The Turkey Leg Phenomenon.

I haven't been to the world in about four years. But that last trip I noticed the turkey legs were sneaking their way out of fronteirland and to all different parts of the world. And I always read threads on this site in which people mention how they got a turkey leg in front of tower of terror or in Epcot.

Does anyone else find this spreading of turkey legs through the parks kind of well...stupid?

I mean they fit in fronteirland. But tomorrowland?! Futureworld in Epcot?! By Tower of Terror in MGM?? They're huge, sloppy turkey legs! What's futuristic or hollywood about that?! For the most part everywhere you go in WDW the food fits in with the theming, why screw that up just because the turkey legs are popular. They'll do anything to make an extra buck.

i was let down by the turkey leg. although its a fairl cheap meal in disney its not what i expected. i as thinking it would have been less more meaty. instead i did more work pulling out the tendons. but they should really keep it in just frontierland. it fits in so well there.

In my humble opinion, there's no such thing
as a bad place for a turkey leg. Yum! I guess
it's people like me that are adding to this
dilemma. My apologies.

Hamburgers and hotdogs are also served throughout the property; do they mess with the themeing to? I don’t see the big deal where a Turkey Leg is served. Nothing states it has to be served in Frontierland. If guests want Turkey Legs they are going to give them Turkey Legs.

Well I don't see whats hollywood about a foot long chili cheese dog either, but they sell those at the same booth in front of ToT. Any amusement park you go to now a days sells Turkey legs in the park. Its a quick "eat'n go" meal. I see nothing wrong with selling them in other parks.

Answer me this, if a guest buys a Turkey leg in Frontierland and takes it into Tomorrowland, should Disney repremand them for "messing with the themeing"? Hahahah!! Thats just silly!

I hate to be the barer of bad news, but if they can sell something that makes money but doesn't fit the theme, guess which is going to win out?

Heading for the great escape.
Of course its part of the Future with all the legs sold Disney uses turkeys genetically modified and cross bred with millipedes so as to maximise leg production.

The turkey leg was never a fast food staple(it was a fronteirland treat), you can't compare it to a hot dog or hamburger.

The turkey leg was a great theme enhancing treat, native to certain spot. Now it's everywhere and just a turkey leg. People want to get their hands on everything so easily. Instant gratification is what American people want and the execs are giving it to them while flushing the real disney experience down the drain. The turkey leg stand in fronteirland used to be unique. Now it's just a BS marketing scheme.

And yes purple dragon. I think that person needs to be shot on the spot! :p

I think you've out Grizzed Grizz.

I've never eaten a turkey leg nor have any desire to, but you can make the arguement that the whole WDW resort and everything else in life is a marketing scheme.

Does this mean vegetarianism in The Land? Fish Sticks in The Living Seas? What would they sell in front of the Haunted Mansion? A wilted salad? :hammer:

Hahahahahahah!!! Good one!!

Food is food, and as long as I can remember they've been serving Turkey legs in a couple of the pavilions in the World Showcase in EPCOT too. So is that wrong too? What if its a common snack in the country of the pavilion they are being served in front of? Is it still wrong becuase you think it should only be in Frontierland?

There is this wonderful thing out there called supply and demand! You heard of it? the demand for the turkey legs got so high that the booths in Frontierland couldn't keep up, so the expanded the number of booths/restaurants offering them. Why is that a bad thing?

Turkey Legs are my absolute favorite thing to eat in WDW. They're one of the things that I look forward to most about going. They're so cheap and so good, I can't restrain myself from buying them! :slurp: :slurp:

Well then, here would be the themed food selections:

1. Frontier Land - Turkey Leg
2. Adventure Land - Ostrich Leg
3. Fantasy Land - Dragon Leg
4. Tomorrow Land - Stich Leg
5. Main Street - Horse Leg

Did I miss any Lands?

They smell better than they taste, in my opinion... As illustrated above, turkey legs could soon be on a Weight Watchers menu for the reason of losing more calories pulling off the meat than consumption itself. :animwink:

Josh, I understand what you're trying to say. It would be like selling tacos in Fantasyland or Tomorrowland, or Fish and Chips in Tommorrowland or Adventureland...it just doesn't fit in with the "theme."

However, I think selling them outside of the American Pavilion is just fine...what can be more American than turkey? I agree that they look out of place in MGM.

I think that food is food, dont need to be themed, why wait till you are at frontierland to eat a turkey leg if you want it at MGM?
for you must be a common thing but for us turist it is not common, in fact I eat the firt turkey leg of my life at MK as they are not sold in my country, we dont even have BBQ sauce! just imagine!

The place in MGM isn't in front of ToT, it's on Sunset Blvd. and it's called "Toulca Turkey Legs Co." or something like that.
And that would be where??? In front of ToT. Excuse me for not stating the exact location. :brick:

At the end of Sunset boulevard about 15-25 feet to the left of the gates to Rockin Roller coaster, and in the shadow of the great Tower of Terror. Is that better? LOL  :hammer:
