Replacing Jeremy Irons on SSE, also the STUPID decent backwards update on SSE.

Makes me so mad to close my eyes and imagine memories of vibrant fiberoptive lights and future city models......and opening them to see my face half cut off on a dumb cartoon, in a pitch black tunnel. Grinds my gears!!!

My favorite post today!!! Spot on!!!!!!!!!

Tough question, but I'm going with something I don't think no one mentioned yet.

Disney MGM Studios rushed for Grand opening.

Dinsey MGM Studios grand opening in 1989 had the Great Movie Ride, Backlot Tour, The Magic of Disney Animation Tour,The Monster Sound Show, and Superstar Television as opening attractions. While Star Tours and Indiana Jones opened later in 1989, there wasn't a lot of attractions in the park as a working studio/theme park.

Adventurer's Club. Big, huge, dumbass mistake there. Classic, clean cut and unique family entertainment with an edge.

Sky ride..because a couple of dopes can't stay in their seatbelts.

Killing Horizons. Gorgeous Disneyness gone.

Stitch's crappy escape. (Mission to Mars was perfectly retro futuristic, no?)

Superstar television (maybe not popular but really good, family fun)

Letting river country become a horror movie setting.

Kitchen Kabaret. Couldn't they leave it alone and build Soarin' as an addition?

Letting Fulton's Crab House take over the entire Empress Lily riverboat.

Future mistake: taking down water feature in Poly lobby.

Avatar. Not...Disney-like......at all. I don't care how much $ it made in the box office, a whole LAND devoted to it? OY!

Not doing something with Ariel's at the Beach Club. Pretty space sitting there.

There's more but I don't wanna be Debbie Downer. ;-)

Next, the Park-formerly-known-as-MGM

-I love old movies so I was upset with the name change to DHS
-Is Max Steiner's "Gone with the Wind" theme still in the music loop? Because I remember hearing it near the Great Movie ride and I had goosebumps. Great music.
-Getting rid of Sid Cahuenga's - That was like the smile I get on my face when I walk through MK and see the railroad - And man, I found some good purchases there. It was unique and gave character to the front of park - Will miss seeing it next time. It got me pumped for the park, because I love old movies.
-The characters and the "Art Deco/Golden Age of Hollywood" merchandising. Anyone have what I call the "starlet-Jean Harlow Minnie plush doll?" I have a doll with Minnie wearing a silver/gold lame 30's gown and a matching bow. And I have Goofy dressed like a 1930's/40's director(sunglasses, cravat, hat…) the whole package. And a mug with Mickey and Minnie dressed like classic movie stars coming out of limo to go to a movie premiere. Miss that stuff.
-So, basically the lack of opportunities for more old Hollywood front of park, merch, restaurants, etc. Good, but I would like more.
-That the Muppet area has stagnated. A shop, 3-D attraction, and a courtyard fountain, and that is it. And I admit, I am not sure what more and I agree that ship might have sailed. But I would love to see them have a "home" somewhere.
-That Mama Melrose hasn't been re-themed yet when Sci-Fi and Derby and 50's are brilliant and they can do it again!
-That Pixar Place is stalled.
-My fear that Star Wars developments - Er, that we are going to have to be very patient with this...

Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
Alien Encounter was way too intense for MK. Studios? Maybe not. But it was one attraction my parents never forced me on or bribed me to get one.

I don't agree. It was a fun family attraction for my family. My kids knew they were at Disney filled with fantasy and the could differentiate. They were bright, they knew to close their eyes in any movie, TV Show or attraction the was visually scary. The movement part of Alien wasn't a rough ride. It had a 48" height, so about 8 years old. My kids by age 8 were seasoned Disney guests.

My DS rode Body Wars at age 3 when it opened. It only had an age requirement, which was 3 years old, originally there was not a height requirement. He came off laughing, me and DH a bit nauseous. When it came time for my DD as a preschooler to ride Twilight we explained the actual ride as only a elevator that goes down fast, no bumping or turning upside down. My toddlers Boo'd the ghoasts in HM, shot the pirates with their finger guns and were bored out their minds with Small World.

My advice often to parents is don't scare your kids. Don't overly describe the attraction. Most can handle attractions. And bribes worked well for us too. With kids 5 years apart in age we were so done with baby swap.

I would love to see that list too. What people's views are on Resort Mistakes. I know I have a few…
I am trying not to think about Poly right now. This really upsets me. I never fail to visit the lobby. Even if I'm not staying there.

On so many different levels I was disgusted with Lily's removal. It was a tribute that was gone, a good restaurant gone and structurally messed with the boat to the point of destroying the appearance.
Exactly! A beautiful, grand and elegant riverboat with a moving red paddle dedicated to and named after Walt Disney's wife, three lovely Disney-run restaurants...and now look at it. A dirty chain restaurant with mediocre clams and no paddle.
