The Yankee Trader closing for refurbishment - is a dedicated Haunted Mansion gift shop coming?

I really struggle see how well Yankee Trader would work for an on-ride photo. It's not exactly an "exit through the gift shop" sort of place; you'd have to exit, wander down a path, not turn off to the huge path to the snazzy new restrooms, and then wander into a fairly small shop that's a little further down and out of the way of all major traffic flow

It would work fine for an attraction-based shop, but at ~170' away from where guests exit the HM building (with a major walkway in between), I think it's a lost cause to try and get them all in there to view their photos
I'm sure they'll put a completely non thematically designed, butt ugly sign down in front of the pet cemetery pointing guests to the Yankee Trader for photos.

Ideally, they would have used the space now occupied by Rapunzel's Enchanted Outhouses....expanded pet cemetery towards the east and built a "Servant's Quarters" that would have been built to match the HM and housed restrooms and a gift shop.

There's no place for you and your logic here, @FettFan ! Knock it off with that ;)

Really though, I like your idea a lot. Haunted toilets!

I'm google mapping out where HM and YT are and what can be done in between, theming wise. Will report back after lunch.

I'm assuming the photo will be taken of the guests in the Doombuggy and the HHG will be superimposed onto it afterwards. I don't think it would work too well trying to take a picture of the mirror while also trying to capture the photo at a moment where the animation isn't moving all over the place.
Likely correct. However, one problem with on-ride photos on rides like this is that people don't know when a picture is going to be taken and have no reason the have a "good" face (i.e. a face they would pay $15-20 to see again and again). Look at most of the Buzz photos. Terrible.

I always seem to have a very competitive look on my face on this ride lol.

...I didn't recognize myself when I first saw the pic after we rode for the first time. it was terrible. A warning would have been nice. Needless to say, I didn't buy that one.

it kinda looked like this, but add wild high-humidity hair and about 3,400 chins (honestly, I don't know where the hell they came from as all my other photos look fine, but THAT pic, WHEW-EEE!)

Very cool! Yeah this should segue nicely into the new merchandise they have planned for fall ("100 new merchandise items based on this attraction") About time!

It will probably be mostly Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise...
It would probably be disneylands nightmare before christmas merch for their haunted mansion overlay. And most of the merch would feature disneylands mansion if this cross merch trend seems to prove anything.

Like the idea but Yankee Trader has had a dedicated HM merchandise section since a trip a took last Sept/Oct 2013. When I went back a week ago, all of the same stuff was still there. Then I checked online at Disney Store and much of it was marked down on sale.

So either people aren't liking what's being produced or don't know it's there or the price point isn't right?

Side note- changing Yankee Trader from classic New England white to weird off putting blue was a bad design choice. It needs a new paint job putting it back into the style of the area.
