The World's Most Magical Celebration - Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary

Well...I am sure there were many options presented and upper management chose the Pink...I would have hoped someone would have said that making the WDW castle look like another theme park's castle for WDW's 50th Anniversary might be a bad idea...
Perhaps for Disneyland Paris 50th Anniversary they will paint their castle pale gray with blue turrets mocking WDW's Castle... LOL
Sleeping Beauty is always associated with pink....
Cinderella is always associated with Blue...
There is a reason for the color styling...
Landmark Anniversary for a park?...Celebrate the things unique to the park celebrating.... It is pretty simple.
Fair! "upper management choose the Pink" another example of poor decision making.

Right now, pieces known as jabot and swag are being mounted onto the walls. A jabot is one of the long, hanging pieces of faux drapery; swag is a horizontal piece, a bunting of sorts. They are visually held together with broaches and gold pins (the small ones with “50” on them).

Last I heard, the celebrations were supposed to start on October 1st, 2021 and go on for 2 years, ending October 1st 2023. Is this still the projected timeline for this, or has Covid shortened/elongated how long these decorations will be up/any other 50th stuff?

Plan was always ~18 months. I’m under the impression that the timeline shifted from Memorial Day 2021-51st Anniversary to 50th Anniversary-Spring 2023

Yes, I posted that in TDR's Expansion thread! Hopefully TDR's insiders will chime in on if it's true or not.

Good to know the Floats are still up! :) I'm not worried about PTN/MSEP still at DLR yet...... Heck! There's not even a Pyro after hours test night on the horizon yet!

Any buzz about Magic Happens returning in May? DL's Birthday? Fall????
I don't think parades are coming back anytime soon. I have friends who are CMs and told me a lot of the parade performers were let go. Most of the furloughed ones are usually the character performers.

My bet is the same look of the castle decorations make their way to Main Street and the MK entrance/Train Station. Seems logical they would stick with the same style.

Interesting excerpts:

"That’s why I’m delighted to share that this iconic location will soon receive a fresh new look, expanded layout with more room to shop, and interactive opportunities to customize your confections like never before"

"To bring these concepts to life, both Main Street Confectionery and The Chapeau will close for refurbishment later this month"

"shimmering gold leaf being added to your favorite Fantasyland attractions" Is this the Peter Pan refurb? I haven't heard of this happening.

I guess candy at the Main Street Cinema makes some sense.

It’s a shame the shops just keep getting bigger instead of being like a street.

So is it safe to say we are going to keep seeing these “surprise” updates to parts of MK for the 50th. If so, that is cool.

What does the leaf mean? What does it have to do with Peter Pan?

At WDW, all parade performers are also character performers. And there are still a TON waiting for recall from furlough. It’s a little different than Disneyland where performers are only contracted to specific offerings. At WDW, performers can pretty much be trained to do anything (parades, shows, characters, puppets) as long as it isn’t equity.
