Trip Report The We Canceled Everything, It's Over Trip Report!

I've been a member of this forum for about a year now but prefer to read from afar rather than being vocal on here. I've probably literally read every trip report (i'm a pro at procrastination). ] After reading so many great trip reports I thought I'd give it a go!

Originally this trip was supposed to happen from January 3rd - January 12th, but due to unforeseen snow storms and illnesses among family members we canceled everything eight hours before our flight was set to leave. Needless to say we were heartbroken and quickly rescheduled everything for January 6th! After losing all of our dinner reservations we kicked it into high gear and began picking up the pieces. So here is the story of our last minute vacation!

WHEN - January 6th - January 12th

WHERE - Disney's Wilderness Lodge (our first time, we usually stay at the Polynesian)

WHO -
Me (Anastasia) - lover of all things Disney, especially Peter Pan and Beauty and the Beast
Brother (Artie) - a go with the flow vacation goer
Dad - sick for half of the trip, has an obsession with the Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion Ride
Mom - the organizer/vacation planner, from maps to color coated charts she is the ultimate vacation planner

my family - the cast of this trip

Our trip began at 5:30am as we said goodbye to our furry friend and headed to the AC airport for our 7:30am flight!

airport breakfast

ready to fly!

As always security and the flight was no hassle! Before I knew it I was seeing palm trees! We decided not to take the Magical Express and took a car service instead. After DECADES of traveling (well maybe only 30 minutes) we finally arrived "home". I love how they say "welcome home" it's such a great feeling!

Day 6

This morning my entire family was inspired to wake up for the opening ceremony! At eight oclock we all drug ourselves out of bed, got ready, and headed down to Roaring Fork to grab a bagel for the ride. All was on schedule, until we stepped on the bus. Since the marathon was that day we had to be dropped off at the Transportation and Ticket Center, so no opening ceremony for us :( Once we arrived at the Transportation and Ticket center we waited for the express monorail only to find out it was broken. We practically ran to the resort monorail and it pulled up just a minute later. At 9:07 (I was obsessively looking at the time) we entered the Magic Kingdom (not bad, not bad!)

We didn't really have a game plan so we went on buzz. As always I rode with my mom because my brother and dad cheat (they read the high scoring targets online). We then wanted to ride winnie the pooh but it was closed! No worries, I'll just go meet Rapunzel and Snow White.

Of course I half blinked. I must say though I got two compliments in this cue alone on my shirt. And it's true, Cruella is the best villain because she can exist in real life!

Again, they thought Artie was my prince charming...awkward. I clearly cannot take a picture in the morning without blinking.

After, we had our first fast pass plus for the day for us to ride Voyage of the Little Mermaid. They really nailed this castle.

Then we headed over to Philharmagic, everything was in check. We finally killed enough time for my next mission! This killed enough time for my next mission. It was finally the moment I had been waiting for all trip, to meet Gaston! The line only took about fifteen minutes.

My love

He then properly introduced himself to my dad and congratulated him on the honor of being in Gaston's presence.

Then we headed over to Thunder Mountain for our next fast pass plus. The first launch was pretty rough but other than that it was great! Then we went back over to the Harbor House for some lunch. Sorry no pictures

My parents then headed back to the room for some relax time while I drug Artie on my super long Alix and Ani mission. We started off on the monorail to the Contemporary. I know a lot of people like this hotel but it just feels very much like a city feeling. Unless you're in the main building with the monorail I feel as though the atmosphere is lacking. Unfortunately the did not have the silver castle bracelet :( So off we went to the Grand Floridian. This resort is absolutely stunning but a little too uppity for my taste. They unfortunately also did not have the bracelet.

Feeling defeated I called my mom who convinced me to just get the Mickey bracelet from the Contemporary. Back on the monorail we went! When we got there the last one was gone. All they had left were the Minnie ones :( I then convinced my brother to go back to Magic Kingdom just to triple check. Nope, nothing. I did get a pretty swell Mickey chocolate covered apple though!

Accepting defeat we headed back to the room to freshen up after our hour and a half excursion

Day 6, Night

Tonight was the night we were finally going to get some Epcot time done (after a two hour nap of course)! We took the mandatory ride in Spaceship Earth. I really do enjoy this ride but think the end is a complete waste. That is half of a ride with nothing but a touch screen. Why did they even take the old stuff out? Also, can we all agree that Leonard Nemoy would be the perfect voice for that ride?!

My dad and brother then went to ride the single rider line for Test Track. I decide to stay back with my mom because I had no desire to look at the cars afterwards. We had other plans, to go to Mouse Gears. At last I found the last copper Mickey Alix and Ani! :joyfull: My mom also got me Mickey measuring spoons for my apartment (which I just used to bake cupcakes with).

Sorry for the short post, Bridesmaids is on and there's peanut butter cookies in the oven! More tomorrow!

Up next, a jolly good time!

Day 6 Night (finally!)

Sorry this is nearly two weeks later! With college and work starting up again along with moving a new roommate in, things have been pretty crazy. But no worries, this will get done (and not rushed like the above posts!)

