I don't get it. This seems like a weak ride line up. Now, make it Snow White's Mine Train, Buzz, Space Mountain, Big Thunder, and Splash and you might have something. I get that it is kid friendly but most of those have very little wait times. Why would you pay for this?

No waiting. It's a glorified 10 ride FP. That'd be my best guess why people will pay for it.

Think of this as a Katiebug tour. Get on 10 rides via FP line, meet Mickey and get a Mickey bar or Turkey leg or whatever.

Hi 21!! What a surprise to see you here! Just to let you know, we heard you the first 10 times you said it. But for many of us, a $199 upcharge discounted from $299 is still an upcharge. Just FYI, Disney will tend to do these reductions when the original item winds up being a dismal failure. (Ala last years after hours upcharge debacle)
But if "many of you" didn't even realize it existed before...then take comfort that it's not a "new cash grab".

Like I said, it's not for me. I hope they come up with something else before Spring...EMM is pretty much non existent in April, so it means they are either restructuring - like they did with this one...or they are removing these "upcharges". I think this new announcement may mean that it's the former. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next month. There is not many options at all right now. Even the SW Tour isn't showing. Maybe new tours are rolling out, this one being the first.Or...maybe they'll extend Disney After Hours... I don't know.
You would think that Disney would want to provide people with more options for Spring Break time. It's weird. They've decreased the upcharges... I'm surprised some people here haven't been rejoicing over that.lol

Yeah, we got down to WDW on the 24th and we got to the MK a little before the 3:00 parade and we were like, Holy People, Batman! And it stayed that way at both the MK and Epcot until Saturday afternoon. The crowds were definitely not a 3, lol. That said, once all the football people went to the NFL stuff, the parks cleared out and it was actually the crowd level you'd expect.

I've had been planning my 2018 trip ever since this whole conundrum was announced..;)

Not at $199/person. I'm not down with $597 for 4hrs/10 rides and a Mickey Bar. Heck, a hard ticketed event like MNSSHP only cost us like $250 total.
Hi @fngoofy! Try to look at it this way -- depending on the season, the normal VIP tour is $400 - $600 per hour with a minimum of 6 hours.

The Ultimate Disney Classic Tour is $199 for 4 hours which amounts to $50 an hour. This is a deal compared to over $400 an hour.

On my last trip, the line for Pirates and The Haunted Mansion were so unbearably long. And, just in case please don't sit in front of the Pirates boats. LOL.

And, it might be worth it for Peter Pan alone. Oh, nevermind....

Worse..It's a 7 hour minimum. Lol. Week of Thanksgiving was "bargain price" of $450x7.
Fun math.

You neglected to factor in that the new offering is per person, while the existing VIP tour is for up to 10 people. So if you have a group of 10, you'd end up paying $40 per hour per person under that plan versus $50 per hour per person under the new one.

I'm not saying that there isn't some potential value here, but if you're going to make comparisons, you should be clear about the math.

More math: $124 MK Peak Day Ticket + $199 VIP tour = $323 in MK to ride 10 rides. No thanks.

That has nothing to do with what I wrote. I was not implying anything about the value of the tours, merely that a fair comparison between their values had not been made.

I did not say that you (or anyone) should jump on this offer. I was trying to clarify some logic and did so without passion or prejudice. But thank you for your enlightening contribution.

You don't need to get defensive. I added it up for one peak day in MK. Not interested.

I understand what you were pointing out.. but it's still not an accurate comparison either way.
A Premium VIP tour is well over $3k. You can't just pay a portion of that. So I think people would compare overall cost more than "per hour" in that scenario.

What's fun is watching the people who pay these premiums to take these tours to get on the rides quicker and they still wind up standing in line as all the tours wind up at the same place on the same path, lol. I saw 3 Keys to the Kingdom tours come out of the HM last week in a row.

The difference is that I didn't take KTTK just to ride HM and JC. I did it for the backstage info and tour. I count JC as "backstage" because we didn't get the skipper shtick. This tour is just to get on the rides.

I don't know why people seem to think that I have some dog in this fight. Someone broke down the cost per hour for the purposes of comparison. I noted that the cost per hour had a huge caveat in it relating to the number of people. It was merely a correction.

I'm just saying that it's funny when all the different tours run into each other and people wind up waiting anyway. That, or an "inferior" tour has to step aside for another tour to go past. The looks on faces is priceless, lol.

Yeah. I know. I wasn't arguing with you.. just pointing out the overall cost.
I compared the Premium vs the Ultimate a few months back.. one advantage of the Premium- front of the line for SW characters. For that and a few other reasons, I booked it. Then came to my senses and cancelled. The price of that one tour is an equivalent price of another vacation. Not justifiable in my mind.
I'm going to go ahead and assume that I'm not the only Disney vacationer who would rather spend $199 pp or $299 pp vs $3200 or more.lol

I'm going to go one step further and make sure that I plan my vacation so that I don't need a tour to guarantee me access to the rides. Therefore, I just pay my normal everyday admission to the park. Maybe someday down the line I'll splurge on a tour, but for what most of these tours provide (minus the KTTK behind the scenes stuff), if I plan accordingly, I can do pretty much the same thing.
