The Universal Rumors thread

Here's a rumor for USH, given by Jim Hill (take it with a grain of salt):

The Hogwarts Castle in Hollywood will be built full scale, and it will also include the Great Dining Experience. We'll see if that actually happens or not, as we all know Universal doesn't announce things.

That'd be pretty cool, but it still wouldn't be enough to get me to go to USH.

Gah. I just can't seem to bring myself to liking the idea of WWoHP being cloned. Kind of like how I feel about Cars Land.

But whatever! "A Great Hall" dining experience sounds amazing, and will really help to add some uniqueness to the Hollywood WWoHP. I'd say the closest thing we have to the Great Hall at Islands of Adventure are the floating candles in the Dragon Challenge queue... Haha.

That's a shame. There's a lot of history at USH, and the studio tour is worth the price, IMO. But I'm a huge movie buff, and Universal Hollywood is legendary to us movie fans. USH is unlike any theme park, including USO. It's the real deal. More for us that enjoy it!:D

You know me. I would have preferred something original, but they don't listen to me, LOL. Universal is always putting attractions in pretty much all of their parks, so I guess I should have seen this coming.

Remember, pretend this Great Hall isn't coming. I don't believe any of it, and I won't until we either receive an announcement or I see it for myself. Floating candles sound amazing.

Well, with the transition of the "Merlinwood" section of The Lost Continent into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, I was extremely disappointing with how Dueling Dragons was basically ruined. This part of the queue went from this...

Granted, the flash ruins the lighting for both of the photos and the candles don't look that bad. But nothing beat walking into the eerie "ice room" where the ice dragon literally froze knights and horses onto the walls and the ceiling. Once Dueling Dragons was changed to Dragon Challenge, it became a shell of its former self. The queue was regarded (and rightfully so) as one of the best in the world. But alas, it got reduced to dark cave tunnels with a few scattered lanterns and The Goblet of Fire. :(

Sorry for the tangent! Hahahahaha. But yes, the candles do actually look cool when you walk under them. It just isn't the same as what was there before. :(

Hogwarts Castle full size would be like 30+ acres in size.. which is bigger than all of USH :) I think by 'full scale' they mean there will be spaces (or maybe fascades) built full size and that it will have areas themed that are full size (like the dining hall).

No way they can build this onsite

The model is 1:24 so every inch is 2ft in that model. So a 5'5" tall man would be thirteen stories tall :)

Oh, I definitely wasn't thinking all of Hogwarts. That's impossible LOL.

Sounds ideal! Are you staying at one of the resorts?
No :( The way I look at it, if I'm going to pay all that money for a resort on property I want some theming or something to make it different to an average hotel. That's the reason why I'm staying at AoA for a week.

I felt the same, but did an onsite at Universal anyhow.

WELL worth it. And they all do have themes, just more like a moderate or deluxe style theme at Disney rather than the more garish (and I mean that with all love) style the value resorts tend to display.

Being within walking proximity to the parks, plus the fun of walking the hotels at night, and the Express Passes included with being a Universal Resort guest, easily paid for itself.

I stayed at the Royal Pacific (think...Universal does the Polynesian...with a grander scale, but less style)...were I to go back, I think I would aim for Portofino Bay. But, we still enjoyed the Royal Pacific. They had an amazing facility, fantastic pool, and, as I said, walking proximity to the parks and Citywalk.

Have you seen the hotels?! Portofino Bay is gorgeous when it comes to theming. Hard Rock just looks so extremely classy (as it is) and the grounds around Royal Pacific are immensely themed as a dense tropical jungle. I think they all look so exquisite.

Combined with the spacious rooms, amazing service, Express Pass, proximity to the parks and awesome pools, the Universal Resorts are just awesome.

You ever seen that movie bedtime stories? If so, do you remember how he comes up with he idea that a hotel shouldn't make you feel at home or in luxury, it should be an adventure! I very much agree with that. Hotels such a AoA, Pop Century, Port Orleans and Wilderness Lodge are more my preference.

And we buy the Express Pass anyway :)

The first thought in my head was, where would they find the room? And my next thought was, what are they going to tear down :(

USH doesn't need Potter. It's not that type of park and will just make the rest of the park feel odd.

In my opinion, the Upper Lot should be dedicated to movie making attractions only and use some of the theme park stuff on the Lower Lot.
