Trip Report The We Canceled Everything, It's Over Trip Report!

I've been a member of this forum for about a year now but prefer to read from afar rather than being vocal on here. I've probably literally read every trip report (i'm a pro at procrastination). ] After reading so many great trip reports I thought I'd give it a go!

Originally this trip was supposed to happen from January 3rd - January 12th, but due to unforeseen snow storms and illnesses among family members we canceled everything eight hours before our flight was set to leave. Needless to say we were heartbroken and quickly rescheduled everything for January 6th! After losing all of our dinner reservations we kicked it into high gear and began picking up the pieces. So here is the story of our last minute vacation!

WHEN - January 6th - January 12th

WHERE - Disney's Wilderness Lodge (our first time, we usually stay at the Polynesian)

WHO -
Me (Anastasia) - lover of all things Disney, especially Peter Pan and Beauty and the Beast
Brother (Artie) - a go with the flow vacation goer
Dad - sick for half of the trip, has an obsession with the Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion Ride
Mom - the organizer/vacation planner, from maps to color coated charts she is the ultimate vacation planner

my family - the cast of this trip

Our trip began at 5:30am as we said goodbye to our furry friend and headed to the AC airport for our 7:30am flight!

airport breakfast

ready to fly!

As always security and the flight was no hassle! Before I knew it I was seeing palm trees! We decided not to take the Magical Express and took a car service instead. After DECADES of traveling (well maybe only 30 minutes) we finally arrived "home". I love how they say "welcome home" it's such a great feeling!

Day 4, Nighttime
how I met Arthur Darville, one of the old supporting characters, in NYC a few weeks ago (I tell everyone who's willing to listen), and guess what, the little boy met him in NYC too! It was a cool little moment for a dr. who fan like myself :)

Sorry for that little side story! We then went back to the room and I got changed for the hot tub! 104 degrees of loveliness! See, the Polynesian doesn't have this little perk so I was all about it. It was once again, the perfect ending to the day.

Day 5, A Morning With Mom

This morning was something I have been very excited about for quite sometime. As you have gathered, my family does not do mornings, and have therefore never seen the Magic Kingdom Opening Show. I didn't even know it existed until I joined this forum. No one else in the family wanted to entertain my morning excursion except for my mom. At 7:50 our alarm went off and by 8:05 we were both ready and on our way(I kid you not!).

After twenty minutes or so of people watching the show started!

"Good morning, good morning!" I love the touch of Singing in the Rain

We weren't planning on going on any rides but I think my mom was itching to get on something as much as I was! The obvious choice was to book it back to Fantasyland and ride Peter Pan, my personal favorite. When we were let in the park I felt like a shopper looking for a deal on Black Friday. You could tell everyone was on their own secret mission to hit their favorite ride with minimal wait time. When we were finally let into Fantasyland we booked it to Peter Pan. We were the third flight of the day, which was good enough for me! As we exited I thought we were going to go back to the hotel, until my mom suggested another ride.

You're never to old for a ride on the Carousel

Just one more ride (be my request)

After this my mom put her foot down and we headed back towards Main Street, while hitting Castle Couture along the way. You see we were rushing back because we were supposed to meet my brother and dad at Roaring Forks for breakfast. On the way out we were going to pop into Starbucks but the line was practically out of the door (I guess people are more concerned with their morning coffee than literally walking onto rides).

When we rushed back to the room (get this) the lights were off and dad and Artie were still sleeping. Livid that we could have taken more advantage of park time we woke them up and went down for breakfast as quickly as possible. As I have mentioned before my brother and dad eat at the pace of a snail, I thought I was going to go insane. Once they finally finished we went our separate ways. On today's agenda mom and dad were going to the Magic Kingdom while me and Artie were hitting Downtown Disney and were then going to all meet up at Hollywood Studios.

Day 5, Afternoon

After a quick wardrobe change on my part me and Artie were on our way to Downtown Disney. When we first got there we went into Goofy's Candy Company to look for something gluten free for my boyfriend. Unfortunately we left empty handed :( Next we went into (pardon me but I'm not going to know the legit name of any store) that mismatched sock store which is always fun. We then went to the store that connects to the sports store (the one that sells Disney women's clothing and accessories). I was still on my mission to find a silver Alix and Ani castle bracelet. They however did not have it.

Wanted to make myself feel better we went into the Toy Store!

After perusing for a bit I picked up the Finding Nemo the Musical soundtrack (which has been playing in my car ever since). Next we went to The World of Disney where I ended up buying my boyfriend a car sticker of Yoda wearing Mickey ears and carrying a churro! My brother asked me if he put stickers on his car and I said he would unless he wished to be single for Valentines Day :p This store also did not have any Alix and Ani bracelets left since the Christmas crowds bought them all out. Upon leaving my brother went back to the sports store in the hopes of finding and Eagles hat. They had about ten teams worth of apparel, but the Eagles did not have a hat.

We were then lucky enough to catch the Rainforest Cafe volcano going off on our walk to the lego store! I didn't have time to take any pictures but I was so excited, I had hoped to get a chance to see it go off!

Lego Store Fun

Why are legos so expensive?

It took me so long to get this stupid picture. Apparently some cultures don't understand the concept of a line.

