The Walt Disney Company brands, franchises, and offerings survey, including The Simpsons

Who said setting is the only factor? Content. There is a nice big log flume that has been reduced.
You also now say comparable.
I figured setting was exclusively what we were talking about here. I really don’t understand how we got from Fast Food Boulevard at USF to Splash Mountain
What do you see Disney doing better letting WDI do with Simpsons?
How do you feel Universal's area does not match up to the fictional one?
There are settings in The Simpsons, namely their house, that Universal didn’t touch. I think that would be a great thing to put up as a meet and greet area, which I think is the most realistic thing they would do in WDW. If they were to make a ride, there’s tremendous potential to surpass a simulator that would be dated even if it were still firing on all cylinders and a spinner. It’ll never happen, but a dark ride could be fantastic.

Universal threw all of the food settings from the show into a single building, so none of them really match up to what’s on screen other than Moe’s. They also made up the Cletus, Lisa, and Bumblebee Man ones specifically for the park. The Kwik-E-Mart looks completely different than it does on screen beyond the sign. I like Springfield at USF for what it is, but it’s pretty obvious that next to none of it was a fresh build.

I’m not saying Disney should build a full scale ‘90s McDonald’s with Krusty’s face on it, but to say Universal did is just incorrect. None of the areas there are true matches to what was shown on screen.

I’m neutral on the Simpsons as an IP, I’m not totally against it going in the parks however I would guess it’s going in DHS and I wish DHS would have more young kid/family friendly things as opposed to things that are gearing towards adults (Yes I know they have Toy Story land but my 2 year old can’t do anything there)

The Simpsons isn’t “going in” anywhere

Just like they’re not building a suped up marvel land

Now if you tell me they’ll try to rig some new place based on older Pixar or bad lucasfilm?…you’re in the ballpark
IMO that makes as much sense as the Simpsons does. Why add new attractions based on dated or bad IP?

I get the Simpsons are on the downside of its content and are becoming irrelevant. I can say the same with Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Cars and Monsters INC. All of which are 20 years old at this point.

You think Universal missed out on a meet and greet in The Simpsons House...

to your other thoughts, it was a way to include those places and great references without having to dedicate their own building and set for each.

The same way Toontown is scaled down to include all the buildings, some functional and some not.
Don't act like this is a Universal thing as Disney has done this plenty of times.
amalgamation is common in theme parks.

Look at what they chose to be represented and shoehorned into Advengers Campus.

You saying what Disney would choose to with same property would be better as if a guarantee is not some definite, nor likely.

And you don't want a true match in theme parks for many reasons. It is a unique medium.

All this being said. A lot of things end up on surveys for different reasons than what people imagine.

Don't stress about it because a Simpsons Springfield Scale is not happening.

I've said this before, but I expect if Disney ever built a Simpsons attraction, it'd probably wind up being a ride version of those awful Disney Plus shorts. Y'know, the ones that are little more than just ads for the streaming service and have them interacting with Disney characters? It'd be horrific.

I think people are taking this a little too hard. The contract with Universal is speculated to be ending in the next few years. Disney owns the property and its 100% a cultural icon even today. They would be foolish not to atleast see if people are interested in something regarding it.
Interested in seeing if people will not mind seeing merch and presence on property and an entire theme park land are two very different things.

You will not see an entire theme park land at WDW dedicated to Simpsons and nothing on the scale Universal did with them from over 15 years ago.

Like I said, it makes sense for them to atleast ask. Especially considering as shown before, this is the generic questionaire for every IP/franchise/company Disney owns so why would they omit the theme park idea for one property because some people don't love it? It makes sense to get more broad feedback and not let anyone know what cards they're going to play yet.

Because it shows Disney has no understanding of not only the IP but the fanbase of the property they acquired.

All you have to do it look at how they've stewarded major franchises they've purchased and you can clearly see that leadership does not know what they're doing.

They've been forced into this, because most of what they've made recently (via Pixar, Lucasfilm, Marvel, Disney Animation) has not been any good, so they're reliant on nostalgia for when their product was actually good.

Almost everything post 2019 has been at best mediocre, and the failures have outnumbered the successes.

I love the Simpsons and would like to have a place where I can visit Springfield. I love going on the Simpsons Ride and getting a Krusty Burger every time I’m at Universal.

That being said, it’s not super “Disney” to me. It would definitely feel weird seeing Homer alongside Mickey, Pooh, Woody, and R2-D2. But I can’t say he would be the weirdest character I’ve seen at those parks either (Power Rangers, anyone?)

It would all depend on what their plans are for this land and what it replaces.
