Say what you will about Paramount and WBD but at least the’ve put out hits like Top Gun Maverick, Dune and Barbie. Disney’s movie division has completely fallen off a cliff.
We had a 200 page thread that assures you that you are - in fact a mistaken. Nobody fails less than Disney. It’s your imagination.

Also…the last Jedi wasn’t any more decisive than the empire strikes back when it it was released. It was me and 4 other guys in moms basement

And jar jar binks is my aunt Tilly

All TRUE!!!

I’m a hockey fan, and my Knights won the cup last year so I’m a happy camper, we may miss the playoffs this year but no one’s calling for any players or the coaches to be changed, amazing how being successful quiets criticism.
You want to watch Mike Sullivan say the same things everyday for the next 4 years and then revisit your feelings?

The point is…things change. Which I thought was a universally accepted concept until this wasted day of nonsense debating if the earth is flat

Agree, but it’s now 2024, 2019 was 4+ years ago. I’ll excuse 2020 because of Covid but they haven’t had a hit in the theaters or in the parks since 2019. (Excluding Avatar 2 which they only distributed).

Are we talking about just movies again?

'20 and '21 were a wash in my opinion for everyone. Even then in '21 they had #2, #4, #6 and #11 with Jungle Cruise. Throw in #1 if you want to count Spider Man No Way Home.

Disney won in '22 with Avatar, Thor, Dr. Strange and Black Panther.

To continue with the analogy 2023 was a down year, but they still made the playoffs with the 4th, 8th and 10th grossing movies worldwide. Ant Man was 11th. (Domestically they had #4,6,7,8 and 12). Obviously budgeting made them worse off.

Yes it is '24 but we can talk this year ... in about 9 months.

Does a win only count when they have the #1 box office movie and lose whenever they don't?

Peltz would be one person on a 12 person board where the 11 other board members fully support Iger, you don’t think he’d be outnumbered?

Even if they somehow managed 2 seats they’d still be outnumbered 10-2… seems pretty obvious. This is also why I say he’d be a consultant, he’d be a minority voice, he wouldn’t have the power to do anything beyond offering advice, the board and Iger can either agree or ignore him. Not exactly rocket science here.
That isn't how this works. Sure, he starts outnumbered but getting on is the hard part. Once you are in, pushing your agenda is relatively simple in comparison. Access to the internal information alone can do all kinds of damage and if he is smart, he will use it to help get what he wants.

If that doesn't work, he can always fall back on the standard activist investor playbook and push, cajole, threaten, or out maneuver others to add more seats over time. It isn’t even all that uncommon for them to come back to the public to cry about being ignored and how if only everyone would listen to them the company would be in a much better place so they need another seat or two.

But who cares if activist investors have proven time and time again that their main concern is the stock price which, in the long run, generally leave companies worse off than before they got there because we get to stick it to Iger! A guy that is gone in a few more years despite the claims of some that he will live forever. So sure, that seems like a smart move, create a long-term problem for something that has a short-term solution.

No worries. Iger will cruise to victory. Business will continue as usual in all areas in TWDC.

A winner in my opinion, is a movie (made by any studio) that makes more money (meaning money that makes it back to the company) from the box office than they spent to make and market the move.
By Disney’s own standards…a movie also develops “brand loyalty”

It makes you want to watch haunted mansion again…not bury yourself in the graveyard

What exactly do you qualify as a hit in the parks? Does Cosmic Rewind not count? Runaway railway?
It’s hard to tell when they’ve let capacity shrink relative to attendance for 20 years

You’re there…you spent a ton…gotta ride SOMETHING.

I would say guardians is a definite hit…smugglers run is not…and all the other stuff somewhere in the middle?…trying to be objective.
