Exactly this (Points up) Not to mention they don't care that many of us don't want to eat the same crap at almost every QS restaurant in their Parks. Case in point: DBF and I were at the MK the other night and were several days into our vacation, the last thing we wanted was Cosmic Ray's again because there it's Burgers and Fries or Chicken Nuggets(which they changed the quality of and they suck now and made us both very ill), so our next go to would have been Tomorrowland Terrace which had been open most of the week, but nope..it's closed 4 hours early for the stupid Wishes Dessert Party upcharge event, so we would have gone to Pecos, but we can't eat SW food, so that's out. Don't even talk to me about Hot Dogs at Caseys (not that they are bad, they are just not something we eat for medical reasons). So, we are bleep out of luck, and becoming very hangry. We ended up leaving the MK earlier than desired to go back to our room and cook something for ourselves. Sunday night found us in the same situation except I suggested a walk-up to Plaza which ended up working out (Thank goodness!) We usually plan and have ADRs but towards the end of our trip we are usually doing "clean up" per se on things we still had to do in the Parks (which was a lot due to the bigger than expected crowds).
I remember going to WDW and you were lucky if two restaurants in each Park served a similar menu. It's totally frustrating. Get with it Disney, stop charging ridiculous upcharges for the brainless snowflakes and get back to what you were established for and with. Or if you are at least going to have a few frivolous upcharge events, use that money to give us more freaking options for dining, etc!
