Things not working

After reading what is going on with MuppetVision and the current shape of Philharmagic, I am starting to have a slight fear that Disney will just let the older shows fall by the waste side until they're in complete shambles so they can replace them with IPs...

Gawd, I hope not. :bawling:
Both these rides are based on an IP (or IPs) too. The IP complaint doesn't really fit here.

To be fair, when people go 'but mah IPs!' they are usually talking about IPs that are not considered to be 'Disney' in their own personal view. Meaning things they have acquired or didn't create as 'Disney' but as Pixar, Lucas, Marvel (and Fox once that starts happening). The Muppets, even though they were Henson, have always been viewed as 'Disney' for some reason.

Edit: Bolded for importance.

Things not working? Tower of Terror has had awful audio for years and years and it continuously gets worse. Currently you can barely hear anything, as if the whole ride is on "quiet mode."

We decided to scrap our planned visit to DHS on our trip in November. My wife has never been to WDW, but I was fond of DHS as a half-day park. It was already on shaky ground because of everything that is either under construction or that we simply couldn't ride for physical reasons. The one attraction that kept the park on our itinerary was ToT. I figured we could catch TSMM, ToT, and Star Tours, eat some lunch and then head back to the hotel for a nap before hitting MK in the evening. Knowing now how neglected ToT seems to be, I just don't want to have a bad experience taint my love of it. I've never ridden TSMM, but since it's all screens, I don't feel like it's something I'll regret missing. That leaves Star Tours. I really would like to ride the modern version of it, but not enough to spend the time necessary to go to the park, go through security, walk back to it, and turn around and leave. It's a shame that Disney has let one of their best attractions fall apart.

I'd love to, but we've already sunk so much money into our Disney tickets that I can't really justify shelling out more for Universal. We're just going to sleep in and relax that morning and head over the MK around dinner time. There are EMH until midnight, so we'll have a nice relaxing night seeing HEA and then just walking around. Luckily, we're at WDW for long enough that we don't have to rush to anything that day.

Tower of Terror is in fine shape as long as nobody drops a phone.

I felt the same way about TSMM until I rode it myself... It's actually a pretty great ride!

Also, don't leave out Rockin' Roller Coaster, easily the best coaster at WDW.

Slinky Dog Dash was surprisingly fun as well.

The Tower isn't anywhere near as bad as these boards would have you believe.

I would bet dollars to donuts that you won't even notice these issues.

It is the best Imagineered attraction in a US park. Period. Whether or not SW:GE can surpass it remains to be seen.

Star Tours is fun, and TSM is definitely worth doing.

i have noticed that within the past like 1 or 2 years there seems to be a lot more boats in one place. like, the area where you go down the hill to the room with the bees, the area where you go down the hill to the laughing place, and the main lift hill always seem to get backed up way more and way further back than i ever remember them doing prior to a year or 2 ago.

Because cast members are told to get the boats loaded up and off in 10 seconds. That’s the goal they try to hit. However, the main drop sends a boat every 15 seconds. Therefore it will always be backed up.

If you know a lot about ToT and how great the show quality used to be, or if you have a solid grasp on a/v, you'll recognize that it is among the worst show quality for attractions in all of Orlando. @marni1971 can confirm.

The audio throughout the entire attraction is missing, too quiet, or completely out of sync. For instance, you literally have to strain to hear the pre-show and the entire room of 50 people must remain dead silent as even a light cough will be louder than the video. The corridor scenes look dire and are broken and are completely out of calibration so the illusion effect no longer is believable . The 5th Dimension looks tacky and broken. The starfield door effect has been busted for quite some time. The horton doors are broken more often than not. Half the building is stuck on only one drop sequence. Most of the drop shaft special effects have gone out.

Personally, I like my thrill rides to feel like they give a crap about a/v quality. Compare to Spider-Man at IOA which always has phenomenal audio-visual quality and I've almost never seen any effect out. The difference of caring about an attraction's quality vs. keeping it merely functioning because people will ride it either way.

I’ve got quite a few notes from ToT when I have time to write them.

I can't wait for your trip report -- please say you'll do one!
It is definitely on my list of things to do. With it having been so long since I've been able to go to WDW, I'm thinking that the changes will really jump out at me. Not a bad thing, by any means, but it will be very different. Heck, the last time I went, New Fantasyland wasn't even announced and Stitch (shudder) had just opened.
