Why do you all have to be so negative? Rather then being the thorns on the path, be the steps.

I encourage all to do what they want, to accomplish their dreams. EVEN IF THERE ARE OTHERS DOING THE SAME THING. One can find a way to distinguish themselves. There are more then enough people in the world for two groups. I would happily join both.

And he is not trying to destroy another group. Whats life without obstacles?

Please stop the bashing. Join the club instead!

Er, ok, I guess I should say something, since I'm the moderator of SOJI...

In my opinion, he can start one if he wants, everyone can start an imagineering club..I know of another one that exists out there, although, I'm not on very good terms with the moderator over there (He wanted /ME/ to put a link to his club on my site, but he refused to put one to mine on his..so, ________ on him.)

I also don't think anyone is bashing the guy...Bashing would involve using very negative words, everyone on here has been more or less suggesting to him that if he wants to be involved with an imagineering type 'club' that SOJI would be the easiest way to do that, and in my opinion,the best way to get some good feedback on ideas. Of course, it would have been easier for me to just stay on the Imagineer? Board, but I branched off..So I can see why he'd want to.

After saying that, I welcome him on SOJI wheter or not he starts his own group...Thanks Mom, but I really wouldn't be offended of more members went to his club, heck, if it worked better, I'd join over there.

And guys, I hate seeing the word 'competition' on here, ideas are not competitive..It's an ugly word in the buisness of imagination.

As Chad already pointed out none of us are being negative, rather we are giving contructive critisism which is a very healthy thing.


Yes, there are ways to distingusish ones self however his only distingushing factor, is null and void. Yeilding his group the same as SOJI which is fine, maybe he will run his a different way.

We are trying to make him aware of the fact that the clubs will be virtually identical and if so it does seem odd to have two. Like Chad said there is no "competion" in creativity and imagination, it is not like we would be running rivial bussniess, rival clubs seem extranoues.

If he wants to make a seprate identical club fine(it confuses me then to why he would still be an active member of another identical club) or if he would distinguish his club in another way that would also be fine. I think the main problem here is that he has in no way responded to constructive crtisisim and rather other people have tried to answer for him. His last post was this is "a totally different club", well how? We already know he will not be able to submit his ideas to WDI with any avail, that is just a fact.

I think we should all just wait for Wannabe Walt to answer the critisicim and question about his club before we disscuss this any further.

I guess I owe all of you an apology. I must have been hypersensitive, and a little overprotective of my kids!

I guess I'm the only one who felt it was equivalent to going to a party with someone, and having him spending the evening flirting with, and asking for phone numbers of, all of the other girls there. Since there is no commitment or promises of exclusivity, he wouldn't technically be doing anything wrong....it just wouldn't be nice. However, if I brought him as a friend, with the expectation that he would be meeting girls, it would be fine...although it still wouldn't be nice if he completely ignored me. ;)

Apparently, I was mistaking this thread for the former, when it appears it's closer to the latter. My mistake; I'm so sorry if I've offended anyone.

I'm sorry James...I'm kinda powerless when it comes to getting people accepted. All I can do is send names to Steve, and he approves them. Your name has been sent, so it should be anytime now. Just look for it in the imagineering section...We're working on getting this system simplified..So hopefully things will work out

Whatever makes you think that you OWN your thread? This is a public forum...anything you post can, and probably will, be discussed by other people...and not all of them will agree with you.

Coming on here and shouting, insulting people, and generally throwing a temper tantrum is not going to make people interested in joining your little club....unless they enjoy that type of behavior! :rolleyes:

I think my response to your original suggestion was phrased politely, and I even (in a second post) gave you an analogy to explain WHY I felt the way I did. The other SOJI members were actually supportive of you, so I don't quite understand why you're getting so upset! I was quite willing to follow their lead, and assume I had misjudged your intentions....until your last post!

I personally hope NO ONE from this forum joins your group...but that's just my opinion. ;) Everyone is free to do as he/she pleases...even if I (or you) don't agree. :) However, I am also free to voice my opinions in ANY thread posted here, as long as I do it politely.

And no offense to all of you who are very interested in imagineering, etc, but there is already a dedicated area with 4 subsections...do we really need another? Especially if it will be duplicating an existing one?

What is so important that you need a President and Vice President? Seriously. Also. If you only need 1 -3 of the model makers and story designers. What will your other members do? Comment about your work? Eh' :rolleyes:
