It was there yesterday. I was pointing it out to my girlfriend. I did sorta comment on the color. perhaps the painted it that color than just having a non painted shack up there.

That was fast. I guess they were just testing the cover to see what it looked like in practice. It looked horrible, so they got rid of it. No harm no foul.

My question is, why can't they use collapsible scrims?

I always thought I was a true Disney/WDW geek....................................until I joined this forum!
Of all my trips there, and I've been a few times (but not as many as some here, WOW) I have never noticed the projectors! You all really pay attention to detail. Now that I look at them, the projectors do stand out. I guess it's like looking at that picture of the old woman/young woman, once you see it you can't see anything else.

The projectors were just put there in January.

The structure is behind Main Street again being worked on. It looks like they might actually be trying to make it pretty.

Hopefully the person who created it isn't working on it, cause that was just awful! Mine as well just cover it with the corpse of an elephant and poke holes for the projector lenses in the body.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but isn't the second picture of the projector, the one not coverd, on the OTHER side of main street?? I believe they have yet to put a cover on that one, no? The one covered is on the Casey's side.....& that cover has been there for a bit. Nothing on the other side of Main St. has been added I thought?

Nope – both pictures are of Casey's -- you can tell by the red and white umbrellas -- the umbrellas in front of the ice cream parlor and The Plaza Restaurant on the other side of Main Street are yellow.

I don’t know anything about how the upper half’s of those buildings are constructed, but couldn’t they design a system where the projectors are on scissor lifts and rise into place for the show?

Its all office space and storage above main street. A lot of work and effort would have to take place for that to be possible.

Only 3 pages for this post? We've got a ways to go before this approaches The Lights of Winter level of complaints. Come on everyone let's pick up the pace.

I think the projectors are definitely an eyesore and something needs to be done to hide them. What was originally done didn't quite to the trick and actually seemed to make them worse.

My bigger concern is long term. I am fairly certain these projectors will continue to be used in some way after the memories campaign ends, in future castle shows, fireworks shows, holidays, etc. And I applaud that, because the projections are awesome.

But if they are permanently going to be located where they are, then they definitely need to put the time/effort/money into doing it in such a way that they fit naturally into the space and look like they belong as part of the building beneath.

With projectors like these, you want them bolted down and never moved. Every one of them has to be focused precisely, or you start seeing lines or gaps or overlaps in the projections.
If you start moving them up and down, you introduce a jostle factor.

The Illuminations searchlights in World Showcase are on scissor lifts mostly because they don't have to be as precise.

I wouldn't mind seeing a solid housing that's designed to blend into the Main Street buildings somehow, but then windows on the front open up, and the top opens up for ventilation when it gets to be showtime.

One of my biggest complaints in the photos that have been posted is that you can see through the window openings for the projectors and you can see that the "building" doesn't have a roof or back wall. Even the projectors for World of Color at DCA are in solid, themed housings that fold open before showtime...

The Liberty Square projectors have the best camouflage. Can you find where they are in this photo?

Aren't they in one of the windows.. I believe i saw light coming from them when watching it from a weird angle once... but i may be mistaken.