Where was I? Oh yes, I just got my bracelet (which I'm wearing now) and me and mom were on our way to meet Artie and my dad for dinner. Tonight's dinner was taking place at Rose and Crown. This was a first for us. We went up to check in and were greeted by two lovely British men :inlove: We got our buzzer and waited to be seated, and by waited I mean took pictures!

My mom is all about the topiary''s

After our photo fun our buzzer went off and it was time to eat! We were seated right near the gate to the bar so it got quite loud at some points, but that was the only downside to our table. Much to my disappointment and my brother's approval our waitress was a female (no attractive British man for Anastasia).

Me and Artie ordered the fish and chips while the parents got the steak. I loved my meal but Artie just wasn't having it. I think he thought there was too much fish. My dad swears that was the best steak he's had in a long time but my mom thought it was just eh, so who knows?

For dessert Artie and mom had the toffee pudding while me and dad had something else (I have no idea what it was called). Honestly it tasted like a tasty kake with some raspberry drizzled on it. It was good, but I think I could make it from ingredients found at wawa.

After waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and....waiting our waitress finally decided to give us the check. Now usually I wouldn't mind, but it's our last night in Disney and we've got all the countries to walk through, pick up the pace! Once we were out we headed to the stores in the good old UK! Upon walking in we were greeted with a plethora of Dr Who merch! (If you didn't notice by my brother's bow tie and my tardis shirt, we're a dr who family).

We both bought the sign Artie is holding (mines currently hanging on my apartment door), my dad bought a Downton Abbey shirt, as did my brother. We explored all of the stores and were almost done with that country before seizing a golden opportunity! Mary Poppins with basically no line! Score! She was lovely as ever.

Up next, more countries!

Day 6, Continued

When I last left off we were leaving the UK to go explore the rest of the World Showcase. Our next stop was France. Nothing really special to report here. It's beautiful but I don't like the way the shops smell! Up next was Morocco. Now if any of you watch dr. who and have noticed my brother's bow tie, you know where we were heading. FEZ's! Fez's are cool!

After that little mission, we were off to Japan! Japan, in my opinion, has one of the best pavilions. I love the merchandise and the layout in general. This is definitely one of my favorites. I also love looking at the food here. I just want to try everything but since nothings in English it's a little too sketchy for me. Yes I know Disney wouldn't sell sketchy food, but I just don't like not knowing what I'm eating.

We kind of always skip through the American pavilion. The smell of burgers and fries just doesn't pull us in. Sorry America, you're great, just not particularly at nighttime Epcot. This being said, off to Italy! Now I'm from a town chock full of Italians. We're talking eight pizza places and counting. I think this pavilion is very cute, unfortunately we were all too full for any Italian desserts :(

Next up, Germany! Now for some reason, my dad developed a weird obsession with German clocks on this trip. He looked at all of them, examined them, stared at them...took forever! I'm all about admiring the craftiness of handmade clock but it only take just a moment.

Now, onto my photo shoot!

nice

that's more like it!

the princess!

the princess and the queen!

then there's the men...

With that behind us, off to China! (we skipped out on that weird outpost, it's just unnecessary). I just love this lion!

probably insulting the workers...

we might be horrible people

After this we found ourselves in Norway. I love the little ride in here, so fun and no line! When we exited we found ourselves in a torrential downpour! So we just looked around in the shops. Honestly though, who actually buys the clothes in that one store!? They''re so expensive! I did catch a glimpse of Ana and Elsa though (do you wanna build a snowman...).

While hiding from the rain we bought two things of school bread and two cream fruit puff things (they weren't good at all) to bring back to the room. We decided to brave the rain and head over to Mexico. This is another favorite, it's so beautiful. It's truly amazing how Disney can transform a warehouse into a country. We rode the Mexican ride and shopped around. My brother has been buying those ceramic birds every trip since he was eight. This being said, my parents kept the tradition alive and bought a little one for his room.

Having no where else to go we trekked to the front of the park with wet shoes and dripping hair, but we're in Disney.

Up Next, Our Last Day

Day 7, Our Final Day

My notes kind of went missing for this day. Somewhere between packing and unpacking and traveling and moving into school I lost them. But no need to worry, I think I can remember enough through pictures and memory! The morning started around 10. We packed up our last minute things and realized we never took pictures of the room! After this revelation I took a few snaps of our messy room.

I love how the animals don't look at you as you shower, nice touch.

Our view

Our blurry messy home

We then called baggage and had our luggage collected and stored away. After saying goodbye to our room we left and headed down to Roaring Fork for breakfast. Every time my brother walked past this light he said how much he loved ghat little otter/beaver man.

Now let me just say, I had been so excited to see the geyser the entire week. However me and Artie somehow managed to miss it every single day! We would have missed it again if my mom hadn't exclaimed that it was erupting!

Breakfast tips from Timon and Pumba

Now it was time for our resort photo shoot (the outdoor portion)

This resort it so beautiful

These trees were so cool!

This ends the outdoor portion of our Wilderness Lodge tour! Stay tuned for the indoor portion as well as our last magical day!
