Great post, FLcastmember. Despite all those upcoming improvements to the parks, I think the best news is Eisner's imminent depature from Disney. I wonder how this will affect the parks, and how suddenly the effects will be seen? Would a new CEO immediately revise the plans, or are they set in stone? It's possible that new management could enthusiastically promise further expansions, though it's also conceivable that they might cut back maintanence, cancel the current expansion plans, and convert the WDW parks into Six Flags.

Hey Calamar, Imminent? Like when? I havent heard anything further about him leaving until at least 2006. Then again there is always the possiblity that the new Chairman can terminate him and just pay the remainder of his contract out no? Any more info would be appreciated!!! Thanks, Belle

Aunt Polly's is reopening? Sweet! Will it still have the good old-fashioned soft serve ice cream served in souviner cups? Doubt it.

Actually, you can get the souvineer plastic cups at the little citrus hut over in Adventureland near the Tiki Room. They come free with the frozen orange juice and they'll actually give you extra free ones if you ask.
You are talking about the frosted clear small cups with the castle and mickey balloons printed on them in white?
It's one of the few "free" souvineers at WDW. We have quite a good collection of them at home seeing as we get a few each time we go. I did get my first from Aunt Polly's though. I was disappointed when they didn't have them anymore, but pleasantly surprised when I discovered them at the citrus hut thing. Frozen orange juice is much more tasty than ice cream anyway...:animwink:

I wouldn't call it a 'brand new resort'. It was just getting a much needed renovation. Secondly, I wouldn't expect SoG to cause such a big increase in guests, seeing that it only has 300-400 rooms. Also, military COULD have been still been making reservations for SoG over the last year, but actually stay at the Contemperary. Not a lot of military knows about SoG, and combining a year long waiting list and a lifestyle thats extremely unpredictible with its relative obscurity won't lead to a HUGE increase in numbers.

SOG has been almost doubled in size to 586 rooms. The wait is not quite a year. Made res for May in Feb of this year. Also used the Contemporary for 3 stays which were the same rate as SOG but we had to pay the TAX. Always busy when I go. SOG can be used by Guard, Res. and DOD employees that have an ID....like me! I think has been slow because of work going on. Look for it it be busy IMO.

Yep, those are the ones. Shoot, next time I'm down I'm gonna have to stock up.

Hearing that it doubled it's capacity is great news. That will definantly allow for the waiting list to shorten. However, compared to the 1000+ rooms that Pop Century is giving us (which even though it is less luxurious is about the same price), in comparison it is not that amazing considering the exclusiveness of it. I'm happy to see it reopen though, hopefully I can fit a couple of nights in.

FLcastmember... thanks for posting those times. I was making my judgements off the September to November months. Out of curiousity are those the Febuary to May times?

Thanks FL Castmember, the thread topics needed your post :D
Those that know me will never accuse me of being a pollyanna, but I try to give the benefit of the doubt too. It is so easy to pick apart a superior product. When the bar is placed so high, it is easy to fall a little short.

Are there things I would like to see done better, you bet, but when I look at MY level of perfection, they top me every time. I'm writing this as I am watching "Wishes" out of my hotel room. Yea, they do some new things VERY well :sohappy:

I also think of those complainers we all see in the parks. The ones dragging their kids mercilessly and screaming all the way, the ones walking down mainstreet with their cigarettes, the ones that b*tch about a ten minute wait. I just think about how "perfect" their homelife must be :zipit:

Anyway, thanks for the glass half full observation...who knows, maybe we can even see Eisner as having done some good!

As for when Eisner is leaving, I don't know anything you don't know, if that's what you're wondering. I'm just excessively optimistic. :P

Nice Stuff. It is always nicer to look at things in a positive light. Take the Reds for example, they are pretty much going to stink, but at lease it provides some fun nights out for my family.
