Things people complain about at WDW, but don't bother you at all

I like that I am able to go to WDW pretty much whenever I want. When I am there, I have a choice to ride or not ride certain attractions. Personally, I don't like Stitch. But, I choose not to torture myself by going on the attraction.

I do care that the Yeti has been broken for a long time and it is unfortunate for first time riders not to experience it, but the attraction is still awesome. The 2 seconds that you see the Yeti are not going to ruin my trip to WDW or upset me in my daily life.

The Speedway is and has been one of my favorite attractions. I thought it was amazing to be able to drive a car. Been driving a real car for 18 years and still love the speedway. Same goes for Test Track...driven a car faster than 60 MPH, but Test Track still kickes a**.

Could go on for a while, but then I would have to complain that WDW makes my hands hurt from typing about what I like.

I never understood the huge controversy over Mr. Toad. I thought it was a fun ride, but I just don't get why people are so incredibly upset over it. I do wish they did a better job with Pooh though...

I love the boards, read them daily, and enjoy taking part in the discussions.

However, I learned a long time ago the perception of the parks when discussed here is often quite different from the reality of experiencing them in real life.

I think it is fine to discuss the shortcomings and armchair Imagineer the parks to death but I find all the concerns about just how "broken" and "lacking" or even "utterly ruined" Walt Disney World has become melts away when I'm actually there.

Too often too much emphasis is placed on lists and figures and a million other details other than how to actually enjoy yourself. If you're not careful, and don't balance your intake of internet griping with some actual vacationing it is easy to get carried away in the sea of negativity.

The bubble gum on the walls of the Splash Mountain queue. A small hammer, a chisel, and a good supply of saliva is all that is needed to turn a nuisance into an afternoon of free chewing pleasure.

I like the Disney Dining Plan. I've used it twice so far, and I'll use it again on my next trip. The only drawback has been when I've gone overboard and booked too many reservations at too many restaurants. I hate being on time, especially on vacation. But otherwise I like the plan a lot.

I love MGM Studios and the Animal Kingdom. In my six years of visiting, I've yet to have a bad meal at San Angel Inn. We've never had a bad experience with WDW Transportation (though there's always room for improvement).

I hated the Seas with Nemo and Friends initially, but I now understand that without him, the Seas would be closed. The dark ride is pretty imaginative. Furthermore, I find Ellen's Energy Adventure very entertaining. The Gran Fiesta Tour remains one of my favorite attractions on property. It was the sensitive treatment of an aging attraction using obscure characters, and they did a fantastic job.

Country Bear Jamboree - I love it. My grandparents loved it in 1973, my dad (around my age now) loved it in 1973. I love it, my wife loved it her first visit in 2009. Lord help us if there is an attraction that doesn't cater to the attention deficit crowd of society or a teenager with their nose buried in their cell phone. The most overrated expression is "post modern". The most underrated word is "timeless. Country Bears is the latter. God love it!

Animal Kingdom - Yeah I laugh a little too about it being a half day park. If you are a first timer that is far from a half day park. Yes, it is in need of some more dark rides and I've always felt the Western River Expedition would fit in there but you don't leave there unfulfilled. There does need to be some more attractions worth re-doing for repeat visitors, but the park is 13 years old. Have you looked at a map of Magic Kingdom in 1971? The place looked empty but I'll bet no one left angry either. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Aladdin's Magic Carpet - Okay fine, I get it, a great popular movie like Aladdin should get more exposure in the parks (although it's highlighted in Philharmagic) but at least is has something. I never understood how people think an empty space there is better than an actual ride even if it is a Dumbo clone.

Carousel of Progress/Small World - Like Country Bears, they fall into one of two crowds: "you love it or loathe it." I can never understand the latter group. These rides are straight out of the brain of one of the best innovators to ever live. Cherish them.

Everest - No I have never been on there when the Yeti was in full mode. I agree that Disney should always aim to do their 100% best with a ride but if you are like me and went on it in it's current state, it is still a GREAT coaster!

Couldn't have said it better! While I can b*tch and moan about how Animal Kingdom lacks rides or how the Yeti needs fixed or blah blah blah, it's still not going to stop me from going there and having an amazing trip. I complain a lot, we all do, but the truth is...it doesn't stop us from returning!

I'm glad to see threads such as this one because after following a couple of Disney podcasts and listening to others once or twice I am beginning to see the same opinions and the same likes and dislikes regurgitated.