Continuing on our walk we peeked our heads in the dinosaur restaurant. It seems way cooler than Rainforest Cafe, but maybe it's just because we have a Rainforest Cafe right in Atlantic City so it's not as exciting.

We then popped into a few other random stores (sorry, no names)

Hipster Mickey

We finally made it to our destination, Disney Quest! The last time I was here was on my senior class trip and the last time my brother was here was on his senior class trip. We had two vouchers from our vacation package and my brother really wanted to go so I said why not?

We pretty much hit all of the big games that you can't do anywhere else except Disney.

I LOVE this game!

After doing one to many motion simulators I sat down for a drawing class while Artie explored and played some single player games. I think it's kind of a joke that they make you pay for a copy of your drawing. Excuse me, we already payed to get in, you can afford to print me a piece of paper with some black ink on it. Needless to say I did not make the purchase.

My mom then called us to say our dinner reservation was actually at 4:30 not 5:30. Ooops! Time to book it! On our way out we found this cute little squirrel who my brother was ridiculously afraid of. Of course I made him take a picture.

A topiary from Edward Scissorhands

Our adventure towards getting to Hollywood Studio is not a fun story. For some reason we hopped on a bus to The All Star, because it was the first bus we saw and there was no direct bus to Hollywood Studios. Forgetting there was a billion and ten stops at the All Star (on senior trip we stayed here but had a private bus). After a half an hour and a little bit of bus sickness (I don't do well on buses) we made it with literally five minutes to spare!

Day 5, Nighttime

Upon entering Hollywood Studios with five minutes to spare I justified take a picture! A little bright but no time for finding a more apropos spot.

We went up to our dinner spot expecting my mom to freak out on us for cutting it so close but she wasn't even there! They were literally ten feet behind us, apparently their bus took a while too. Today's dinner took place at The 50's Prime Time Cafe, a first for us. After a ten minute wait we were called to our table, fit with tv and all!

This is when it started to happen. You see, the entire dinner my dad was having weird memories of old tv shows and old home decor resembling that of the restaurant. Actually, the table pattern they have there is the same one we have in our kitchen at home. I ended up getting the fried chicken and peanut butter and jelly milkshake. I was a little apprehensive about trying this but it was so good! It tasted mostly like peanut butter but also like jelly! But not a gross overwhelming jelly! So good!

My moms meal

Mine

I was ever so kind to give him the rest after he refused to order his own

We were a bit engaged in those milkshakes

It came time to leave and we will definitely be coming back. Everyone loved their bit of comfort food. When we left we had a lovely photo shoot with my favorite hat. It's hard to believe it wasn't there on my first trip to Disney. I couldn't imagine going there and having it missing.

We had a fast pass plus scheduled for The Great Movie Ride earlier that day and went to the ride to see if they would let us still use it and they did!

I LOVE Leonard Nemoy and Spock a lot!

We had the gangster scene and they guy who took over our car was great, he reminded me of my friend Anthony from home. However, our good guy driver was terrible. She literally had no personality, it sounded like she was reading a cue card.

Sorry, I couldn't post everything in one post!

We then had a weird amount of time before our Toy Story Mania fast pass plus so me and mom went to see The Muppets 3d while Artie and dad explored the area. To be honest the muppets creep me out, a lot. The show was cute I guess, I've seen it before and I don't mind it, it's just eh though

Upon leaving we saw there was no line to meet Lightning Mcqueen and Mater so I called my brother and dad to meet us.

And then we saw Phineas and Ferb! I love they, they're hysterical!

It was finally time for our Toy Story Mania fast pass plus. On our walk over we noticed something, there was no more Christmas music! Hallelujah! We were back to good old Hollywood music! Our ride was good as always, and as always I got a smidge motion sick. That thing whips you around like non other!

My competition!

After I wanted to go to the Animation Courtyard and take a drawing class with Artie. Well we missed it by, wouldn't you know, two minutes. We met back up with our parents and watched that Mushu animation show. I felt so bad for the cast member in the show, there were seven of us scattered around that big room. They updated it to incorporate Frozen so that was nice. As always it was funny.

When we left my dad needed a bottle of water so we found a random popcorn stand. We got two pretzels, a bag of popcorn, and three drinks for our next destination, Fantasmic! This is hands down without a doubt my favorite show in all of Walt Disney World. It inspires me, it makes me happy, and has all of my favorite characters and great music, what more could I want? No pictures though, I wanted to take it all in. As always the princess floats made me misty eyed. Before I knew it it was over and time to leave my favorite park for the last time :( It was a great time though!

Taking photo advantages on the way out

On the way out we walked through the shops and bought a Hollywood shot glass for my friends 21st birthday! That concludes day 5, more tomorrow! :)

So far we love your trip report....glad that everybody is feeling good and able to enjoy the trip!!!
Thank you! It worked out nicely since me and Artie are older because we could split up with the parents during the day, giving them time to relax if my dad still felt under the weather.

Me and my mom ditched the boys on my 16th birthday too (also celebrated in disney) and spent the night around then MGM and watched fantasmic together and then met up with the guys in magic kingdom later. Like any mother daughter moment it was very special! And yeah my brothers great, we have our moments, but he's pretty good at amusing me on vacation. He's 22 like your son but we're three years apart. Thank you so much for following along :)
