The Week of Sept 25-30

Hey all, heading to the world next Saturday, thought it would never get here! I know this is usually one of the slower times of the year to be there (usually why we always book Sept when we plan), was just wondering how the crowds are currently. I just saw that the Magic Kingdom extended park hours for Sunday, the 26th (plan to be there all day) and was wondering if crowds played a factor to this. The original closing was 8 pm with EMH after that, but now the park is scheduled to close at 10 pm, followed by EMH. Just wondering if anyone has seen an increase in crowd levels this year vs the last several years? I'd appreciate it! ;)

You're from York? I worked for York Intl and visited your town.

Touringplans.com usually updates their crowd calendar as necessary. I have been checking their 'Lines' App and things seem the same as past years.

There is no mention of crazy crowds in their blog, if that helps.

That's good to hear. When I saw they were extending the hours for that day, it sort of had me concerned that it was because of crowd issues. At least we'll get to see both Wishes and MSEP the first full night that we're there. I saw the hours for the weekdays didn't seem to have been adjusted that much or if not at all, with the MNSSHP nights remaining the same. I also saw that DHS had extended their hours a bit on our departure day (the 30th) as well.

So you came here to York at one time? Small world! When were you here? Yes, we don't live too far from where York International was/is. In fact, my grandparents lived a stone's throw away from the place.

I've never been there quite exactly the days you will be there, but we were there pretty close last October...very first few days. I don't remember the crowds being too bad...just watch out for MK days with the MNSSHP if you aren't going. Park closes early for regular guests and only lets party guests in. You probably already knew that though. Have a great time at the F&W Festival. We are very fond of it. Get there early, it is worth taking your time and sampling a little bit of everything.

But last October was the first real Fall that we spent there, so I can't give you a year to year comparison. Also, and a big *knock on wood* here, but be sure to be prepared because it is still hurricane season. VERY UNLIKELY, but still...be prepared and then forget about it unless you have to!

Just got back from The World today. Crowds for the last week were average (or a little lite) for this time of Sept. Been going in Sept for the last 7 or so years now - what a great time to visit if you can stand the heat! Yesterday was the only little bit busy day we had and it was at MK on a MNSSHP day, so I think that was drawing some crowds.

Have a magical trip!

I still miss that company. I visited there in 2004. It was my first time driving in snow! I am from Los Angeles, and it was a huge culture shock. The people were so wonderful and I still have fond memories. Is the campus/factor just empty now?

We are also arriving Saturday (and from PA!) and are hoping that the crowd level is low. I'm from Bloomsburg, Pa and because of the local fair the school districts have the entire week off. When we paid off our trip at AAA they said it's one of their busiest times of the year for booking Disney trips. I know my little part of the world won't do anything to the crowd levels at Disney, it's just interesting to me that it seems that a good portion of my hometown will be visiting at the same time lol. So far the weather forcast shows thunderstorms at times but that's it! Here's hoping that we both have a good vacation with good weather!!:sohappy:

Are you flying in? Wouldn't that be a pain having to switch resorts, especially if you're staying at the one only one night?

We never did Polynesian, but did do the Contemporary. Booked a garden room but got upgraded to the Tower, Magic Kingdom view. This was Sept 2003 and we even saw the fireworks one night. We've also done a moderate (POFQ) but still keep coming back to the Values. We've heard so many good things about Pop and are looking forward to it.

My husband and I just got back today (arrived 9/15) and we definitely noticed the crowd levels picking up beginning Sunday 9/19. We stayed at Riverside where lots of families were arriving Sun. afternoon.

We were unable to get on the 1st bus to MK on Monday a.m. shortly after 8 b/c there was no more room. We decided to take the EPCOT bus and the Monorail from there to MK since we were in no great hurry.

During the time we were there, none of the buses coming into POR stopped at POFQ first. BTW none of this is a complaint, just responding to the OP.

The saddest bus trip for us was our departing Magical Express this morning.

We are driving because we are stopping at my sister's in North Carolina on the way down and the way back home. My son (he's 16) doesn't want to go to Disney so he's staying with them and touring colleges in the area. It's about ten hours from my sister's house to Disney so add in stops and that kind of stuff and we don't expect to be there before dinner time. Instead of spending all the extra money on the Poly we decided to just stay at Pop for the night and then our tickets and stuff actually start Saturday morning when we check into the Poly. We are just packing a small bag so we don't have to unload the entire car. We plan on just hanging out and swimming Friday night and relaxing before we start in with the parks.
