Rumor The Wave to become an 'Incredibles Steakhouse'

Hate to be the devils advocate here (well not really), but the Wave is half empty at best most nights , why should Disney pay to operate a restaurant that most people don’t find appealing , its about turning over tables , and you can’t turn them over when they are empty

We lost the battle when they made Artist Point character dining along with GotG going into Epcot with that ridiculous back story.

The Bob’s have one goal - cram IP wherever they can to make an extra buck, regardless if it goes with the theme of its location. After all, it’s about making it more Magical, More Timeless, and most importantly, More Disney!

To be fair, before the Bob’s came along we lost a great Norway buffet and a formal non-character dinner at Cinderella’s Castle. I also miss the non-character Tusker House.

the theme is actually Modern Architecture. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modern_architecture
which makes the resort's name a misnomer once we hit the 21st century https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contemporary_architecture
I agree with everyone who thinks they should lean into the 20th century modernism theme, with the Disneyland Hotel a perfect example of how to do that. Just as the DLH has all sorts of tributes to mid-twentieth century Disneyland throughout the hotel, they could easily do something similar using 1970s-era WDW + early-1980s Epcot posters, concept art, etc. through the Contemporary. It could be glorious!

I also actually think the Contemporary is a perfect name for the resort as it speaks directly to a kind of mid-twentieth century obsession with communicating the modern and contemporary through architecture. I can't imagine anyone building a hotel in contemporary architectural styles today and calling it "The Contemporary Resort".

As for the restaurant re-theme, I don't like this cartoonification of everything but it wouldn't surprise me.

If they wanted a full-service restaurant that performs better, they should move it back up into the Concourse and move the quick-service back downstairs.

I agree with that, also the concourse is in horrible need of a makeover, at one time it was really beautiful with lighting, foliage, and with a nice restaurant in the middle and plush seating areas.....,its been treated like a ugly ghetto since all that was removed back in the 90s. The resort use to be top notch, instead its been left like a stagnant mall 20 years over due for a makeover. Im sure the rooms are kept nice, but the place itself needs attention.... not surprised by the incredibles rumor.

The rooms are very nice , but totally agree that ALL common areas , especially the outside resort areas need a major reimagining

Guess I'm in the minority, but having eaten there in the near past, it was very good. Priced reasonably (for WDW that is) food was prepared very well, service was great. Being not busy is a GOOD thing for the customer. Not every restaurants needs to be a "must make ADR's 180 days out or else" does it? They already have character dining in the CR, do they need more?

Contemporary theming aside, I'm all for a new steakhouse and for the creation of an Incredibles character meal... but "The Incredibles Steakhouse" has some... branding issues.

We were just there a couple of weeks ago and the food was amazing! And it was 3/4 full. I think it’s a hidden gem. We try to go there every visit.

Disney did it to themselves building restaurants at an exponential rate and overcharging on the food. Forcing potential guests off-site or into their competition's arms.

If they wanted a full-service restaurant that performs better, they should move it back up into the Concourse and move the quick-service back downstairs.

Together, these perspectives lend support for The Wave's underperformance. First, as a Tables in Wonderland member who regularly dines at the resorts, all of the table service restaurants offer small portion sized entrees that are significantly overpriced. Second, The Wave is tucked away in the corner, to the side of the reception desk, in a lower traffic area (in comparison to the Grand Canyon Concourse). Personally, I find that the lack of windows does not help the atmosphere.

As noted by @*Q*, flipping Contempo Cafe and The Wave would seem like a logical solution. Guests staying at the resort are going to go wherever the refillable mug station is located.

I'm not against all the IP, just wish they would have some kind of variety. You can already see these characters (Mr/Mrs. and Frozone) at HS why wouldn't they have Zootopia or another IP that isn't already represented regularly in the parks?
