldn't damper any of my happy thoughts!

same thing with my April trip! I was kind of worried and went and had an excellent time. Probably best vacation ever. The negativity is just too much sometimes.

I remember Usenet.. I used to post to those forums. We probably had a conversation with each other way back then.

rec.arts.disney.parks is STILL an active group. You can access from Google Groups or if you are still running a news reader.

Why would you tolerate such a thing? If you mentioned it to the staff would you have been reassigned with no questions asked.

Because it was midnight. We had checked in at 9am but our room wasn't ready then obviously. They texted us our room # in the afternoon but we didn't get back from MK until midnight and were totally exhausted and had just trudged our luggage in from the parking lot. I did complain the next day as I stated earlier in the post.

I guess it's about perspective and expectations.

We just got back from a stay at CBR, and we loved it. Quiet, clean, HUGE room (King bed, so probably just seems like more space). Busses were quick and everything was wonderful. I honestly have nothing I can say bad about CBR except that we were a LITTLE far from the main island. We could have asked for a closer room, but we didn't care THAT much.

I love FP+. No issues with it.

Seems there are a ton of posts where people are complaining all the time about how Disney isn't how it "used to be" and that might be. Before 2015, I haven't been since 2005 and I was just teenager so I wasn't really taking notes about the little things. But I still love Disney. We go and have a fantastic time. Sorry you were so disappointed, OP. Maybe you'll have better luck in a few years.

I'm glad you had a good trip. We did too but just not as good as usual but we go a lot more often. As far as Caribbean beach though i'll never stay there again. That was the worst part of our trip. I'm glad to hear your room was in better order though that gives me hope.

Welcome to the New WDW. As long as crowds are insane, they will keep cutting back and raising prices. Until the crowds go down, they have no incentive to change this business plan.

So your bed was covered in poop stains and you slept in it anyway instead of just asking to be moved to another room?? I can't think of a time of the day or night I'd sleep on poop.
