There needs to be a 3 second rule.

No, I'm not talking about the amount of time food can be on the floor before it is unedible...I'm talking about the amount of time one should be required to wait for someone to take a picture, especially if that person is blocking a major walkway.

It amazes me how uncourteous people can be, they figure they can just block all of traffic for however long it takes to get the perfect shot. I'll gladly stop, give 3 or 4 seconds, and if they don't get it by then, too bad, they'll either have to wait for me to pass, or have me in the picture.

When I'm taking such a picture, I'll either wait for it to clear, or be prepared to have the picture done in 3 seconds. Any longer than that is too disruptive to everyone else. 1 second to aim. 1 second to snap. 1 second for picture to finish.

You obviously dont use a digital compact camera then.

I’m more concerned buy those who decide to have family meetings in walkways and entrances. But then I am one of those who take photos and no doubt your one of those irritating barstools that walk through

I do have a digital camera. That is why I said 3 seconds. If you DON'T have a digital camera, it only needs to be 2 seconds. The extra second is the pause between when pressing the button on a digital camera, and the actual picture being taken.

If memory serves, you're talking to a pretty accomplished photog there. He may win this one

I think 3 seconds is a little short, but I do agree that some people seem to take forever to get a shot. If I'm going to take a bit I usually wave people on through.

Not everyone will get a picture in 3-4 seconds, some peoples cameras take longer. I know at times mine can be a bit fussy and not want to take the picture but it happens. And sometimes people are new to taking pictures with a camera or just want to get a good shot.

Now I do get annoyed with the people that just flat out stop in the middle of a huge walkway with a large amount of people behind them, but when that happens, I just deal with it. I just am thankful I am not like them and that I know much better than them. I dont let it ruin my time at WDW, I have much better things to concern myself with, like having fun.

Let's also not forget that some people might not be familiar with the camera. It might be new. It might be someone else's and they're doing someone a favor, that sort of thing.

Also, I know that I often don't recognize someone is taking a picture until I see other people around me suddenly stopping. I'm sure I've come close to being a needless distraction in other people's memories because I don't notice a photo session in progress.

I WILL say this much however. In this day and age of digital photography and email, there is no, and I mean NOOOOOO reason for one group to have to have everybody pose for a series of pictures, one for each person's camera. Take ONE camera, ask a CM or guest who doesn't look like he/she can run fast to take ONE picture, everyone pose, snap, and whoever owns the camera can send copies to everyone's email after returning home.

I don't get how people can be rude and see you're taking a photo, but still walk infront of you. You can go around the person, it may be a few extra steps, but c'mon people.

I give way to people who seem like they are aware of the hold up they are causing and are trying to get the pic in quickly. What irritates me is the family/group that is totally insenseative to the masses when they decide to have a huddle in the middle of the walk way.:hammer:

I'm actually more annoyed seeing people throw the camera up and shoot, instead of taking the time to get the proper lighting and composition. Some shots takes me a good minute or so... but I always wait till everyone is out of the way. If there's a big crowd I save the shot for later.

I do wait...except for the ones like the OP is talking about. I have had it happen on every walkway to the hub, where the group is on one side, and the person taking the picture is on the other, holding their hand up for people to stop. I usually walk right in front of them, if they are longer then 10 seconds or so.

I do, however, walk around or wait at regular "picture" places...and have even taken a few pictures for people so they can get their whole group in. I take them as quick as I can, and if I can't figure out the camera, I walk back to the group for directions instead for keeping a crowd waiting.

I hate that too but am unable to prevent the inevitable irritation that follows.

I guess I need to work on that.

The problem is that everybody wants that big shot. Even though there are more than enough good photo locations in WDW, there are still the regular pics that everybody wants to have.

For example, it's extremely difficult to get a good solid pic of the Partners statue at night, since everybody wants a pic of their kid standing in front of it. Of course, they use a flash, which ruins any chance I have of getting a good nightshot of it from any angle. =/

I find it more aggrivating whem a group of people have to walk fanned out accross a whole walk way as oppossed to someone taking a picture. I am a very impatent person in my everyday life but when i get to Disney i have no problems waiting for someone to take a picture (always something to look at while waiting) or taking the few extra steps to walk around them.

What really makes me mad is when you stand in line for a character photo for what seems like forever, then when you are almost there the CM yells (insert character name here) will be leaving in 5 minutes. You look and there is only one family in front of you so you think you will make it when each child has their pic taken, then each adult has their picture taken, then they ask the cm to take a group picture with a camera that you need a masters degree to use and of course the dont speak hardly any english so explaining the camera is impossible. Then when they are finally done the cm looks at his/her watch and says the character has to go now but will be out in another hour. So then you have to explain to your kid why they couldnt see their favorite character. Then while the character is walking to backstage stops and poses for more pictures and the cm dosent say a thing. I wish they would use the baloon thing to show the end of the line more.

Well, I like my old fashioned 35mm (ok not that old fashioned) but I don't do digital its just a personal pref. for me. I don't mind waiting for a bit or walking around, but I am not going to stand there for an unlimited amount of time. Personally, I like to have my "people" up close and the Disney magic as the background. The one place I don't get where people just don't go around is at the resorts during quiet times (esp. mid day). the thing that gets me is how you go line up in toon town and the people in front of you wait in line forever and then as soon as its their turn THEN they start looking for their autograph book(s), ink pens and the perfect page for those particular autographs.

I'm sorry but 3-2 seconds waiting for someone to take a picture is just silly! I do agree that people might stop at inconvient places or block space, and it is annoying when people need multiple pictures or monopolize a character's time, however, people are on vacation. People on vacation take pictures! And I don't think anyone can say that they have never stopped in front of someone or gotten in someone's way, it is just something that happens. Some people who walk through pictures are too busy enjoying the scenery and don't notice the picture taker, but that is the beauty of digital....just delete it. People talk about being considerate but if you wait 10 seconds for someone to take a picture is that 10 seconds going to get you on a ride that much quicker?

3 seconds? No. 7 or so... sure.

Think about it... why are you in THAT much of a rush? Yes I HATE it when people have their family meetings out of the blue in the middle of the walkway so i walk into them... waiting for a picture... not a problem at all, actually gives you a second to remember the finer things in life... making memories...

If you got stopped 10 times a day for a 10 day vacation for 10 seconds each time... well thats one minute and forty seconds out of YOUR day for others... and 14 minutes... just 14 minutes over your entire vacation; out of 14,400 total... if you sleep 8 hours a night then its 9,600 minutes of waking time... so .14% of your vacation... not 14%... but .14% of your waking vacation spent on others...

God forbid anyone spend .14% of their vacation time on other people...

Lighten up... let people make their own memories for the small sacrifice you have to make...