If podcaster X says I think something is awesome, then immediately the Dole Whip Stepford Wives are out in force repeating X is awesome!

If blogger Y says I think that is the worst attraction ever, then before you know it the Kill Stitch Brigade are on the march.

Come on people, don't be followers!

Having said that, here I things that don't bother me.

SGE doesn't bother me. I will see it again.

Tomorrowland Speedway doesn't bother me. I love the diesel fuel smell and the leisurely drive around the track.

Swan and Dolphin Resorts don't bother me. They have the best beds and location.

COP doesn't bother me. I enjoy it even with the last scene!!

Space Mountain audio doesn't bother me. In fact I think it's a major improvement.

Getting drenched on Kali Rivers doesn't bother me. It's a water ride and your clothes will dry within 30 min in the scorching Florida heat. Stop complaining.

Gran Fiesta Tour in Epcot doesn't bother me. It's one of my favorite attractions in Epcot. I always feel like I want to make that trip to Mexico after I ride it.

That's it for now. I'm sure I can think of more.

ooo...I forgot a big one. THE HAT. I like the hat. Yes, the Chinese theater is beautiful and yes it would be nice to see it when you first enter but a replica theater does not scream Disney like a giant sorcerers hat does. It's not my favorite logo but I don't hate it. I don't see why everyone is up in arms about it. It's not a big deal.

Also a fan of the hat! I just think there should be something besides a store inside. Don't know what would go there though.

Monster's Inc. - Horrible acronym notwithstanding, my family love this. My son was picked the first time we went on it and we have loved it ever since.

Pooh - I know it replaced Mr. Toad but I think it stands up as a nice classic dark ride and the MK version is much better than the nausea-inducing DL version. I still contend that if it had been in place from the beginning rather than replacing a beloved ride it wouldn't take nearly the flak that it does.

Fastpass - If you have a strategy for utilizing them you can get in several (at least) extra rides in a day.

Storybook Circusland - I know a lot of people hate circuses but could we at least see what the thing is like before completely dismissing it? The Dumbo makeover was happening anyway at least this gives it an area to fit into rather than sticking out like a sore thumb.

Value resorts - I am not sure what people are expecting from a resort that has 'Value' in the name. Every time we have stayed in one, the rooms have been clean, the game rooms have been fun, there are nice pools to swim in and the kids have loved the theming.

The Speedway-So what if you can ride go carts anywhere? That 5 year old can't and he/she is having the time of their life and driving for the first time in their life. Too loud? It is a race car, it is supposed to be loud!

Dumbo, Flying Carpets, etc-Sure they are simple carnival rides but you know what so are the tea cups and the carousel and most people would have a kaniption fit if those were gone. Suck it up because people love them especially kids...you know those little people that are Disney's bread and butter. The kids laughing on Dumbo are tomorrows coaster enthusiasts.

The Seas with Nemo-Face it guys and gals, the little clown fish saved that pavilion.

M:S-This is a great thrill ride. Sure the post show could have been better but this is the best space flight simulator around.

The speedway. Yes its loud...i did however always wonder why they havnt gone electrical with those. But it is a speedway. Still love that ride though always went on it as a kid. U get to drive !!!!!

Dumbo i dont think i have gone on that ride for the last 20 years. Kids enjoy it. Its dumbo......HELLO....

Nemo... yes it did save that pavilion but i was always a fan of it before it was nemo. I enjoy the sea and that kind of stuff.... But the nemo ride is cute and cool... A quote from the living seas" It rains and rains and rains until one day!!!!" Please people you must remember what part of the video that was from..... Stays in my head just like when the doors close on the tram.... in spanish that is....

Mission space.... Coolest ride ever.... Who doesnt like pulling only 2.5 G's Not a lot but still enough to give to a rush... Feels great....

I'm mellowing as I get older because 90% of the stuff that used to bug me does not. I've just adopted a new attitude. Being a mom has given me a new outlook at WDW. I see past the faults because of the way having a small child rearranges perspective. I don't have rose-colored glasses. I know there are faults and problems. A lot of complaints seem picky and unwarranted.

I really don't get the hate for Monster Inc and Stitch.

Stitch isn't my favorite attraction, but it was fun to watch. Monsters Inc is a great show that gets the whole family unlike Turtle Talk. I love it.

It's not a bad attraction at all. The complaints are mostly just that it doesn't belong where it is.
